23/03/2026: Le Canon Restaurant Attracted by particularly glowing reviews, we went to this establishment with high expectations, which were unfortunately quickly dashed. Upon entering the dining room, a strong smell of cooking oil pervaded the air. The decor, in an old-fashioned, not to say outdated, bistro style, proved rather ordinary, lacking any real charm or comfort. The waiter, for his part, was distant, condescending, and out of step with the expected level of service. He went on at length to explain the details of each dish, which were nevertheless listed on the chalkboard. Another observation: there was no wine list; we had to choose with the waiter. In the kitchen, the disappointment continued. The calf's head, overcooked, had an unpleasant texture, like "smashed, charred slug." The artichoke, bland, was served with an excessively salty and acidic sauce. The main courses did not improve matters: a very small portion of bland fish, unremarkable lamb, and a caillette (a type of sausage) that was both overcooked and excessively salty. This last dish, pointed out from the very first bite, was removed at my request, without any alternative being offered. The dessert (orange tart) proved particularly acidic, to the point of being inedible (only the pastry – homemade? – was palatable). The "chef," apparently, doesn't taste his "creations," dishes that vainly strive for sophistication and refinement. The service was also subpar: cutlery wasn't replaced between courses, and paper napkins were used. Finally, the bill of €156 was not adjusted despite the uneaten dish, accompanied by a rather inelegant remark: "Everyone ate it except you." This response, unfortunately, reflects the general atmosphere: unfriendly and pretentious. In summary, a particularly disappointing – even unpleasant – experience, both in terms of food and service.

14/12/2025: The burgers are really good. Good ingredients and friendly service. It's a shame about the upkeep of the place; they could attract more customers.

15/01/2026: Florida Beach is a bit of a place where locals test their tans and their balance on pebbles simultaneously. A pleasant and peaceful beach, ideal for swimming, strolling, or simply lying down with a sea view without having to negotiate every inch of sand with a crowd of tourists. In terms of practicality, access is easy and the facilities are basic: showers, a few benches, and parasols to share as if it were some kind of mini-Olympics of patience. The prices are ridiculously low for a public beach, so enjoyment is guaranteed at minimal cost—provided you like walking on pebbles. In short: a tranquil beach, perfect for relaxing, enjoying the sea, and practicing the subtle sport of "pebble jogging"—your ankles will thank you… or not.

06/10/2025: Unfortunately, the beach in Nice has no sand, only large pebbles. I had imagined it would be nicer, but that's certainly a matter of taste...

06/04/2026: The second time I ate yesterday, I brought my friend, because I was bragging that you serve well and the food is delicious, what happened was that I was very disappointed because our order was the grilled seafoods but the shrimps already had a smell, they weren't fresh and secondly, the bread was even worse, it was so hard it couldn't be eaten, like a rock. We asked your waiter to crush it and he couldn't crush it so we didn't enjoy the 160€ we paid 😞

05/04/2026: We often write reviews, and unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we’ve had in a long time. At first glance, Chez Freddy in Nice Old Town looks very promising. It’s located in a prime area, constantly busy, with a strong flow of people — which gives the impression of quality and popularity. Unfortunately, this is very misleading. The service is extremely disorganized. The staff seemed lost and uncoordinated. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like drinks, cutlery, and even plates. Nothing arrived without insisting, and there was no sense of attention or professionalism. The food, which should be the highlight — especially for a place claiming seafood specialties — was simply not good. We ordered the moules frites (plat du jour), expecting a classic done well. It was a complete disaster. The mussels were poorly prepared and lacked any real flavor. We also ordered a pasta, which was shockingly bad — honestly worse than something you would casually make at home without much effort. Completely unacceptable for a restaurant in such a prime location. What keeps this place full is clearly not quality, but its location and the illusion created by the crowd. People see it busy and assume it must be good — exactly what happened to us. The owner appears very active, constantly moving things around and trying to attract more customers, but that energy does not translate into service or food quality. This is a well-known place, but based on our experience, it does not deserve its reputation. If it were possible, this would be a half-star review. Overall: excellent location, very poor execution. We would not recommend this place

22/03/2026: Tasty and beautiful. I had the burger on a potato pancake, without the bun. Excellent. The portion is adequate, you can fill up. The decor is elegant, nice and quiet.

19/03/2026: My online reservation wasn't registered; luckily I went in person to confirm. The service at my table was very good. I was surprised to see menus being tossed to some of the other customers. In short, the quality of the welcome and service has declined over the years despite the marketing efforts and strong positioning within the steakhouse scene. Portion sizes have been getting smaller year after year. Fortunately, and this was the reason for our visit, the quality of the meat was excellent; thank you for at least preserving that legacy.
