07/12/2025: The only problem was the young woman at the bar wasn't very friendly. Otherwise, the food and service were impeccable, and the petite waitress in the dining room was pleasant and smiling.
I recommend this restaurant 100%.

23/09/2024: The restaurant has a spartan decor and a limited menu. We did find the serving sizes a tad inadequate, also given it's pricing. Am unlikely to visit again.
15/09/2024: Excellente table, tout était parfait : la cuisine, le cadre, les conseils de la patronne pour le vin. Nous avons pris le menu convivial, c’était une explosion de goût et de texture

17/11/2024: We enjoyed our experience at the “Au counter” restaurant. We were very well received, friendly service and with a smile! We opted for the dish of the day (scallops and leeks), and a cheese burger. Two gourmet coffees to finish.
A good value for money lunch!
Little extra: we were accepted with our dog.

04/12/2025: Hello... I had lunch there about two weeks ago with my husband. We waited five minutes for a table. There were other people having coffee, as were two other tables. It's a shame, the lovely veranda should be closed to drinks after a certain time, and the restaurant itself should be kept open to avoid having to turn customers away. Sincerely,
As for the food, I ordered the chef's suggestion, grilled beef. It was good quality and cooked properly (rare these days). It was a shame it was served on a cold plate. The fries, however, need improvement!
01/12/2025: Don’t believe the bad reviews here ! The owners changed very recently and the restaurant is now the best in this price range in Ouistreham. A young couple, with experience. The vegetables are hand cut, the sauces tasty, the fish right from the market. What a pleasure after the previous two owners. Completely renovated. The only thing I don’t understand is why the new owners didn’t change the name, to get rid of the bad reviews on the internet and to show that they are different. On the other hand, the locals have adapted, the place is now full during lunch time… :-)

21/09/2024: Pleasant setting, efficient service. On the other hand, I don't recommend the mint-chocolate ice cream, mint is much too strong and disgusting, I felt like I was eating toothpaste! On the other hand, decent blackcurrant ice cream, good coffee Richard

16/11/2025: We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in Ouistreham, and especially the Hôtel Restaurant Le Phare. The food was generous, the breakfast delicious, and the staff attentive to guests' needs and very welcoming – a real pleasure. The room was perfect, with comfortable bedding. The location is excellent, a lively area, lovely for walking, and directly accessible from a beautiful cycle path for exploring this beautiful region. Thank you to all the staff!

02/12/2024: Je suis toujours circonspect lorsque je lis des avis très désagréables sur un restaurant.
Vraisemblablement des adorateurs du guide Michelin qui aimeraient trouver de la cuisine gastronomique dans un restaurant qui pratique des tarifs de menus abordables à tout un chacun, bien loin des prix délirants de la nouvelle cuisine aux assiettes quasi vides ( mais goûteuses, je l'accorde ).
Donc, nous avons déjeuner attablés dans la salle du Channel, pour nous nourrir.
Et c'est très bien ce qu'a fait ce restaurant avec des plats fort corrects qui étaient bien loin d'être insipides, le tout pour un tarif fort raisonnable pour ce type d'établissement.
Nous avons été très satisfait du Channel de Ouistreham, restaurant que nous n'hésiterons pas à recommander, et cela sans réserve.
02/12/2024: Odeur de vieux à peine rentrée dans le restaurant, suite à un racolage fait par le patron en nous promettans que c'est des produits frais et fait maison. Serveur sympa, mais en contre parti les moules inondé de crème, et camembert pas de gamme, sans goût. Et le fish and chips avec ce petit arrière de goût de je ne sais quoi, vraiment pas terrible ! Déçu d'avoir mangé ici et d avoir dépensé 80e !

12/08/2024: Mauvaise expérience arrive à l’addition, le serveur ne nous avait pas fourni la carte des boissons, nous avons demandé un pichet de rosé pensant que le prix serait correct pour 50cl. Quelle fut ma surprise ! 28€50 hors de prix, le serveur s’est bien caché de nous avertir que c’était le vin le plus cher de la carte !!! Inadmissible, aucun geste à la fin. Sans compter la crème brûlée facturée 7€50 pour une toute petite quantité. Très déçue

02/09/2023: A server for a large terrace. I can't give a review for the kitchen because we couldn't even drink, we waited like the other customers and we were tired of waiting and finally we left. Tempis for the owner's face. I advise no one to go there.

10/11/2024: Après avoir fais plusieurs soins à la thalasso le matin avec ma femme où l’expérience s’est révélée de bonne qualité , sortant à 13 h30 , nous avons décidé d’aller déjeuner au restaurant, ayant vu le menu du jour affiché dans le centre de thalassothérapie, menu d’appel à 26€ :entrée, plat , dessert.
Entrée : assortiment crevettes bulots;ou il y avait 5bulots et 3 crevettes,certes avec une bonne mayonnaise maison,plat principal : suprême de poulet à la Normande , alors la , poulet bien cuit et tagliatelles servie avec la sauce normande ou il y avait 3 lamelles de champignons et 5 petits cubes de pommes le tout fade et pas assaisonné.
Pour finir , je tiens à dire que tout cela manque de générosité et que les champignons de Paris , les pommes et les bulots ,ce n’est pas ce qui coûte le plus cher..
Un menu d’appel à 26€ se doit être au même niveau que le menu supérieur ou à la carte que vous présenter .
Si le menu d’appel n’est pas à la hauteur et à la qualité et générosité qui s’impose , alors aucune envie d’aller tester le menu ou carte supérieure.
Dommage car le cadre avec vue mer est très joli et le service est correct.!
06/09/2024: Personnel accueillant. Nous avons commandé le repas Thalazur. Nous étions déçus de l'entrée. Par contre, le plat principal et le dessert étaient bons. Salle bruyante, il n'y a pas beaucoup d'espace entre les tables.
