Restaurant Hotel du Cheval Blanc

19/05/2026: We had a meal today with my son and daughter. We were delighted.
The meal was excellent from start to finish. The welcome was warm. The waiter was lovely. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend it. Especially if you're passing through Vézelay, don't hesitate.

28/04/2026: It has to be said that this picturesque place, Vézelay, is a bit run-down. The state of the streets isn't great! Many of the houses and shops are unoccupied and in a state of disrepair! You can tell you're in the last century, the era of Vidocq or stagecoaches! I visited this little town during a trip to Auxerre, so I stopped in Vézelay, which had been a long-held plan. The basilica was under renovation at the time! I didn't visit the inn, so I can't comment on that.
20/04/2026: I didn't use the hotel's services, just the restaurant. I enjoyed the food (including the vegetarian options), however, two shortcomings in the service at our table concerned me. The staff remained courteous and apologized, but offered no compensation.

Auberge de la Coquille

22/09/2026: Upon our admittedly late arrival at 1:30 pm, we received a less than warm welcome from the waitress. The bread basket was practically thrown in our faces, and cleanliness was nonexistent. The fabric tablecloth was covered in stains, concealed by paper placemats. The food was mediocre, with only a single teaspoon of jam placed on a barely folded crepe. And the restrooms... I won't even mention them. A tourist trap. We were concerned about hygiene.
Avoid this place.
12/09/2026: Staff not very friendly, the food needs improvement, the salad had sand in it, the green beans looked like plastic, in short, many things need improvement.

20/09/2026: Arrived at 2:15 PM. We received a very warm welcome in the dining room with our dog.
For a quick and delicious lunch.
Excellent value for money.
We recommend it.
20/09/2026: An old-fashioned village pub, with many locals as well. Where do you still find that in Vézelay? Try the Melon here, from Les Celliers de l’Abbaye.

La Dent Creuse

18/08/2024: Absolument horrible je suis passé au distributeur de Clamecy la dent creuse et les pizza avait le goût de plastique et métal avec une pate horrible et fine c’était presque imangable pour le prix (35€ pour 3 pizza) c’est une arnaque
20/04/2024: L’accueil est glacial, le patron se montre impoli, voire irrespectueux, aussi aimable qu’une porte de prison.
Le personnel se cache pour éviter de servir les clients.
La qualité de la nourriture est désastreuse : des œufs meurette, en provenance directe de chez Métro, avec une sauce insipide, une biscotte brûlée en guise de croûtons, et pas la moindre trace de lardons…
Les plats sont si affreux que même mes pires souvenirs de cantine scolaire sont surpassés !
Le menu prétend proposer des plats « fait maison », mais c’est une pure escroquerie : il n’y a rien d’artisanal dans cette affaire !
Seuls les prix atteignent un niveau remarquable!
