12/06/2026: **Getting ripped off at lunchtime 🫒😅** Tried it today at La Verrière in Boulogne. Verdict? A complete rip-off. I tried the chicken and mozzarella croque monsieur for €15.90. Frankly, it was bland and dry. Inside, the chicken tenders were cut so perfectly, down to the millimeter, that the industrial tray was practically opened in a hurry. Zero effort, wasted zucchini, a completely invisible béchamel sauce, and no seasoning whatsoever. The only positive point was the Poilâne bread: a nice gray crumb, nice and crusty, but it doesn't make a meal. To top it all off, the salad is… extra! Add a half-pint of flat beer (obviously from the end of the keg), and you end up with a total of €23.59 for two pieces of bread and three vacuum-packed pieces of chicken. In football jargon, we call that getting ripped off. Price-wise, the rest of the menu is outrageous: beef cheek for €26 (the cheapest cut on the butcher's counter, you have to hand it to them) and sea bream for €27. Then they wonder why customers are abandoning traditional brasseries for fast food… I'm only giving it 2/5 because the staff were okay and the terrace on the main square is quite pleasant for people-watching. You seriously need to rethink your approach, La Verrière. You can't serve mediocre food at the price of a near-Michelin-starred restaurant. It just doesn't work.

06/09/2026: After seeing that the coffee in various local establishments came from here, we came to the source. Very good coffee (coconut milk option 🫶🏻) and a rich chocolate brownie. Not much room inside, but there's a very pleasant terrace. The service was super friendly, a big thank you!

10/09/2026: I'm becoming a regular at this place. When I can find a table, that is! The food, the atmosphere, everything is just perfect. The name is fitting, and life is good there. Nino, a friendly and experienced waiter, is fantastic.

31/07/2026: A solid 4-star experience, though not quite a total favorite Chez Max et Nico is a cozy spot with a simple menu and a exceptionally friendly staff. The service was impressively fast and efficient—we finished our meal in an hour without feeling rushed. Food-wise, the terrine starter was delicious with a great sauce (though a thicker slice would have been welcome), while the snails were decent but not memorable. For mains, the beef was properly cooked with homemade fries, and the sea bream was very tasty with a great sauce (though the fish portion was on the smaller side). Why 4 stars instead of 5: - Portion sizes felt slightly light overall. - A €12 supplement for the beef dish on a €32 menu feels a bit steep. - No air conditioning on a very hot day, which made it hard to linger. Final check: €92 for two (2 starter + main menus, plus 2 glasses of wine for €15). Overall, a really pleasant and enjoyable meal, just missing a few details to reach top marks.

18/08/2026: I ordered the Palak Paneer expecting it to contain genuine paneer (Indian soft cheese), but what I received seemed to contain some kind of cream or other substitute. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst Palak Paneer dishes I have ever tasted. If you offer dishes containing paneer, please use genuine paneer rather than substituting it with something else. This can be particularly misleading for local customers who may not know what real paneer looks like. I sincerely hope you will use genuine Indian soft cheese in your dishes and respect the authentic name and recipe of Palak Paneer.

10/08/2026: Being of Lebanese origin, Chez Madeleine is probably one of the best Lebanese restaurants in the capital. The quality of the food is exceptional. Be warned, however, that the prices are particularly high.
