At first, the wait to take our order was a little long, but it was quite busy that night, which is perfectly understandable. We weren't in any hurry at all; we were there to enjoy our evening and take our time. And in the end, the owner's charm, kindness, and warm welcome completely made us forget the wait. Once our order was taken, the dishes arrived relatively quickly. We particularly enjoyed the lovely terrace, with its charming little lamps on the tables that added a touch of elegance and created a truly delightful atmosphere for a romantic dinner. ✨ Special mention to the owner, who knows his menu perfectly and is excellent at advising his customers. Thanks to his recommendations, we made some excellent choices and were absolutely delighted. His warm welcome and helpful advice greatly contributed to making our wedding anniversary even more enjoyable. And above all, a huge shout-out to the chef, who was alone in the kitchen that evening: you are a true team of heroes! 🙏🏾 Well done for all your hard work. We had a wonderful evening and we will definitely be back if we're ever in the area again. Finally, I would simply say: don't rely solely on negative reviews. Everyone has their own experience, and every experience is different. 06/08/2026: We settled down here at 7 pm for a light meal. We ordered haddock with risotto and paprika, and confit de canard. It was served in a small oven dish with a side salad. Delicious flavor. And the Sauvignon with it was fine too! Very good value for money. Tasty ice cream for dessert.

31/07/2026: A friendly, family atmosphere. We started with excellent homemade tuna rillettes, followed by mussels and fries paired with a delicious white wine from the Charente region. Reasonable prices. We'll be back.

28/07/2026: Cannot fault this establishment. Very friendly service from the moment we arrived, we did not have a recommendation but were welcomed in. We had the menu du jour all of which was the best food we have had on our week stay in the area. Welcoming and homely vibe but with top tier food, drinks and service.

29/07/2026: A nice hotel in a beautiful and facinating area. Good pool and an amazing restaurant for dinner. Service was great in the restaurant and reception too. Unfortunately we faced a really rude lady in the breakfast room. She made us feel like we were for some reason not good enogh to visit her hotelbreakfast. The woman left us feeling strange and for that reason we had to take on star away from this otherwise lovely and beautiful hotel…

02/06/2026: We have stayed here before, the hotel is lovely in a fantastic location. However, this time we just had dinner. They've reduced the menu, and it's not as good. Happily the staff are still attentive and friendly. The location by the river, where you can enjoy drinks on the lawn, is perfect. Please Mercure: review your menu.

17/06/2026: Thai chicken and mint salad.... Too much white cabbage, even. Where's the chicken? I didn't see any chicken.

14/06/2026: Unfriendly, you ask for something to eat, a face down to the floor, get a drinks menu, order something to drink, it gets slammed on the table without a "please," not satisfied, we'll just go eat somewhere else then!

03/08/2026: The restaurant is located in the charming setting of the Royal Rope Factory. The terrace is very pleasant. The food is good quality, but the daily special was a little small. The servers were overwhelmed, which caused a long wait before our order was taken, but after that, it was quick. Overall, a good experience for a reasonable price.
