30/12/2025: Most importantly: it's not too expensive, the food is good quality, they have homemade desserts, and IT'S GOOD. We had a great meal.
The only thing to improve: you shouldn't leave customers standing around for more than a minute without paying attention to them when there are six restaurant staff members working less than a meter away and doing everything but attending to them. I'm not asking for immediate service, just a "hello" to let them know they saw we were there. I was this close to leaving.
But we stayed and enjoyed our meal.
Seriously though, improve the welcome.
After we were seated, the waitress who took care of us was pleasant and very good, but the initial, cold welcome...brrr, needs improvement.)
The tables are a bit too close together.
P.S.: I recommend homemade tiramisu.
10/12/2025: Having just arrived in the area, we discovered some delicious takeaway pizzas! The menu was enticing, and it was so hard to choose. The kids loved the burger pizza, while my wife devoured the salmon one, and I had the rustic one. Everything was perfect (proof being, I even ate the crusts, which almost never happens!). We'll be back!

22/11/2025: We had lunch at this restaurant during the week. The service was impeccable. The pizzas were excellent. Special mention goes to the crust, which was both crispy and soft. Furthermore, the portions were generous. We will gladly return.

31/01/2026: Personally, I was really disappointed with the pizzas and I'm not sure I'll be back.
I don't think the quality of the cheese is good; when the cheese turns black, and given the thin crust, you realize the toppings are also light. And above all, the aggressive response demonstrates bad faith, as you say. Yet, 3 stars isn't a bad rating, and of course, I have photos of the pizzas. Parking is paid nearby unless you park near Aldi.

29/10/2025: We had two vegetarian pizzas, a glass of wine, and an iced tea for €33. The pizza was one of the tastiest we've had in a long time. The owner was very friendly and does everything himself. The atmosphere is okay, the decor simple. The only thing that bothered us was the many small fruit flies.
26/09/2025: A very good pizza, just as it should be. I search in vain for a pizza as good as this at home. The pizza man is always in a good mood and knows his craft. That's how you eat pizza. I go there at least once whenever I'm in the area. This review was six years ago. I've been here many times over the past six years. Every time, I look forward to this delicious pizza and the nice little shop with the always friendly pizzaiolo. I hope I can enjoy such delicious pizza for another six years.

09/07/2025: Lunch at noon with my granddaughters.
Horrible salad, nothing but ribs and barely fresh.
I reported it to the owner, who clearly couldn't care less.
She took the money and that was it.
06/07/2025: A great time spent with family at La Smeralda. The pizzas are excellent, well-filled, and generous. The welcome and service are excellent. I recommend it!

Saturday evening at 9:20 p.m. we were turned away like trash by an arrogant waitress whom we ended up calling out because this person ignored us several times while we were waiting in front of the restaurant. Several tables were available but we were refused access because supposedly there was no longer a single table of 2. While all the tables are tables of 2.... in short.... very disappointed with this behavior. 2 loyal CUSTOMERS lost despite the good food. Fortunately in Chalon there is choice and still friendly and respectful people.

31/08/2024: Certains membres du personnel n’étaient pas très accueillants, le service à table était un peu long ( les personnes à côté de nous sont partis sans avoir reçu l’apéro au bout de 45min). Les pizzas étaient bonnes mais simple. Pour un prix assez élevé pour le coup… le restaurant reste chaleureux.
31/08/2024: Completely rubbish, after 45 minutes of waiting, even though we had reserved, we still didn't have our drinks
The excuse: we don't have any staff, except that there are 5 of them in the theaters!!!

Pâté en croute, veal paupiette with rice and mushroom sauce, and a basic flan without much flavor, a zero Coke and a coffee not even offered.
Total 23.90.

01/11/2024: Nous avons voulu rééssayer une énième fois les pizzas lorsque nous avions des amis, et encore une fois déçu.
Ingrédients de mauvaise qualité et pâte avec aucun goût et cramée.
De plus, le pizzaiolo n'est tellement pas sympathique que l'on a pas envi de revenir. Même pas capable de dire un bonsoir lorsqu'on arrive.
Nous ne reviendrons plus 🤮.

So yes, the pizzas are really loaded with toppings and cheap. It's true. We cannot say the opposite.
But even on a pizza, and perhaps especially on a pizza, you need a little quality for the ingredients, otherwise it's just not great.
Concerning the welcome and the atmosphere, we will describe them as rustic.
And then the desserts... Misery... The profiteroles that come out of the cheap Metro freezers, which you are nevertheless charged quite a lot for.
Pizzas, if you are hungry, are cheap, but without pleasure. On the other hand, desserts, no, it's shameful.
