Au Crocodile sur Strasbourg

One of the best meals I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I was contacted a fortnight in advance to inquire about allergies and preferences, and the chef’s tasting menu offered to me took these into account whilst presenting many welcome surprises. The food was all exceptional in taste, beautifully presented and well-explained. There is an à la carte menu but I recommend asking for the tasting menu as you will have the opportunity to try food you would never ordinarily sample. The sommelier was excellent in providing a flight of wines tailored to my request to explore Alsatian wines. The evening is certainly not a cheap one but should be considered as an experience rather than just a meal - it remains the highlight of my visit to Strasbourg. (As one point of minor feedback, whilst the tasting menu options - 4, 6 or 8 courses - were presented alongside prices, the options for the flight of wine were explained without reference to the price. Although it turned out to be reasonably priced, it would have been useful to be told the price at the time of ordering.) A final mention should go to the cheeseboard, an additional option highly recommended, in particular the 42 month aged Comté, a very rare find. In all, an outstanding meal, and the restaurant deserves far more than one Michelin star. I very much look forward to returning.

A truly remarkable experience in the heart of Strasbourg. Everything was exquisitely executed, from the precision of the cooking to the subtlety of the flavors. I was particularly captivated by the creative presentation of the appetizers served on a ceramic tree-shaped stand. It's the kind of detail that demonstrates genuine aesthetic sensibility. We had a delightful time, each dish a visual and gustatory discovery. A place to remember for special occasions.

From the very first minute, it was clear: this wasn't just about a meal, but a truly special experience. We deliberately followed the chef's recommendation and let him choose the six-course menu – a decision that made the evening perfect. Each course was of the highest caliber, creative, precise, and prepared with meticulous attention to detail. The stuffed oyster, in particular, was an absolute highlight and a dish you won't soon forget. The pigeon was also superb – cooked to perfection, exceptionally flavorful, and a genuine culinary delight. The wine pairings were equally impressive. Each wine was carefully selected to complement the individual courses and perfectly enhanced the cuisine. What made this evening even more special was the service: attentive, warm, professional, and yet pleasantly unobtrusive. We felt completely at ease throughout. The elegant ambiance, the passion of the kitchen team, and the attention to detail combined to create a truly memorable evening. A huge compliment to the chef and the entire team at Au Crocodile – an evening that we will remember for a long time.

This is one of the most memorable and special dining experiences my family has ever had. We inquired about a family reunion dinner, and asked if we could bring a baby with us (fully expecting them to say no). Not only did they accommodate us in a special room to not disturb the other guests, but they created a special little dining experience for the baby. SO above and beyond anything we were expecting. The food was also fantastic and the service amazing. If you had one night in Strasbourg, I'd recommend this spot. Thanks Croc team!

Some courses were exceptionally good, but overall the presentation wasn't all that appealing. The explanation of the food in English was unfortunately not very clear, but the staff were helpful and friendly.

Michelin star restaurant. Stunningly beautiful restaurant. Coordinated service like a performance. Very good food. Price accordingly. A different experience.

A magnificent meal, so many wonderful things to say! I'll keep it short; the best thing is to try it for yourself. The servers are very attentive and offer excellent advice, with a menu focused on local cuisine (in part). We enjoyed discovering exceptional and typically Alsatian products that are hard to find elsewhere (I'm thinking of the smoked Munster cheese, to name just one – it was excellent). An unforgettable evening. A big thank you to the entire Crocodile team who do a remarkable job, with special thanks to Pierre, the sommelier, who introduced us to some real Alsatian gems to pair with the dishes. I will definitely be sharing them with my family and friends for future family meals.

The decor is stylish and understated. The large-format painting in the dining room, depicting a cityscape, adds a vibrant touch. The tableware, glasses, and cutlery are of exceptional quality and complement the classic ambiance of the dining room. The service is outstanding. We were served in German with a friendly demeanor, and the staff also spoke English in addition to French. The menu is clearly laid out and was explained in an easy-to-understand manner, complete with suggestions. Towels were provided for cleaning our hands, dropped napkins were replaced, and place settings were cleared and set simultaneously. All of this was done so discreetly, simultaneously for both guests, and always at just the right moment, that we felt constantly cared for and never disturbed. The wine pairings for the carte-sur-table menu offered a diverse range of flavors and were perfectly matched to the dishes. The sommelier truly knows his craft! The eight dishes themselves were sophisticated, appropriately portioned, and harmoniously seasoned. At the same time, they showcased a wide array of ingredients and techniques, providing a constant and pleasant surprise. Highlights included the oyster stuffed with bacon and the vanilla cream served in a sugar sphere. At the beginning and end of the meal, three chocolates were served alongside an amuse-bouche, perfectly complementing the menu. All in all, the visit was a must!

It was a truly delicious dinner and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food was very tasty, fresh, and prepared with great care. I was particularly impressed by the attentive and friendly service – the entire team was very welcoming and took great care of the guests. We felt welcome from the very first moment. The pleasant atmosphere, the excellent food, and the many thoughtful touches made this evening truly special.
