16/08/2026: The food is good and well-presented; the chef is truly talented. However, the service and atmosphere are a disaster. We arrived on time with a reservation. The waiter walked past us three times without looking at us or acknowledging our greeting. We had to go to the kitchen to be seated. Then it took half an hour to get the menu and an hour and a half to get our food. Alterations between the owners and customers are becoming increasingly frequent. Here, a couple's children weren't being well-behaved. There was a billing error. As a result, some customers left the restaurant without having been served. In short, you get the feeling the staff is completely overwhelmed and taking their frustrations out on the customers. Yet, the restaurant wasn't even full.

15/08/2026: The food was excellent and we received a very warm welcome. The only slight drawback was the somewhat slow service: it took an hour for the starters and almost as long for the main course.

22/08/2026: An authentic and welcoming restaurant with a superb view of the Nivelle River. The dishes are refined and the staff is very friendly.

15/08/2026: It was our first time there; we're from the area and love fish restaurants. But things started going downhill as soon as we arrived. We had a reservation, but they assigned us a table in a very drafty spot. When we asked for another table, even though many were empty, the waiter, who seemed a bit older, balked and said he couldn't move us. We insisted, and he finally agreed, but with a sour look on his face. He didn't even try to speak to us once. We were poorly seated on narrow, uncomfortable benches. We ordered John Dory and monkfish, after having grilled anchovies as a starter. There was a long wait between the two courses, which ended up arriving cold. I had to ask for mayonnaise to go with my monkfish, which was only good in appearance. All of this took place in a very unpleasant atmosphere. And 10 minutes after being served, they asked us if we were finished, the waitress ready to clear our plates, while we were still eating! 🤑 So we didn't have dessert or coffee!!! Very disappointed because €80 without drinks, dessert, or coffee. For me, that's throwing money away. We do not recommend it!!! Basque hospitality needs improvement!!!

09/08/2026: If you're in Bayonne and want a good pizza, don't be lazy, leave the tourist area and come to Lorenzos.

02/08/2026: Excellent. Intimate and simple lunch on the terrace. Quality ingredients and a local menu. Pleasant service. It feels like home.

29/07/2026: The Etchebarne restaurant in Mendionde boasts a spacious and beautiful dining room, nicely temperature-controlled. The tables are attractively set, and the welcome is warm and friendly. However, the "garbure" is a disappointment from the outset, a misnomer, as this simple vegetable soup would have required the addition of Tarbais beans, pork knuckle, and duck confit! Later, the duck confit and the breaded hake, each accompanied by half a potato with maître d'hôtel butter, were quite good, as was the coq au vin with its small chocolate tuile. The meal concluded with a very good coffee. Ultimately, the bill was rather high: almost €40 per person for soup, a main course, a flan, and coffee. The value for money is therefore significantly less favorable than in most restaurants in the area.
