Massawa
Saint-Vincent-De-Paul, Paris
26/05/2026: I went at 3:45 pm, which is outside of typical lunchtime in France (so there was no one eating), and the service was perfect. I don't remember the name of what I ordered (I've attached a photo), but it was amazing and a huge portion for one person.
A 10/10 place if you can get there.
26/05/2026: Excellent lunch, a welcome respite from the heatwave: a generous, varied, and tasty vegetarian dish, and a leg of lamb dish – tender meat. The service was very friendly, with pleasant Eritrean and Ethiopian music.

20/05/2026: 1000000 stars if I could. Absolutely phenomenal from food to service. This is the best food I have enjoyed in all of France. Must visit and beautiful neighborhood location. Thank you for everything, I would definitely come back
18/05/2026: The restaurant is quiet, located on a low-traffic street.
The welcome is warm and friendly, and you're not seated on top of each other, which is lovely.
The service is quick, and the food is really good (special mention for the swordfish ceviche).
A great find that's well worth a visit.

Le Petit Dakar
Archives, Paris
27/05/2026: I came over on Eid Al Adha with my mom, we were looking for a senegalese restaurant that offers good authentic Senegalese food, We came and ate the Yassah poulet, because they didnt have the thieboudjeun, anyways the place looks nice, its in the heart of paris in “Le marais” great location, but i somehow knew i would be disappointed the second i walked in, there was no one at 3pm on the day kf eid. Also for some reason it just also hit me that the best African food, is definitely in the African neighborhoods of paris. This was the worst yassah i had in a restaurant in my life. The bissap was good, the service way meh, as we had to ask for every little thing to be brought for us ( like pepper, salt, ice, lemon..)
16/05/2026: A one-way flight to Dakar, right in the heart of the Marais district, where influences intersect and intertwine like fragments of a world in miniature, where every street tells a story from elsewhere.
As you turn the corner on Rue Elzévir, it's a sensory journey where the aromas, colors, and flavors invite you to leave Paris for a moment.
In this historic street with its understated charm, people have been coming since the early 2000s to dine and discover the best of Senegalese cuisine.
The menu is intentionally short but features the great classics, served in generous portions.
On the walls, paintings and works by Senegalese artists converse with a library paying homage to African authors, enhancing the cultural immersion.
I naturally choose my favorite dish, mafé, this rich, creamy stew made with peanuts and tomatoes, prepared with beef and served with rice. However, I could just as easily have opted for the thiéboudienne, a true national icon made with fish and rice, a favorite dish of the owner, Marie-Barthélémy, who has been there for over 10 years.
Alternatively, we readily trust the praise of French actress Léa Seydoux for the flavorful yassa, with its free-range chicken with lemon, onion, and garlic.
Here, chili peppers are served separately, out of consideration for those with delicate palates.
We quenched our thirst with an excellent bissap, a typical sweet drink made from dried hibiscus flowers, before concluding this generous feast with a homemade dessert of the day. For me, it was a cassava and coconut cake drizzled with bissap syrup.
Finally, good news so you don't leave empty-handed: the restaurant has published a book entitled "A Dinner in Dakar," written by its owner, Marie-Barthélémy, which compiles all the recipes featured on the menu.
