01/03/2026: As regulars at La Vieille Gabelle, we were particularly disappointed by our visit today. Unfortunately, the quality is no longer up to the standard of our previous visits. Several issues spoiled our evening: • Disregard for reservation requirements: I specifically requested a table on the ground floor for my mother, who has a knee problem. Despite this, we were seated upstairs. And don't even get me started on the U-shaped table for five people—it was absurd! • Disappointing ambiance: The upstairs room is shabby, extremely noisy, and the mismatched chairs detract from the expected level of service. It's far from the atmosphere of a "fine dining" establishment. • Declining value for money: The portions are noticeably smaller. The photo of the trout gravlax, with its three tiny pieces, is a perfect example: for the price of the set menus, it's woefully inadequate. • Slow service: Arrived at 7 pm, left at 10:15 pm... The service was slow and poorly paced. It's a real shame, but this experience has put us off returning anytime soon…

08/02/2026: The meal (Normandy-style ribeye steak and homemade fries) was simply excellent. The pepper sauce is one of the best I've ever tasted. The service is simple, friendly, and unpretentious. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the meal; I highly recommend it.

08/02/2026: A superb discovery at the Palais de Joséphine in Évreux! 🤩 The dishes were as beautiful as they were delicious, prepared with care and great taste. Each plate was a true delight for the eyes and the palate. All this was accompanied by a most welcoming and pleasant atmosphere, which made the experience even more enjoyable. An address I wholeheartedly recommend and where I will return with great pleasure!

The owner's welcome is warm, friendly, and full of humor—you immediately feel at ease. The food is 100% homemade, simple yet delicious, and changes daily to guarantee freshness and variety. I opted for the daily special: a generous portion, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and served quickly (ideal when you only have an hour). The staff is friendly and helpful, and the service is impeccable. The value for money is simply unbeatable for homemade dishes like this! Reservations are recommended as the place is very popular—and it's easy to see why.

27/01/2026: Three words: I loved it! The welcome was fantastic and energetic. The restaurant was nice and lively. The whole team was very pleasant and responsive. The food was good; I had a croque madame, and the fries and mayo were homemade… They also had a delicious draft IPA. In short, I'll be back as soon as I can 🙂
