12/12/2025: First time I've been refused priority access with a disabled parking permit. I had to wait in the queue outside. I think the person at the counter didn't know what the permit meant. Otherwise, as usual, the meat was very good. Have the fries changed? That's a shame because they were just cheap, mass-produced fries.

02/01/2026: I wish I could have rated my visit, if only the restaurant hadn't let us reserve a table for 4 when the establishment was actually closed... Despite reminders from the restaurant, and the email stating that "the team was delighted to welcome us", we learned that it was closed 30 minutes before our reservation, by looking for directions on Google.

The menu features high-quality dishes, beautifully presented, and generous portions. The service is impeccable and very efficient. I highly recommend a visit.

27/01/2026: We had a lovely time at this restaurant. The meal was very good, well-prepared, and delicious. A big thank you also to the waiter, who was very pleasant, professional, and attentive throughout the service. However, we were very disappointed with the drinks: one of the drinks I was served was expired. When I pointed this out, the manager refused to replace it, claiming it was a "best before" date and not an expiration date. This attitude was very unprofessional and quite unpleasant. It's a shame, because with better customer service in this regard, the experience could have been excellent.

25/01/2026: Friendly staff. We ordered two mixed fish platters and two hamburgers. The hamburgers were good, but the sea bass in the platters arrived cold. The rest was barely lukewarm. A shame.

03/01/2026: The owner, Fafa, takes your money with a joint in his mouth, completely drunk. We won't be back.

30/12/2025: We had a fantastic meal; we ordered the cheddar bowl and the flank steak. It was cooked rare, just the way we wanted it, and the meat was marinated and excellent—very tender. My husband also had a glass of very good red wine. The portions were quite generous, so we didn't have time to try the desserts, but we'll definitely be back! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the menu selection.

28/01/2026: We knew the previous owner. The atmosphere and service were always impeccable, but we were disappointed by the way the meat was cooked. It was seared too quickly, and despite choosing rare, the burnt taste was overpowering. A real shame!

14/01/2026: Very good, very pleasant waitresses. However, we were there for a birthday celebration, and we discreetly informed the waitress that we wanted to blow out the birthday candles. Unfortunately, she revealed the pink candle in front of the entire table, harping on about it for a good five minutes, thus spoiling the surprise. But overall, it was still enjoyable despite this minor drawback.

31/01/2026: We were extremely disappointed with our experience at the Hippopotamus in Roques last night (January 30th). The service was catastrophic from beginning to end: • Appetizers were served after the main courses. • Our daughter's chicken nuggets arrived 20 minutes after our main courses—great for a family meal… • A dessert advertised as roasted apples arrived completely raw. I sent the dessert back, and then… they brought me the exact same thing, with just a quick blast of a blowtorch on the apples to make it look like they were. Of course, they were still just as raw. It was bordering on disrespectful. The icing on the cake: the manager (who looked like anything but a manager) came over to our table and loudly announced, “Okay, what's wrong?” in front of everyone. His customer service was beyond poor, his tone inappropriate, and he showed absolutely no self-reflection. It's all the more regrettable because we used to be regulars and the staff was excellent before. But this is a freefall. We'll never set foot in that place again. One star because we can't give it zero.
