27/01/2025: Refined cuisine. Pleasant service. A cozy but not stuffy atmosphere. Normal prices for an establishment of this quality. We can't wait for spring, let's go back and enjoy the shade of the beech parasol.

13/09/2024: Father and son dinner. Excellent friendly and efficient service. Lovely ambience. Seated promptly. Our main végétarien galettes and desert crepes arrived swiftly and were extremely well presented and beautifully tasty accompanied by ‘cidre traditionalé’. Absolutely a lovely and most enjoyable dining experience. Hope to return to this lovely restaurant soon.

24/09/2024: We came for dinner after our Hennessy experience at Hennessy, and there they recomend us this place for dinner.
The place is located in a super nice building in front of the local market. The service was exceptional (our waiter said was his first day, but he was super good). The food was exceptional, the music is an interesting option, with rap and a bit more modern music, but in a very good volume and selected with very good taste. And gives a very good ambience to the place.
Was really difficult to choose what to eat, everything on the menu looks amazing.
About the price we spent 37€ per person for a meal with a starters, mains, dessert and drinks (beers and cocktail). So I think is a very good price.
We are going to come back for the lunch, they told us that for lunch they have a “markets menu”.
We can only recommend this place on your next visit to Cognac.
22/09/2024: We experienced the Origins restaurant as a family last night and what can we say, just incredible, we had a great evening. Very warm welcome, background music, very pleasant setting 😊
The cocktails and the cuisine reflect the incredible restaurant 🤤 we had a great time, I really recommend this restaurant without hesitation 😊

A very nice discovery of Cognac at a reasonable price
15/01/2025: One of our best dinner-experience during a roadtrip! Super friendly staff motivating us to try to speak French (but helped when we were struggling). Service not too quick and not too slow, just right. Restaurant feels family-run but I don’t know. Nice menu. Not everything was available but we were fine with it. Had a really good three course meal with aperitif and a bottle of wine. Everything of good quality and really tasty. Prices fair. Couldn’t recommend more.

10/09/2024: I knew this restaurant before its takeover, and it was already very good. Not only is the quality always there, but the plates are plentiful and the service is very pleasant. My kidneys were cooked to perfection.

19/08/2024: One Sunday lunchtime in August, we stopped at Le Coq d'Or which is well rated on Google. We are with our 2 daughters on the terrace who behave well. The food is ok nothing more. I take my daughters to the bathroom and in the meantime, the waiter offers my husband a coffee and says "you must need it with all these girls". I find it sexist and unwelcome, especially since the children behaved very well at the table.

The cuisine is varied, I really liked it

24/01/2025: Disappointing experience. There were three of us on the terrace, ready to eat, except one of my daughters who was not thirsty. We were refused service because “a place was occupied without consumption”. An incomprehensible and very uncommercial attitude, especially when the terrace was not full. This kind of behavior doesn't make you want to come back, and that's a shame.

04/09/2024: I came across the wrong day. I'm disappointed. Lack of staff, lack of organization, lack of products. Do not come on a public holiday.
Missed birthday. 2h30 for just 1 dish.
Coffee for 5.5€ without even a chocolate or biscuit. This clearly shocked me.
16/08/2024: Superb evening on the terrace at the Distillerie, restaurant at the Hôtel du Chais Monnet.
Exceptional setting on the terrace or in the room. Good cooking, hearty dishes and very good desserts including a Cognac Baba!
Staff present and very attentive. Without a false note for a very fair price given the setting and the quality of the products.
