13/03/2024: It's an izakaya, a restaurant serving REAL Japanese dishes, not European-style sushi.
A cuisine as tasty and sought-after as ever. Real traditional recipes (poteto salada, gyoza, etc.).
The previous owner retired and returned to Japan, the new team is charming and dynamic, they speak Japanese with the regulars! The decor has been completely revised and modernized but the menu and suggestions remain as high quality as ever. For me, it remains the best Japanese restaurant in Lyon.
The bill may seem steep but it's well worth it.
Be careful, I repeat, this is not a sushi restaurant, even if they have some on the menu... Go ahead if that's what you're looking for.
09/03/2024: Everything was delicious, from the chirashi to the green tea chocolate fondant. The service was there! Very pleasant atmosphere we will come back to taste the rest of the menu :)

16/03/2024: Kaiseki menu: subtle balance of flavors, texture and colors in pure tradition
We find exactly the soul of the Kaiseki dinners from our trip to Japan. The chef's menu is a reflection of the traditional gourmet meal served in a ryokan (doll's kitchen made up of different small dishes with refined flavors). The products are fresh, perfectly processed (hence sometimes a little waiting between dishes because the preparation is meticulous). The service is attentive and smiling and the dishes are so kawaii. For us, it is the restaurant closest to the quality traditional Japanese cuisine that we tasted there. We will come back. Thank you to the team for this exceptional moment.

03/04/2024: Very satisfied with our experience in this restaurant, the staff is super welcoming and friendly, we got on well with them, the taste of each dish is incredible, we loved everything! 08/03/2024: Ordered Uber this evening, honestly I can't say why but it wasn't good. The salmon was not tasty, the avocado a little outdated, the rice not as good as what we are used to eating. In short, disappointed!

The service is impeccable, the smells delicious and the dishes succulent. It smells of quality, passion and the pleasure of hosting at Japontori. I recommend you go there with your eyes closed :)

We were very well received, the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The view of the grills is very nice and you really feel the mastery of the cook!
The food is really very good, we ate really well and although we didn't eat much, we were very full when we left!

04/04/2024: I came to eat there with my girlfriend, being a big fan of sushi and Asian dishes, we had to experience a turntable and the experience was really great, the dishes were super good, well presented and of good quality. not to mention the staff who were very helpful. I highly recommend this address.🙏👍

The sushi there is really delicious and very fresh. Rich and fragrant miso soup. The only downside is that the restaurant closes at 10 p.m., so we were in a bit of a rush to eat.
Other than that I really recommend

21/03/2024: A Sushi restaurant like many others, but the little extra, at least for me who has little time to eat, is that everything is very fresh, we are served very quickly and the couple in charge are charming , the price is very reasonable
The menu has completely changed and is very expanded! I will be able to try lots of new things!! I recommend you come back if you haven't been in a while

05/04/2024: New opinion: one star less because you have to stop the water in the pitchers which are kept in the fridge, the water tastes like sushi, being extremely sensitive to the taste of water, it took away my appetite, please come back to the closed bottles, the rest is still good, impeccable service except for the arguments between the chef and the waitress.

The staff is friendly.
I tasted each dish/dessert, in the evening there must have been around twenty of them and everything was very good.

08/03/2024: The quality is no longer there. Skewers dried out by cooking and served lukewarm, very salty soup and salads, decent salmon, but stringy tuna.

02/04/2024: Slower and slower, behind on orders. The quality is also deteriorating. Ordering takeaway means you're guaranteed to hang around for half an hour in the poorly maintained premises, being pushed around and hit with bags from the horde of delivery men. In short, never again
