17/09/2024: Sehr nettes, schön gestaltetes Restaurant im Herzen von Perigueux. Stimmungsvolle Atmosphäre, sehr gut gestaltet, nicht verkitscht. Freundlicher Service und sehr gute Küche mit tagesfrischen Zutaten. Für mich die beste Foie gras weit und breit.

Dans une très belle cave voûtée, une déco de bon goût Des serveuses à l' écoute et professionnelles Le tout avec une cuisine raffinée, une déclinaison de couleurs ds l assiettes et une explosion de saveurs en bouche. 21/08/2024: I went to this restaurant last week with my mother to mark the end of our holidays. We were very much looking forward to our meal after a day of visiting; the restaurant was recommended in the BIB Gourmand guide, which highlighted the ris de veau, a dish my mother particularly favours. We had a slight hesitation when we saw the prices (EUR65 for the evening menu, pricey for a BIB restaurant) but decided to treat ourselves. The mise en bouche and starters were excellent - I had the Pain Perdu, my mother chose the vichyssoise - and the service was cordial, as advertised. We found the servings rather stingy, notably the glass of wine I had which was small by French standards, and we were offered a caviar supplement which we declined. Things started to go wrong with the main courses: I had the foie gras and my mother chose the ris de veau. While my dish was good, it was nothing exceptional; my mother's main course was inedible, the sauce was too salty and powerful, it completely overpowered the vegetables, which were slightly undercooked. My mother could not eat it and - after giving me a bite which confirmed the dish was inedible - she returned it to the chef, largely uneaten. I often eat out with my mother and this was the first time to my knowledge that she had returned a dish to the chef. Fifteen minutes later, the chef comes to see us and explains at length why his dish was perfect and my mother was wrong to return to say it was too salty. He said three other people in the kitchen had tasted the dish and found it perfect - presumably these three people are his employees. I was particularly shocked by the chef's arrogant tone, and the fact that he did not offer to serve my mother another dish to replace the one she had returned. We didn't want to argue so we just nodded and continued with our meal. We had our desserts and coffee - which were excellent - and then came the bill. The restaurant made us pay the full whack, including the EUR15 supplement for the ris de veau which my mother had returned uneaten. We would have expected better from a restaurant with this reputation (and price point).
20/08/2024: Nous étions deux et nous espérions beaucoup de ce restaurant. Je l’avais choisi car il y avait du ris-de-veau au menu à 65€ (avec un supplément de 15€) et que j’en suis particulièrement friande. J’en prends souvent au restaurant. Tout commence très bien par un amuse-bouche, crème de curcuma et quenelle de glace aux olives remarquable qui augurait bien de la suite et restera mon bon souvenir de ce repas avec le dessert qui contenait des éclats sucrés d’olive délicieux (le chef brille donc dans son traitement de ce fruit). Les entrées signalent une cuisine raffinée. Parts petites, nous notons un léger sur-salage, mais c’est très bon. Arrive le ris-de-veau laqué à la truffe noire. Première bouchée. Je suis saisie par un fort goût salé. Deuxième bouchée : je n’arrive à distinguer aucun autre goût que celui du sel. Immangeable. Je fais goûter le plat à ma fille qui m’accompagne. Même verdict. Et pour la première fois de ma déjà longue vie (78 ans) et de ma fréquentation de bons restaurants, souvent étoilés, je renvoie (très poliment) le plat en cuisine. Après une attente assez longue survient le chef, Cyril Haberland, qui m’explique longuement qu’il n’y a pas de sel dans le plat, qu’il a fait goûter le plat en cuisine par trois personnes (des employés ?) qui n’ont rien trouvé d’anormal. Il me propose de me faire un plat de légumes car refaire le plat prendrait 40 minutes. Pas la moindre excuse. Aucune prise en compte de mon ressenti et beaucoup d’arrogance. Le client aurait-il toujours tort? L’incident gâche la suite de la soirée. Nous prenons les desserts excellents et un très bon café qui nous consolent à peine. Ce devait être la fête de la fin de nos vacances communes. Nous trouvons étonnante la réaction du chef et espérons au moins un geste commercial qui tienne compte de ma perception. Arrive l’addition. Aucun rabais. Le restaurateur n’a même pas fait sauter le supplément sur le ris de veau. Je découvre que la carafe d’eau plate a été facturée 6€, alors que ce n’était pas signalé et que, si cela l’avait été, j’aurais demandé de l’eau du robinet. Soirée gâchée. Le chef, dont la cuisine est prometteuse aurait-il « pris la grosse tête? ». J’écris aussi au Guide Michelin.

11/05/2024: Absolutely fabulous little restaurant in a lovely peaceful square in the midday of Perigeaux.We was warmly welcomed by i assume the owner who fortunately spoke English as our French is limited and shown the lunchtime menu which although some would say was limited it covered all your requirements.We both had the crab to start with my wife having perfectly cooked (medium rare) steak for her main and me the sweet breads cooked in a mushroom sauce with the obligatory cheese to finnish everything was excellent,washed down with a lovely rose wine all for €100 outstanding value,food,service and setting DO NOT miss this restaurant if your ever in the area. Many thanks for a wonderful lunch Gary & Liz

07/09/2024: Excellent ! Des recettes originales, en particulier la Bordelaise, délicieuse et à la saveur équilibrée qui met à l’honneur le grenier médocain (moi qui n’aime pas les tripes !). Et la crêpe au beurre salé… si simple et pourtant un régal ! Et le tout pour un tarif raisonnable ! Une vraie crêperie de qualité, mais où l’on a le droit de se faire plaisir ! Bravo !

22/09/2024: If you ever want to order cold drinks after a hot summer day, it's simply impossible... Yes yes from 6 p.m. the staff will tell you (without further explanation) that the drinks service is no longer available, on a Saturday, at 6:15 p.m., in the city center... The comedy of this situation! It's something to laugh about but I understand that my two poor drinks were not tempting enough to increase the turnover at the end of the day. Probably lazy on the part of the staff to have to go get two drinks and collect 15 poor euros... The terrace was almost full of people who, like us, were drinking drinks, and the funny thing is that when we came back 30 minutes later, there were no people inside or out. Obviously drinkers are turned away from this establishment like at the entrance to a nightclub, in 20 years and even in larger cities I have never seen or heard this excuse. Having asked people in the industry, they have never heard that too 😂 In short, if you are going to drink at this address, move on.

De l'apéritif jusqu'au dessert les plats furent magnifiques et surtout délicieux. Nous avons apprécié la petite note personnalisée pour Louise. Nous vous souhaitons une belle continuation pour la suite.
29/08/2024: Very expensive restaurant! 350€ for 3 surprise menus of 49€ and a menu of 59€!! So a bottle of wine, two glasses of white wine, a non-alcoholic cocktail, 4 small cheese dishes and 4 coffees for €140!!!!! And what's more, the dishes weren't exceptional either. (Lukewarm duck breast) This restaurant is a thieves, move on, there are many other restaurants in Perigueux that are much better and much less expensive.

21/08/2024: Very pleasant and quiet terrace, super friendly service. The food itself was a bit disappointing. Everything was tasty and the salad was nice and fresh, but all the warm vegetables were cooked too much, making them a mush. A little more bite would have been tastier. But it's fun!
12/08/2024: A good little vegetarian restaurant located in the historic center of Périgueux. There is a menu with 2 choices of starters, main courses and desserts, prepared at home and with love. The cooking seems to be done as a family, we are well received, it’s friendly! Ideal for children with games and something to help them have a good time at the table.

15/09/2024: Un accueil sympathique prépare un bon dîner. Le confit de canard accompagné de pommes sarladaises parfaites fut un excellent plat. Le pécharmant est bon, mais un peu cher. Petite salle, mieux vaut réserver.

16/09/2024: For a Michelin starred restaurant, we were pleased with the food, however we were disappointed in the service provided. For a standard 3-course meal (entrée, main, dessert), we spent a total of 3 hours at the table, as the wait for each course was very long. At our arrival, we were greeted by a waitress and our order was taken by a second older waitress. Pleasantly surprised by their wine selection, we made a few pictures of the wine menu as a remembrance and to research the wines in our own time. This second waitress noticed and harshly asked us why we were taking a picture. Following our explanation and apology (her tone implied that was she not pleased by this), we offered to delete the photos off our phones. She then replied in a cold manner, saying there was no need, but that she prefers that customers ask first, before taking pictures. We understood her point, however her tone was extremely unpleasant and nobody had told us/it wasn't indicated anywhere that pictures of the menu were not allowed. This set an awkward tone for us as customers, as we hesitated to take photos of the nicely presented dishes throughout the night, for fear of being scowled at again. There were also a few details we noticed, such as the lack of table cloth, no individual plates for the bread (nowhere for each person to put their piece of bread, eventually needing to put it back onto the serving plate or on the table, which is a bit improper). Although the food was good, our experience (especially in regards to the customer service) was not very pleasant overall, we will not be dining there again.
