16/08/2026: So conflicted about whether to even leave a review for this place. Possibly the worst dining experience we have had during our week of travelling in Spain and France... ... but that may have mostly been down to our unsophisticated pallates, and poor menu choices (v.s. other items we may have liked better). Had our choices better suited our tastes, I'm sure we would have actually had a really good experience, and that's the basis of the 3-star score. Quenelle of chicken had the texture of blamanche and an indistinct flavour profile, and the andouillette had the look, smell, taste, texture and warmth of a freshly laid turd. Both were probably 'good' - but it was just a bit unexpected. The execution of the food seemed on-point, especially e.g. the sauces (which we would expect from a Lyonnaise bouchon), it's just we didn't really enjoy the dishes. Even the desserts were a bit 'meh'. Drinks were nothing to write home about (the quality of the wine by the glass was nothing above bang-average table wine, and the AF beer was the frankly abhorrent Kronenbourg). Service was good, and the staff very friendly and obliging, though clearly busy. I would note that the food came out extremely quickly (rather too quickly), with no real break between courses. Value was very good, for authentic Lyonnaise food. Note that the excellent value Menu des Canuts is also available in the evening. The establishment seems to be going for a kind of hybrid modern/shabby vibe, and I'm not sure I fully got it. Mixed furniture, crockery etc... OK, but two of the bowls my food was served in were chipped. Tables inside were small. There are lots of people who will bang on about, say Jane Austen, when, by most objective measures, she churned-out some pretty dreary works of little literary merit. Yet there she still sits, exalted, on her pedestal. The same metaphor probably applies to Lyonnaise cuisine, if this is anything to go by. If it's your thing, though, you could certainly do worse than give this place a try. You might like it; in fact you probably will. So a mixed review, let's say.

15/08/2026: Excellent Lyonnais bistro, the service is impeccable and fast. We had the set menu with starter, main course, and dessert, and all three were a success. Absolutely worth it.

Tell him what you like and he’ll pour you some wonderful treasures! Thank you again for a lovely evening, Christophe. Next time we’ll stay in Lyon longer to enjoy some more glasses! ☺️

05/10/2026: First of all, it's a fairly small place, very warm and welcoming, with truly excellent service. The server who looked after us had the approach of a sommelier, yet remained very down-to-earth and approachable. He took the time to chat with us, offer advice, and explain things. Really lovely. The food was excellent. And when I say excellent, I mean it. I particularly recommend the mushrooms. It's not necessarily the dish you'd expect, but we're still talking about them because they were so well done. Simply perfect. Overall, especially for the price, I felt we got to try a lot of different things. Everything was fresh, original, and very well executed. The ceviche was also excellent. The wine was delicious and very reasonably priced. The only minor point I could mention concerns the Margarita, which I found a little too sweet. It could have used a bit more character, more tequila, and perhaps a touch more salt. But that's really a minor point. We had a great time. The concept is interesting, the atmosphere pleasant, and we'll definitely be back. Special mention also goes to the meat in the arepa, lightly smoked and absolutely delicious.

14/10/2026: The welcome was excellent, and the staff very warm and attentive. We all (there were five of us) thoroughly enjoyed the meal and drinks served.

04/10/2026: Very disappointed. I was served a dish I hadn't ordered. The steak tartare was bland and unseasoned. The dessert was mediocre. On top of that, the bill was exorbitant! I will no longer recommend this restaurant; its quality has declined!

26/09/2026: A wonderful discovery! Everything was delicious, from the appetizer to the dessert, and excellent value for money. The setting is beautiful, the staff welcoming, and the service quick and pleasant. We'll definitely be back!

08/10/2026: Such a cute place. I’m coeliac and the waiter had no issue with it, made the sweet crepe (lemon and sugar) gluten free for me. My friend had a gallette and it was all really nice.

11/09/2026: We went there for our 10th wedding anniversary, and it was a very good experience. Special mention for the signature egg, which was excellent. No need to book in advance for a Thursday evening.

13/09/2026: Rediscovering this Lyon restaurant landmark. Impeccable service (like in Bocuse's restaurants), good food (a short but well-balanced menu), and a very good Pouilly-Fuissé. And L. Gerra is friendly and approachable! A great time.

22/09/2026: Chance led me to this establishment by simply asking a healthy-looking fellow, "Where can I find a traditional Lyonnais bouchon?" "Why don't you go to Rue du Garet!" he replied. I went to the first one I came across (on Garet Street). I had pressed pig's ear, the jelly was excellent and the crunch just right. Then came the tripe, which I'd been wanting to try: breaded tripe served with tartar sauce and a dash of sherry vinegar. For dessert, blackcurrant ice cream with whole berries, drizzled with Marc de Bourgogne. The food here has real flavor! The attentive service and the theatrical decor of the dining room place you in a spot that has seen its share of history...

18/09/2026: An authentic Lyonnais bouchon, just like in the old days. The owner and service are in true Lyonnais style – a real treat!

13/10/2026: The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. Regarding the food, personally, ours arrived lukewarm (bordering on cold). We found the sausage very firm with large chunks of fat. The quarter of an onion that accompanied our plate, however, was very good. The mashed potatoes were nothing special. The eggs with caramelized onions were very good, but we recommend adding more onions for a more pronounced flavor profile. We weren't particularly impressed with the taste.

13/10/2026: We came for my brother's 18th birthday; it was our first time, and we weren't disappointed at all! From the friendly atmosphere to the attentive service and the high-quality Lyonnaise/French cuisine, everything was fantastic! Special mention to the waiter who stayed with us all evening. We'll definitely be back!
