31/01/2026: We were extremely disappointed with our experience at the Hippopotamus in Roques last night (January 30th).
The service was catastrophic from beginning to end:
• Appetizers were served after the main courses.
• Our daughter's chicken nuggets arrived 20 minutes after our main courses—great for a family meal…
• A dessert advertised as roasted apples arrived completely raw.
I sent the dessert back, and then… they brought me the exact same thing, with just a quick blast of a blowtorch on the apples to make it look like they were. Of course, they were still just as raw. It was bordering on disrespectful.
The icing on the cake: the manager (who looked like anything but a manager) came over to our table and loudly announced, “Okay, what's wrong?” in front of everyone. His customer service was beyond poor, his tone inappropriate, and he showed absolutely no self-reflection.
It's all the more regrettable because we used to be regulars and the staff was excellent before. But this is a freefall.
We'll never set foot in that place again.
One star because we can't give it zero.

30/01/2026: A friend took me there, and I wasn't disappointed—the ribeye steak melted in my mouth. Just one small complaint: the pepper sauce was watery.
But everything else was perfect.
11/01/2026: A very good experience; we know why we're coming and we're served what we expect. The portions are generous and it's delicious.

03/12/2025: I know the Bistro Régent restaurant chain, and I'm always happy to eat there ☺️.
The perks? Unlimited fries, unlimited salad as long as you order it, very reasonable prices, and good food 👍
The staff was friendly and served us promptly, so that's great 😎
I recommend this restaurant 👍

The servers are welcoming.
However, it's a noisy place.
The daily special is good. And the price-quality ratio is very good.

10/12/2025: A generous Christmas meal for €15.00: a warm, southwestern-style salad with a light and warm vinaigrette; a very tender turkey medallion with baked potatoes; and a delicious Yule log. Highly recommended, very friendly, and the chef's cuisine is excellent. See some of the dishes.
24/11/2025: The price is very reasonable, the dorms are clean, and there's access to a kitchen and common areas.
If you're a woman, you can sleep in a women-only dorm.
The setting is pleasant, and it's about a 20-minute walk from the train station.
The managers were friendly, and I had a great stay 😊

Forgotten fries ask twice before having the famous forgotten fries with sauces.
Server who speaks informally to others who sigh... to flee!!

07/09/2024: We arrived there, there were two of us, the interior is pleasantly decorated. Very warm welcome since there were no people, the waitress told us that we could choose our place👍 we chose as a starter a spicy salad which was fresh and as a main course a grilled steak and the second a mixed grill . A real treat, the plate is very well presented with bulgur, home fries, a quarter of a grilled tomato, half a grilled pepper accompanied by a white sauce and the tender and tasty grilled meat. The entrecôte was not cooked enough for my taste. I am a little complicated with grilling so I asked the waitress if it was possible to grill it a little more, in a short time she brought me one. hot plate and great meat. It's really very, very good. We will come back with great pleasure. THANKS.
29/08/2024: Between €18 a plate with a piece of chicken and €22 a plate with 2 chops, €7.50 a bowl of soup? €3.50 a can! But you are really sick, even restaurants worthy of the name don't dare! The quality isn't there, it's worthy of the local kebab

We were made very welcome, and we were also treated to a complimentary cocktail.
The manager and the waiters are very friendly and always attentive.
Everything was delicious, we were not disappointed.
It’s a nice surprise, a big congratulations to the chef.

10/09/2024: Our favorite restaurant. Excellent foie gras, fresh, homemade fries and very high quality meat. First time for me to try the fish, a little disappointed because too much aioli on the fish, but the dish was still good and very hearty. We are used to this place and recommend it to everyone around us. Always a good time and the service is really friendly. The menu prices are very good value for money. We'll come back again.

10/08/2024: Quel dommage d'avoir un outil de travail comme ça et gâcher la soirée ou service de certains clients, ok ´nous étions une grosse table (10) mais nous voulons passer une bonne soirée , ben bof , à 70 € par tête j'irai ailleurs maintenant, ce n'est pas la première fois, un manque de professionnalisme, service et coordination lamentable.
09/06/2024: Très bons plats, qualitatifs et généreux, et le service est fort sympathique ! Les desserts sont gourmands, mention spéciale à la brioche perdue, à tomber! On reviendra.
