17/05/2026: I highly recommend eating here! We were served by a very friendly gentleman, the atmosphere is super pleasant, and the food is amazing! We also really liked the place, with its lovely lighting and decor. We felt very comfortable. If you're ever in Lyon, you should definitely go!

15/05/2026: Impeccable service. We had the €34 set menu, which was very generous and delicious. We had to take our dessert to go because we were too full. The restaurant is in the heart of Lyon and very clean. The waiter was lovely; we will definitely be back.

07/05/2026: I’ve been to many Indian restaurants over the years, but Raj Mahal in Lyon truly stands out. From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and inviting aromas made me feel at home. The food is absolutely incredible the flavors are rich, authentic, and beautifully balanced, just like you’d find back in India. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, and it’s clear that the chefs take real pride in what they serve. If you’re an Indian living in Lyon or simply someone craving genuine Indian cuisine, this place is a must-try. It’s rare to find a restaurant that captures the true essence of Indian cooking so well, and Raj Mahal definitely hits the spot. The service is another big plus.Their hospitality adds so much to the overall experience. Overall, this is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited. Highly recommend giving it a try!

17/05/2026: We visited as a party of two, and despite there being only a few other guests (4) in the restaurant, the waitress tried to seat us in a very unwelcoming way. The veg biryani was disappointing, honestly no better than ready-to-cook packaged food you’d find in a supermarket or on an airline. If you’re craving Indian food, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Update after owner review: 15-05-2026 Thanks for the response. My review was based on my actual visit and the dishes I was served. I understand restaurants may adapt food to local tastes, but calling a dish “Indian” should still carry a reasonable standard of flavour, ingredients, and preparation. The veg biryani I received did not meet that expectation, regardless of spice level. It tasted closer to packaged or reheated food than a freshly prepared restaurant dish. On seating, the restaurant had very few guests at the time, so the way we were directed to sit felt unnecessarily unwelcoming. I appreciate that taste is subjective, but my feedback remains the same: for someone specifically looking for Indian food, this was a disappointing experience.

16/05/2026: One star, and that's a generous award. This little neighborhood restaurant is always empty, and it's easy to see why. The service is appalling, particularly because of an unbearably disdainful man who fancies himself a waiter in a five-star hotel. His attitude is all the more revolting because it seems to be based on appearances: he suddenly becomes incredibly fawning with some customers, raising serious doubts. The service is incredibly slow, from taking the order to the bill. All this for barely acceptable food and exorbitant prices. Avoid this trap and go instead to Valmy Tandoori, where the quality, prices, and portions are unbeatable, plus they offer respect.
