30/07/2026: EXTRAORDINARY. I thought I knew Japanese cuisine well, but I was blown away when I discovered this gem… I immediately felt the love and care with which the dishes were prepared. I loved everything: the food, of course, the attentive staff, and the owners, who are absolutely lovely and explain how to optimize your dining experience, with tips and explanations for each dish… I highly recommend it… it's truly a favorite.

21/07/2026: Our favorite Japanese restaurant. We've been coming here since it opened! The tempura is exceptional, and the rest is the best Japanese food you can find in Lyon since the very classy Sakura closed many years ago, sadly. Personally, I always get the Rising Sun menu, which is very comprehensive. But the à la carte menu is also very extensive.

08/08/2026: A small restaurant I stumbled upon, but a pure delight! The fish was exceptionally fresh, the staff very friendly, and the prices reasonable for the quality of the food. Even the wasabi was real wasabi, extracted from the plant, which is rare to find. I highly recommend it.

13/08/2026: The value for money is excellent! For €12.50, the lunch menu is really generous: soup, salad, 6 maki rolls, and rice... The portions are substantial, the welcome is warm and friendly, with a lovely terrace and even a free biscuit at the end. I highly recommend it! 😊

26/07/2026: If you're looking to experience authentic Japanese flavors (dishes, beers, appetizers, sake, etc.) in a relaxed setting far removed from the ostentatious displays of typical Japanese restaurants, then come to La Cantine Japonaise. As for the food, the pork gyoza are delicious, the tori no karaage (tender salad) is excellent, and the katsu-don and ebiten curry udon are also great. I didn't get a chance to try the matcha and dark chocolate cookies, but the mochi ice cream and the green tea/yuzu ice cream are perfect for dessert. A wonderful and unique spot in Lyon!

18/08/2026: No unnecessary waiting...efficient staff...and what's more...it's good....unfortunately, the kitchen seems poorly ventilated and there is smoke in the restaurant....

13/08/2026: I tried it at lunchtime today with a colleague. I was a little worried about the quality given how quickly we were served, but I was very pleasantly surprised: the Tori Special was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. Very good value for money!

29/06/2026: The place and welcome were incredibly warm, you're instantly transported to Japan as soon as you walk through the door :) The front-of-house and kitchen staff are super friendly!
