24/05/2026: The wait was extremely long. We ordered two glasses of wine and our main course at the same time. After a 45-minute wait, we only received the glasses of wine. We left without eating. And there was no compensation offered. I do not recommend this place!
23/05/2026: We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes before our food was served. The sole we ordered (€28) was far too overcooked. Furthermore, we were seated in a section of the restaurant where service regularly passes by, even though we had requested a different table, supposedly reserved, which was never occupied.

14/04/2026: I ate among the locals. The mussels were tasty, but the local specialty, andoilette, was not to my taste. Especially not when I tasted the texture in my mouth and eventually realized it was made from pig offal. I wanted to try it...

07/05/2026: We spent a night there as a couple last night. The first impression was a bit awkward with a somewhat unusual welcome from an employee. The room was clean and spacious, but the next morning, after explaining the previous day's employee's slightly unusual welcome, the owner immediately rectified the situation by offering complimentary breakfast. I should mention that this employee had left the establishment, hence his somewhat nonchalant greeting. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but the breakfast was excellent, very varied, and fresh. The staff that day were very competent, friendly, and helpful, so despite everything, I recommend this establishment.

It's better to eat upstairs than on the raised terrace, because on the raised terrace the food arrives cold, which isn't pleasant. Upstairs, however, it's perfect. To put it another way, the food could be cooked a little more thoroughly.
20/05/2026: Nice restaurant, unfortunately the food tastes of almost nothing. It's a shame it's also a bit pricey.

03/07/2026: My husband and I stopped here while passing through and everything was fantastic! Grilled lobster for him and mussels and Camembert for me! Everything was amazing: wine, food, service, and the place was wonderful! I would recommend anyone to stop here!

29/04/2026: Le Vauban restaurant is a wonderful discovery in Normandy. It offers simple yet delicious home-style cooking, with well-prepared and flavorful dishes. It's the perfect place to share a lovely time with family, especially since the restaurant is very child-friendly.
The setting is also a real plus: located on the harbor, the place is charming and pleasant, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
I highly recommend it!
24/03/2026: The price did not reflect what was served on the plate: the scallops had rings in the scallop meat that hadn't been removed and were overcooked.

14/06/2026: Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The bread tasted a bit stale and the puff pastry of the pâté was rubbery. It is a shame, because with a little more attention to quality, details, and taste, this establishment could offer a much better experience.
12/06/2026: A pleasant little restaurant, comfortable armchair, nice seating, very good meal, friendly waitress. I felt very comfortable there. We ate inside because it was windy and cool.

09/06/2026: We ordered a bacon burger (medium) and pasta with salmon. They also kindly brought us a small bowl of olives to start. The burger was okay (almost overcooked, which is fine by me), but the fries were terrible. The pasta with salmon was tasty, but the temperature fluctuated between cold and warm. A few days earlier, we ordered pizza to go. That was okay. You can eat much better in the area for the same price. The ambiance was pleasant, and the service staff was very friendly and attentive.
07/06/2026: We ate there two evenings in a row, a party of six adults. The cocktails are excellent and varied. The menu is small but very diverse, and the food is high quality. The desserts are homemade and beautifully presented. Special mention goes to our server both evenings, Alex, who was incredibly kind and attentive. It was impeccable.

16/07/2026: Well, I completely disagree!!! We went for lunch today and were definitely not disappointed. The setting is very pleasant. It's true that one of the two gentlemen is a little less smiley, but certainly not unpleasant either!! We had mussels, and although they weren't French, they were good and well-cooked. The fish was very good and beautifully presented!! For the price, it's unbeatable!!! Thank you to the whole team... from the Burgundians!

Utterly disappointing!!!!
The welcome was quite cold. There were only two tables, even though we were there.
We ordered à la carte; the mussels were okay, but the skate wing was really lacking in garnish.
The desserts were rushed through and weren't anything special either.
Honestly, the prices are high for the dishes served, and above all, the staff isn't welcoming or friendly. The two men there just wanted us to pay and leave.
There must be better places in Port-en-Bessin.

30/01/2026: This review focuses on customer service, not the food or the hotel rooms.
I booked a table for three a week in advance for my mother's birthday. The reservation was made by phone, clearly stating that it was for a birthday.
The problem arose on the evening of the reservation: we arrived at a closed restaurant. I called the restaurant/hotel's number, but the person who answered seemed very surprised by my call and explained that it was closed on Friday evenings (the date of the reservation). They simply wished me a good evening.
I found myself 45 km from home at 7:30 pm without a table and without a restaurant to welcome us. For my mother's birthday...
The result: I drove 90 km for nothing, a birthday meal ruined by a lack of professionalism.
Again, I'm not judging the food at all; there's a reason I chose this restaurant, 45km from my home.
But I can't forgive the mistake, which is why I'm writing this review.
I advise all future customers to reconfirm all reservations 24 or 48 hours in advance; this will save you a very unpleasant surprise.
