24/08/2026: A very nice place with a lovely terrace, a good menu, and generous, tasty dishes. Overall, a pleasant place. A minor drawback, however, is the staff, who can sometimes be a little condescending, which is a shame.
22/08/2026: We absolutely loved this restaurant! The meal was excellent and the waitress was very kind. A special touch was the dessert, which was served to us on the terrace outside. We'll definitely be back soon!

08/09/2026: A brief moment out of time.
When I was planning my week's vacation in Seine-et-Marne, and more specifically my visit to Barbizon, I had initially chosen a different restaurant. Unusually, I checked the reviews for that establishment. The poor quality of service was mentioned several times... So I looked for another and came across Le Gaulois. There, the reviews were glowing about the hospitality.
So I decided to eat at Le Gaulois. After my experience, I'm very happy with my choice.
I had a truly relaxing time there, which greatly enhanced my well-being for the day.
I was first greeted by a woman of rare beauty, elegance, and grace. Smiling and gentle, I realized that she was probably the one I had texted when I made my reservation. I smiled afterward because the three young men serving and working the bar also looked like they'd stepped out of a modeling agency! Helpful and smiling without ever being obsequious, they took excellent care of me throughout my meal. I had lunch in a small, covered courtyard, which was also particularly charming.
The eggs meurette were excellent, the beef fillet exceptionally tender, and the homemade fries perfectly complemented the rest of the meal. The floating island dessert with its crème anglaise completed this complete success.
I hope to return before I leave; it all depends on some acquaintances I need to meet before my departure.

05/09/2026: Appalling service. It's hard to even call this place a restaurant—that's what they present themselves as, after all.
The waitress speaks to customers as if I'd walked into her house at midnight and was disturbing her. No respect, no basic courtesy whatsoever.
I've never encountered such terrible service anywhere in the world. If you want to ruin your day, you've come to the right place.

28/08/2026: The food was very good, but there was a problem with the balance of the dishes (the zucchini was too much and something was missing), and they shouldn't be called tapas. The cheese platter was so unrecognizable that we didn't know what we were eating... and the bill was hefty!
15/08/2026: We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. Arriving first, around 12:20 pm on August 15th, we ordered three dishes to share: shrimp tartare, soft meatballs, and octopus. The tartare was excellent, fresh, and well-seasoned. The meatballs were flavorful with a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for those who like toast soldiers. The octopus was tender, and the side dish of leek, tomato, and buckwheat was simple but pleasant. A truly excellent culinary experience! We also tried the desserts: mango and peanut from a local pastry chef, accompanied by ice cream from the artisan across the street. The mango was superb, the peanut could have used a little more depth, but overall, the experience was excellent. We highly recommend it!

20/08/2026: Excellent. The service was impeccable, matching the quality of the food. Everything was delicious, from the appetizer to the dessert, which was a sublime tarte tatin (yes, the whole tart!) to share. The sushi, surprisingly, was very good. Surprising because you wouldn't expect to find Japanese and Western cuisine together in this establishment.
I loved it! Thank you for this fabulous dinner.
12/08/2026: I was very disappointed. I had carefully chosen this establishment for a cozy and high-quality lunch break. The setting lives up to the photos; no complaints there. You're surrounded by greenery, enjoying the mild summer weather in the shade of the trees. However, the lunch menu was very, very disappointing. The dishes lacked any finesse, the salad was over-seasoned and half-cooked.
The service was cold, not to say unpleasant, and shockingly slow. The responses to negative reviews from the manager speak volumes about the lack of a smile and the feeling of almost being a bother when you ask for something.
I suppose the evening experience must be different to generate such positive reviews, which I had relied on. I'm not used to such negative reviews, but between the disappointment of what we ate, the bill being far too high for what it was, and the person behind it all, it's difficult to give a different rating.

07/03/2026: A reservation request made the day before was never confirmed or refused, with no response whatsoever. There's no point in offering online reservations if this is how it works. We arrived at opening time for a table of five, unsure if our reservation had gone through, and were turned away. The restaurant was completely empty. The person I spoke to wasn't particularly friendly and offered no apology for the lack of confirmation.
02/03/2026: We arrived as a party of 12, and this clearly posed a problem for the waitress. The welcome was particularly cold: no audible or pleasant greeting, unlike the customers who arrived after us. Her closed-off attitude left no room for doubt. She curtly told us not to sit where we had chosen, then gestured towards tables in the back that she was "going to prepare," without any further explanation or courtesy. A more respectful and professional welcome would have been appreciated.

Bistrot de l'Hôtellerie du Bas-Breau

14/06/2026: We chose this hotel for the pool…unfortunately it was closed, but we weren't informed beforehand. The garden was poorly maintained, and there were only four sun loungers for the entire hotel. The reception was cold, and the room was comfortable but not spotless (a lightbulb was out, the toilet seat was broken…). Nothing lived up to a 4-star rating except the price. We won't be returning.
14/06/2026: This hotel is nowhere near the standard of a 4-star establishment. It honestly barely deserves 3 stars, more like 2. It's very outdated, poorly maintained, the pool was broken and unusable (we weren't even informed before our stay), and the breakfast was 100% pre-packaged, yet still cost €21 per person. The staff were friendly but untrained and very poorly dressed. There's a hotel undergoing major renovations right across the street. The competition is going to be fierce.

02/08/2024: Une ambiance de cure thermale avec une salle occupée quasiment que par les résidents de l’hôtel.
La carte qui paraissait intéressante n’aura pas été à la hauteur de nos attentes.
Peu d’inspiration pour le dressage des assiettes, un saumon gravlax avec une salaison mal gérée en sel, un bar hélas trop cuit, seul moment de plaisir, le moelleux au chocolat à la fève Tonka.
Pour des menus à 55€, la quête d’émotions n’aura été au rendez-vous que sur la note.
La situation de Barbizon et ses peintres mythiques ne peuvent pas tout excuser. On peut s’attendre à une autre prestation de la part d’un tel établissement.
J’espère simplement que, comme cela peut arriver, nous soyons venus le mauvais jour.
09/07/2024: Plats savoureux et copieux avec juste ce qu'il faut de variété pour mettre en valeur l'ingrédient principal comme les gambas par exemple. Tout çà servi avec des grands sourires - les deux serveuses sont adorables
