07/02/2026: Just steps from Place d'Italie, the restaurant is pleasant and the service is friendly. The dining room is welcoming, but the neighbors are a little too close. The dishes are good, varied, and generous. The mochi are excellent, and the staff is impeccable in case of a mistake with the flavor. Thank you for this dinner.

02/03/2026: Excellent restaurant offering, among other things, an all-you-can-eat hot pot and skewers. The list of broths and ingredients is extensive, there's something for everyone, and the quality is impeccable. The waitresses are lovely and attentive. A very good Chinese restaurant in Paris!

25/02/2026: One star for the service. The waitress asked us three times in ten minutes if the last customer would be arriving soon, even though we had already ordered our appetizers. We were this close to leaving to eat elsewhere. But the ravioli were delicious.

10/07/2025: It was, for me, by far, an incredible experience. Starting with the delicious dishes, with a consistent number of choices, you can try everything and be full at the end. It's perfect. Incredible service, super friendly staff, even though we arrived unexpectedly. A gentleman from the staff recognized my friends who had already been there. This same server offered us super-friendly puzzles that foster teamwork, not just about everyone's food. No phones. Honestly, we had a great time. We had a wonderful evening. 11/02/2026: Spicy crab hot pot is a rare find in Paris. Each person has their own individual pot, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene. The ingredients are fresh, and the flavor is rich. The service is attentive, and 2 hours of free parking is included, along with valet parking – a rarity in the city center and very convenient. The comfortable environment is suitable for gatherings with friends or family.

10/02/2026: This was my second time eating here, and I was surprised to find that the all-you-can-eat hot pot also had options like chicken pot, spicy crab, and spicy shrimp. It was such a great deal! The food was also very good. Although it was an all-you-can-eat buffet, the portions were huge. I was full after ordering just the first round. The ice jelly and the bursting brown sugar glutinous rice cakes were absolutely amazing!

04/03/2026: I chose the barbecue and hot pot combo when I arrived, because I specifically came here for the barbecue option. However, no one informed me that barbecue is not available for single diners. I only discovered this after I had already taken many ingredients from the self-service area. At that point I was told that I could not use the barbecue and that the payment could not be refunded. This situation was extremely frustrating. If I had known in advance that barbecue was not available for one person, I simply would not have chosen this restaurant. The information should have been clearly communicated before ordering or displayed somewhere obvious. Because it was not explained beforehand, I ended up paying for something I could not actually have. I hope the restaurant can make this policy clearer to future customers so that others do not run into the same situation.

05/12/2025: We ate here last night while staying at the Hyatt Regency Etoile in Paris. The food was so good! We had egg rolls, fried shrimp and dumplings for appetizers and then shared a bowl of the duck soup (so good and on a cold night it sure hit the spot!) Topped it off with green teas ice cream. I would definitely recommend for a very reasonably priced and tasty meal!

18/02/2026: We come often and it's always packed, so be sure to book on weekends. The rice is unlimited, which is rare in Paris. The chicken with tripe and taro (you have to book) is really worth it; the taro is incredibly tender. The rabbit is good and boneless, perfect if you like spicy food. The new duck is also excellent, ideal with a drink.

The refreshing mushroom and spinach provided a light contrast, and the classic yet deeply satisfying dry-fried green beans were full of flavor. The house specialty, “Kenken Duck,” which combines duck neck, chicken wings, pork ribs, and sweet potato fries, brought together a delightful mix of textures and flavors, making the New Year’s Eve dinner truly abundant and joyful. On a slightly chilly evening, the predominantly spicy dishes paired perfectly with refreshing hibiscus tea and aloe vera juice, which helped cleanse the palate. The warm, soft pumpkin rice cakes with brown sugar syrup were also a pleasant surprise. This restaurant, Dao Restaurant (55 Bd Saint-Marcel, 75013 Paris), comes highly recommended for seasoned lovers of spicy food—the heat is authentic and natural, with fragrance taking precedence over pure spiciness. A classic choice for festive occasions and gatherings with close friends.
