24/05/2026: A real gem! This traditional pub exudes the authentic charm of the North: warm decor, a friendly atmosphere, and top-notch service. You feel right at home as soon as you walk through the door. The dishes are generous, homemade, and bursting with flavor, with a special mention for the perfectly executed regional specialties. The staff is smiling, attentive, and passionate. It's the kind of place you visit once... and then happily return to. An excellent spot for a great time with friends or family. I recommend it 100%!
24/05/2026: Excellent restaurant! Friendly service, great atmosphere, and the pork ribs were incredible, absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it!

26/05/2026: A warm welcome...and then...I won't tell you...(a potje vleesch...yum!!) but after all...it's up to you...and enjoy this little pub!
18/05/2026: The food was special, but the fries are fantastically tasty: hand-cut and perfectly fried. The service was partly in Flemish; and the atmosphere was very French, so cozy. Highly recommended!

09/05/2026: The value for money wasn't quite what we expected: the gravlax salmon was excellent, and the lemon dessert was very good. However, the asparagus was too crunchy and therefore undercooked, the beef wasn't cooked to the specifications given when we ordered, the beef consommé was bland, the cappuccino wasn't really a cappuccino, and the chocolate petits fours were of average quality. As for the service, there was no butter on the table; they gave us the number of sugars we requested and we left with the different varieties. A shame.

23/04/2026: A wonderful discovery at this Cassel restaurant. The best in the region. A table of six, with different choices, everything was perfect: the quality of the meat, the fish, and the side dishes. Fresh, primarily local produce, cooked to perfection. And what can we say about the staff? Attentive, discreet, smiling, and incredibly caring.
We highly recommend this establishment. Congratulations!

Excellent value for money.
The prices are not at all excessive.
The different menus we chose were all excellent.
There are four dining rooms in total. The one we were in was charming, with a wood fire where the chef cooks his meat.
Groups are welcome.
In the summer, there's a terrace for outdoor dining.
We'll be back in the summer to enjoy the terrace and the excellent food.
Note that the "Maître Restaurateur" (Master Restaurateur) sign is displayed at the entrance of the restaurant.

26/05/2026: We had a wonderful evening where Carla, Michel, and Vasco's friendliness made us feel right at home. The meal was full of surprises, including excellent prawns!

17/05/2026: An ideal hotel for hikers: clean room, hot shower, comfortable bedding. Add to that Michel and his wife, who make your stay enjoyable with a wealth of information, and you'll be delighted to come to Cassel.

11/05/2026: A lovely pub with a beautiful setting, both inside and out, and very attractive interior decor. There aren't as many traditional Flemish games available inside as in other pubs. The carbonnade was a bit of a disappointment; it lacked sweetness and was rather bland. The Welsh rarebit, however, was very good. They have a great beer selection!
The service was a little cold and the food was a bit slow to arrive.
01/04/2026: Great atmosphere with lots of regulars. It's warm and welcoming, just like a traditional pub should be.

17/05/2026: The welcome, service, meal, and atmosphere were all perfect. The meal was excellent, with incredibly high-quality flavors. The staff were impolite and always smiling during our interactions. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time, and the presentation was exquisite. I highly recommend it.

Very warm welcome, we feel good.
Top children's menu with homemade minced steak and a very generous portion.
Typical Flanders dishes (homemade potj, carbonnades, croquettes, etc.) at the top.
The chef goes into the room to greet customers and collect opinions.
I recommend. Good choice of beers and draft beers in particular (the triple Lefort…um)

14/06/2024: Recommend this restaurant not only for excellent food and great views over France but for the hospitality shown by the owner/chef. His friendly nature and willingness to chat to you after has finished cooking is not to be found in many restaurants. The staff always have a smile and are very helpful even if they struggle to understand our poor French.
We have been going regularly over the years and is one of our highlights to our trips to France. Thank you for welcoming us

06/06/2024: A pleasant waitress welcomed us and asked if we would like to sit inside or out. We chose inside so were directed to a corner table with no view, no panoramique from there!
The table would have benefitted from a good clean but someone had taken the trouble to wedge beer mats under one leg to stop it wobbling.
We both had beers, one of the glasses was chipped in two places on the rim.
Our food was acceptable but very standard fare, fine if just seeking to assuage hunger but not so good if looking for a memorable experience.
