Le Cercle Suisse sur Besancon

A wonderful experience at Le Cercle, with attentive service and creative suggestions in the kitchen. The watermelon was a delightful surprise, and the sweetbreads were perfectly executed. The fish and tomato dishes were less to our liking, but the offerings were there. The reimagined lemon tart was a delight. Thank you.

Excellent menu that deserves nothing but praise. A few suggestions: announce the dishes and their sides. The tomato starter was superb. Perhaps try enhancing the mousse's flavor with thyme or rosemary, as you do with the dessert. The sweetbreads were fantastic. Well done and thank you.

A delightful surprise for a Sunday evening in Besançon! Le Cercle offers sophisticated, refined, and expertly prepared bistronomic cuisine that remains accessible. The menu is clear and well-structured, and the value for money is frankly excellent considering what's on the plate. Special mention should also go to the vegetarian option: it's not simply an added alternative, but a truly sophisticated and carefully crafted dish, on par with the rest of the menu. This is rare enough to warrant highlighting. The service is top-notch: professional, attentive, and pleasant, without being overbearing. This is a place that definitely makes you want to return. An excellent discovery in Besançon and a wonderful example of what bistronomy can be today.

My experience was nothing like what I'd read or heard. It's as if there are two Le Cercle restaurants in Besançon. We ate outside, with paper napkins and placemats. During the meal, we saw four different servers come and go, with no greeting or "enjoy your meal." No one offered us wine, but the glasses remained on the table throughout the entire meal, along with the aperitif glasses, which were never cleared. The aperitif wasn't accompanied by any appetizers. It's a shame; we would have liked at least a piece of bread to eat, as the starter arrived after a wait of over an hour. The starter was bland. It was a stuffed tomato. On my plate, it looked more like a peeled tomato swimming in a puddle of water. At least the bread arrived, which helped to appease our hunger. It must have been cut that morning; it was already half dry. Fortunately, the main course redeemed the experience. It was duck, and the dish was excellent. We would have liked more, as the plate contained only about 50g of meat, a small potato cut in half, and two slices of zucchini. For dessert, there was a cheese plate. There were two pieces of blue cheese. Local cheeses would have been much better. At the end of the meal, the bill was steep; the meal wasn't worth the price. We certainly won't be back.

Creative and flavorful cuisine. Seasonal menu featuring local produce. A refined setting with discreet service. We will gladly return.

We had a delightful time at this restaurant with its soothing, old-world charm. The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. Well done to everyone!

Delicious and well-presented food. We appreciated the discreet service. No waiting. However, two minor drawbacks: the air conditioning was too weak and the red wine served by the glass was much too warm. A nice bonus: a good selection of wines served by the glass. We highly recommend this restaurant for food lovers who want something other than steak and fries. 🤩

Passing through on our way back from vacation, it was a wonderful culinary discovery. The dishes were beautifully presented and very tasty. If we're ever back in Besançon, we know where to eat again.

When you come to Le Cercle, it's to push the boundaries of the "classic" and the "conventional." Here, you'll find a very fresh, expertly crafted summer menu with bold flavors and surprising combinations that always work. It's a pleasure to discover flavors that also pair beautifully with our local products, which are showcased to great effect: Comté cheese, Morteau sausage, Jura wines… in short, unbeatable value for money! Special mention goes to the watermelon tataki, the stuffed zucchini, and the rice pudding… the rice in bed, a true marvel!!! Bravo! We love coming back again and again to discover the menus as the seasons change.

An absolutely delicious and original culinary experience! A wonderful discovery. We will certainly return on our next visit to Besançon.
