Every year we visit them from Italy for the food (of the highest level, fish but also meat of excellent quality) and for the courtesy, kindness of the staff. We recommend it, you will love this restaurant and also the beautiful region of Charente. Chaque année, nous allons les trouver en venant d’Italie à la fois pour la nourriture (de très haut niveau, le poisson mais aussi la viande d’excellente qualité) et pour la courtoisie, la gentillesse du personnel. 23/09/2024: Lots of fried food and what isn't fried lacks finesse. High prices for what they offer. Our bread was completely dried out and the water tasted very much like chlorine. With a starter and some wine you can easily spend 50 to 60 euros per person. I think the oysters we ate had been open for a long time. I was sick from it during the night. Fish was fried too hard, risotto was not creamy but dried out. The fries were tasty but extremely oily. Alioli was very tasty. The waiters were friendly and quick in service. But all in all, I don't really understand the rave reviews. Fewer dishes on the menu and more attention to cooking and finishing would probably improve things.

17/11/2024: Having come to drink a beer around 5 p.m., we found the welcome cold, even freezing... No smile or "hello" when we entered the establishment and yet the waitresses saw us go through the door and walk along the counter. I read the other reviews which highlight the service. This is not our experience. Very calm atmosphere, almost extinct. I give 2 stars for the beer which was good. We will go elsewhere next time.

11/09/2024: We went to La Belle Poule with a group of 20 people in a professional setting. We had reserved rooms but also all our evening meals. The setting is very pleasant, the restaurant and the terrace are real pluses for this establishment. And the staff is extremely attentive and friendly, both before our visit and on site.

08/12/2025: We were told to choose a seat and that a menu would be brought to us. The menu never arrived, so we served ourselves, waited, and waited. We placed our order (two lattes and two crepes), and waited. The coffees arrived on their own. We waited. The coffee was too sweet and got cold. I asked about the crepes, and they said it was taking a while because they were busy, but they finally arrived a minute later. (Customers next to us had the same problem waiting between their hot drinks and crepes, and coincidentally, the crepes arrived right after a complaint). Anyway. I ordered a crepe with butter, and I received a crepe with sugar, even though I don't like sugar. I didn't finish the latte because it was bad. The waiter was rushed and not particularly welcoming; we seemed to be bothering him. What a shame.
