18/06/2026: Family run, rooms are very clean, the way they restored the room is delightful, the fixtures are high end, bed is very comfortable, food and wine excellent, try the local craft beer, lots of parking and the young lady managing everything is passionate and friendly. Good find in an otherwise slightly barren but bucolic area!

04/06/2026: The most helpful and wonderful people we met during our journey in France. Long story short: I injured my leg, and while driving back home, our car broke down near Ussel. As we urgently searched for a place to stay, we ended up at the Grand Hôtel—and it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to us. François helped us with absolutely everything: communicating with the workshop, finding local services, and, most importantly, providing us with a charming and comfortable place to stay. His kindness and support helped us cope with all the unexpected problems that suddenly came our way. The hotel has been beautifully renovated, the rooms are comfortable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. To my mind this hotel could be a perfect base for exploring the beautiful surrounding region. A million thanks to François and the entire team for their hospitality, professionalism, and genuine care. We will never forget your help during a very difficult moment of our trip. Highly recommended!

15/08/2026: A very pleasant restaurant with refined and excellent cuisine. Our two children thoroughly enjoyed it. Impeccable service. We had a wonderful time.

03/08/2026: A must-visit. Friendly service, impeccable taste, generous and delicious dishes. Intimate and welcoming atmosphere, both indoors and outdoors. Very good value for money considering the quality of the food offered. Always a pleasant experience.

13/07/2026: Passing through during the Tour de France, we stumbled upon Le Marmontel, and it was a lucky find! We were looking for simple, good food that day, and it more than delivered. The portions were delicious and generous. The welcome from both the front of house and the kitchen staff was incredibly warm. Everyone was attentive, and we had a very pleasant time. If you're ever in the area, we highly recommend this restaurant, especially given its very reasonable prices.

25/08/2026: We noticed a significant decline in quality compared to our last visit a year ago. The burgers we ordered were very poorly prepared and the toppings were woefully inadequate. I ordered a Saint-Nectaire burger, and the only trace of Saint-Nectaire cheese was a single slice placed on top; the onion topping was completely absent. Very disappointing for such a high price.
