04/04/2026: We confirm the positive and entirely justified reviews regarding the quality of the food served, the wine recommendations, and the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. Just one small drawback: the noise coming from the open kitchen, particularly at the end of service when the dishes are being washed. The repetitive noise of the coffee machine with a built-in grinder on the bar is also very unpleasant.

25/07/2026: A restaurant in the heart of Saint-Étienne with a shaded terrace, a refined daily special featuring two fish and two meat dishes accompanied by fresh vegetables from the local farmers' market, a lovely dessert menu, and all at a very reasonable price. A very pleasant family meal. A sixth star for the immediate care of our four-legged companion who was with us. Impeccable service. Thank you for this lunch.
08/07/2026: I was blown away by the warm welcome from the staff at Café de L'Opera; they were truly attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, perfect for an evening with family or friends. The value for money is excellent.

Go without hesitation, everything is fresh, everything is homemade, the owner, his wife, and their son are really attentive and very friendly. It's a shame this kind of cuisine is disappearing; I truly enjoyed my meal.

04/10/2026: We had eaten at this restaurant before and were happy with it, but this time it was a nightmare. The frog legs were undercooked with very little parsley, and the dauphinoise potatoes were a bit hard and tasteless, served with a salad that was just a single leaf on a plate. The worst part was the dessert. The waiter offered us the dessert menu, and we ordered the tarte tatin, which I think was the only dish we liked. We overheard the owner criticizing the waiter in front of everyone, saying he shouldn't have served us that dessert because it was reserved for another table. Even when it came time to pay the bill, she remarked that we shouldn't have ordered it. To make matters worse, I was sick all night with stomach pains. I don't usually make such comments about restaurants; I'm usually pretty easygoing. I feel sorry for the poor waiter; he does everything while the owner does her accounting and makes comments in front of people who come to enjoy a peaceful meal. Honestly, avoid this place!
29/09/2026: Nothing special. Coffee was €2.50. Grated cheese was served during happy hour. I didn't have a good time.
