19/06/2026: We were promised an authentic Portuguese culinary experience (the food was fine for me), but I'm not sure Portugese cuisine has to include so many condescending remarks about your looks and unnecessary amounts of touching to the face and shoulders while serving you. My child was unnecessarily touched on their face and shoulders repeatedly, having handled food and drink immediately prior to coming to visit our table. This left them feeling uncomfortable and mildly distressed deform the experience. When the bill was presented the same waitress made a remark about how the young man was paying, which maybe didn't translate well from Portugese to French but it came across as rude. Any interaction with this waitress just made our visit to this restaurant worse, which is a shame as the outdoor setting is beautiful and they take great care in the decor. The other waiters and waitresses didn't seem so condescending towards the guests.
The menu itself is very meat heavy and a bit light on vegetables. Order the fish with a soup for a decent experience otherwise they don't season the meat very much. The drinks are at least ok and the whole meal was reasonably priced for Strasbourg. Shame it had to be ruined by the waitress.

17/09/2026: There are restaurants we enjoy, and then there are those that become associated with a memory we cherish for a lifetime.
For us, Au Crocodile is now one of those.
Celebrating our civil partnership in this iconic Strasbourg establishment, founded in 1840, wasn't simply an opportunity to discover a fine restaurant: it was choosing a venue worthy of a moment that meant so much to us. And the experience far exceeded our expectations.
From the very first minutes, everything exuded elegance without ever feeling cold. The setting, the service, the structure and pace of the meal… everything was meticulously planned, yet never overly formal. We truly felt welcomed with a smile and genuine warmth. Sometimes these kinds of establishments can be intimidating for newcomers or young people seeking new experiences, but not here at all; we enjoyed an exceptional and personalized experience.
And then there's the cuisine. Let's get serious!
This is gastronomy that aims to impress, working with ingredients with remarkable precision. The dishes are refined feats, choreographed, generous in both emotion and quantity. Every detail seems to have its purpose.
Special mention goes to the blue lobster, a true highlight of the meal. Its preparation right before our eyes, with the ravioli, the jus, and that finishing touch that transforms the dish into a veritable spectacle at the table, will certainly remain one of the most memorable aspects of our experience. This is exactly what I love about fine dining: when technique fades into the background, giving way to pleasure, and you remember a moment as much as a dish. As one of the restaurant's signature dishes, and rightly so, I am impressed and delighted to have been able to explore the full menu, having chosen the appropriate tasting menu. The wine pairing was sumptuous, but I found the non-alcoholic pairing for my wife a bit repetitive, though thankfully she still enjoyed it very much, and that's ultimately what matters!
What I remember most is the restaurant's ability to transform a dinner into a veritable ballet.
We came to celebrate something important to us. We left with an even more cherished memory.
Thank you to the team at Au Crocodile (or Au Crocodile, I'm not sure which you prefer), for this exceptional experience, for the cuisine, for the service, and for the thoughtful touches that made a young couple so happy.
A grand Strasbourg establishment, a truly great restaurant… and now, a place that holds a very special place in our hearts.
We'll be back, perhaps even at the chef's table.

18/09/2026: Save your time and dont wait in the queue! Okay food, bad service. I must say waiters work hard, almost running while taking/bringing the orders. However, attitude is not pleasant as shared in other comments. No excuses for eye rolling and making noises while serving to customer - although it may be acceptable French behavior. As for the food, flams are good but I am sure you can find similar tastes in other places in the city.

18/08/2026: Unfortunately, I have no opinion on the food or drinks. All I can say is that the service was terrible, rude, and inhospitable. They didn't sell us a beer half an hour before closing time, even though there were still plenty of people at the tables outside. The lady said in a rude voice that she was closing. It's a shame.

24/04/2026: The staff were incredibly welcoming, full of helpful advice and great recommendations. The location is ideal for visiting the center of Strasbourg. The room and bathroom were clean and functional. Thank you again for the stay and the warm welcome.
15/02/2026: The room was quite small and lacked any particular charm, with closet doors that only opened partially. Soundproofing was inadequate: on weekends, noise from nightlife could be disruptive (waking up around 5 a.m.). On the plus side, the bedding was very good quality.
The lack of a physical reception made the experience feel somewhat cold and impersonal: instructions were sent by email and keys had to be collected at the entrance. However, the central location was a real advantage, allowing quick access to amenities. The price-quality ratio was still acceptable.

06/09/2026: I used to come to this kebab shop a few years ago and had rather fond memories of it. Despite the already fairly high prices and the portions not always being very generous, the kebabs were good, the ingredients fresh, and I particularly appreciated the cleanliness of the place and the kitchen.
We decided to go back today as a family for lunch. When we arrived, a member of staff was setting up the tables and chairs on the terrace. We said hello, then sat down at a table barely two meters away.
We naturally assumed that once the setup was complete, someone would come to take our order. But no. The man calmly finished setting up the terrace for several more minutes, then simply went inside without saying a word to us.
We continued to wait. There were four members of staff present at that time, several of whom we could see in the kitchen through the window, and the establishment was far from being busy. Meanwhile, customers were arriving, ordering takeout, and leaving a few minutes later.
I finally decided to go inside to ask if we had to order inside or if someone would be taking orders on the patio. I was told that we had to order inside because they didn't have a menu for taking orders outside.
What I found particularly unfortunate was that the man setting up the patio was right next to the person who gave me this answer. He had seen us arrive, greet each other, sit down, and wait, all while remaining in the immediate vicinity for several minutes. A simple sentence would have sufficed: "To order, you have to come inside." It would have taken five seconds and avoided this whole situation.
So it wasn't the principle of having to order inside that bothered me at all, but simply the lack of attention and communication towards customers who were clearly waiting.
Disappointed and somewhat offended by the reception, we ultimately decided to leave without eating and went to another kebab shop a few minutes away.
It's a shame, because I had a good impression of this establishment. After this experience, I unfortunately don't think I'll be setting foot in it again anytime soon.
06/09/2026: It had been an extremely long time since I'd been back to Manolya in Strasbourg, and unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with my experience.
We were the only customers on the terrace. One of the servers was setting up the chairs, so we naturally assumed someone would come to take our order. However, no one told us we had to go inside to order.
After waiting for almost 15 minutes without anyone coming, we finally decided to ask inside. That's when we were told we did indeed have to order directly at the counter.
I find it really unfortunate that we weren't simply informed upon arrival. A simple "Hello, you need to order inside" would have saved us from waiting unnecessarily.
The service is clearly subpar, and it's all the more disappointing after returning after so much time. It's an experience that unfortunately doesn't make me want to come back.

Plus, it resulted in a printed receipt. A waste of paper for a few pennies!

31/08/2024: Siamo arrivati versò le 19 . Non era affatto affollato. Cameriere un po impacciati ma gentili. Abbiamo ordinato una grigliata mista di carne per 2. Arrivata dopo 1 ora di attesa. Il Cameriere si era scordato. Carne buonina alla griglia. Pulizia del locale da rivedere. Bagni sporchi e degradati. Prezzo nella norma. Si può fare di meglio.

The owner was charming and had very good wine advice. The dishes were hearty and full of flavor.
The room is very nice. The prices are slightly high, but the quality of the dishes explains it.
