27/09/2024: Informal, homely atmosphere. Food great. We ate a mix of menus. Nobody makes a fuss about it. Even if we had any doubts about the wine, we were able to taste two types. Customized hospitality.

The rump steak lacked a starchy accompaniment.
The desserts are exceptional, the service is top notch.
Wine too.

The products are homemade, several menu choices also daily specials which can be accompanied with the two menu options, the staff is pleasant and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant, you can go there with your eyes closed. However, remember to book in advance to have a table available for lunch.

03/12/2024: It is the best restaurant on rue de Strasbourg in Chalon. Very warm welcome, inexpensive and copious menu, beautiful menu of seasonal products, impeccable service and very good gourmet cuisine, lots of ideas researched by chef Jérôme. Every time I come from Lyon to see my family I stop at JULES to enjoy a good family meal. I recommend this quality restaurant.

20/08/2024: Nice welcome by a friendly and smiling waitress. I ate a perfect andouillette. Brasserie cuisine the way we like it. One problem: the chairs are too low compared to the tables or vice versa.

09/11/2025: Unpleasant welcome, the bar was open with people inside having drinks, and we were told it was closed because the owner was choosing their customers. I don't recommend it. And the opening hours this morning confirm it was open. Edit: It was indeed open, and there were customers, not workers, inside this morning.
09/11/2025: Hello, a message to the owner and anyone wishing to have a coffee or other drink on the terrace:
At 12:30 PM, the brasserie was open, but one of the employees refused us entry, saying it was closed in a very unpleasant tone. He added that on Sundays it closes at 2:00 PM. So, it's open at 12:30 PM? This employee seems to think he can choose who gets to enjoy the terrace and have a drink, based on who the customer is.
Avoid this place, or you'll have to hire staff capable of building a good reputation for your brasserie.
