Restaurant Hotel du Cheval Blanc

19/05/2026: We had a meal today with my son and daughter. We were delighted.
The meal was excellent from start to finish. The welcome was warm. The waiter was lovely. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend it. Especially if you're passing through Vézelay, don't hesitate.

28/07/2026: Lunch this Tuesday, July 29, 2026. Arriving just before the rush without a reservation, I was kindly seated. I received excellent service, despite the crowds filling the restaurant. However, I made the mistake of ordering one savory buckwheat galette and one sweet crêpe: I'm not in Brittany, and I was therefore quite disappointed by these bland treats. On the other hand, the price was very reasonable at €15.
I might return to order a more local dish (vegetarian? That's complicated in this region!) or a simple fresh salad. The place is pleasant, and the service was very good considering the circumstances.
22/07/2026: You don't immediately notice this restaurant when strolling through the pedestrian streets... But then a smell catches your eye... the aroma of Époisses cheese tart! Inside, you find yourself in a timeless world! A charming dining room and a terrace to enjoy the cool summer evenings. A simple yet incredibly effective menu. Quick service. Smiling and welcoming staff. Delicious dishes... you stop by chance and return for pleasure.

28/04/2026: It has to be said that this picturesque place, Vézelay, is a bit run-down. The state of the streets isn't great! Many of the houses and shops are unoccupied and in a state of disrepair! You can tell you're in the last century, the era of Vidocq or stagecoaches! I visited this little town during a trip to Auxerre, so I stopped in Vézelay, which had been a long-held plan. The basilica was under renovation at the time! I didn't visit the inn, so I can't comment on that.
20/04/2026: I didn't use the hotel's services, just the restaurant. I enjoyed the food (including the vegetarian options), however, two shortcomings in the service at our table concerned me. The staff remained courteous and apologized, but offered no compensation.

18/08/2024: Absolument horrible je suis passé au distributeur de Clamecy la dent creuse et les pizza avait le goût de plastique et métal avec une pate horrible et fine c’était presque imangable pour le prix (35€ pour 3 pizza) c’est une arnaque
20/04/2024: L’accueil est glacial, le patron se montre impoli, voire irrespectueux, aussi aimable qu’une porte de prison.
Le personnel se cache pour éviter de servir les clients.
La qualité de la nourriture est désastreuse : des œufs meurette, en provenance directe de chez Métro, avec une sauce insipide, une biscotte brûlée en guise de croûtons, et pas la moindre trace de lardons…
Les plats sont si affreux que même mes pires souvenirs de cantine scolaire sont surpassés !
Le menu prétend proposer des plats « fait maison », mais c’est une pure escroquerie : il n’y a rien d’artisanal dans cette affaire !
Seuls les prix atteignent un niveau remarquable!
