16/08/2026: Updated review: the food is good but service is terribly rude. When i tried to pay, i saw the payment successful on the POS machine but he waiter did not take out the receipt and insisted payment failed. he forced me to pay again and kept shouting in french that the card failed, despite the very obvious APPROVED on the screen. Once i got home i checked my bank statement and indeed i had been charged twice for the same amount. Update: I've managed to obtain a refund, after a few weeks and leaving this review. While i am satisfied it's finally resolved, this should not happen in the first place: be charged twice because the waiter doesn't do well their job and nearly shouts at the customer to pay again. Thanks

15/08/2026: I absolutely loved this brasserie! Everything was perfect: the large coffee with cream on the terrace, the freshly squeezed orange juice, and especially the Breakfast Egg Toast, which was simply INCREDIBLE! A real treat! Special mention to our waitress, who was lovely from beginning to end. Despite a full terrace and a large crowd, she managed everything perfectly, always with a smile and genuine kindness. It truly makes all the difference. Thank you to her for this wonderful experience; we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a fantastic time thanks to her warm welcome. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back with my wife! See you soon!

25/11/2025: Hello, upon arrival, the waiter seated us and then left us for over 15 minutes. He returned and said, "Ah, you haven't looked at the menu yet" (which was hidden in a book). Should he have told us?! We asked him a few questions about the very limited menu: four starters, one of which was missing, one main course from the daily special, and two à la carte options. The waiter responded in a very rude tone, seemingly annoyed at having to explain the concept. He brought us a flat, acidic white wine, which he half-spilled on the table, maintaining his haughty and inappropriate attitude. We asked for a replacement glass. Fortunately, the food was good, if not exceptional (the terrine and pork tenderloin were unremarkable, the rich jus a bit too spicy, even though I usually love it), but the cooking was precise, the flavor combinations interesting, and the dessert excellent. But honestly, the service was appalling, unprofessional, and disrespectful. If it hadn't been a Monday, I would have left immediately! Even when it came to paying the bill, my partner, being Italian, could have spent over €50 directly without going into the card reader. The waiter, in a sneering tone, said, "Well, yes, you have to insert it." It's an old-fashioned model... I think if I were a man with a temper, I would have punched him in the face... Shameful... First and last time!

06/09/2026: Stopped by with a group of friends on a city trip. The food and service was good and definitely well above the 3.9 star rating. We especially liked the cozy atmosphere of the outdoor sitting area.

19/07/2026: Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try the food because I was waiting at the counter for some other information (so no food review). The manager or chef, dressed all in black, was leaning on the counter on the customer side (so not behind the counter, nor in the kitchen), so I assumed he was also a customer waiting. After staring at me intently, I smiled at him, and then he told me to "get out of here" because I hadn't said hello to him when I came in (he hadn't said hello either, obviously). This old gentleman is incredibly polite; he really needs a vacation, I think. Response to the establishment's response: Sir, what would be my motive for lying about the reason for my visit, or for lying about actually mistaking you for a customer? Don't be offended; you seem like just an ordinary person, and unfortunately not the amazing chef or manager you think you are. Wearing black doesn't make you stand out any more than a customer. Furthermore, as I maintain, you weren't in your kitchen at all, but rather in the customer area, so my not speaking to you was perfectly justified. When you told me you worked here, I even apologized, explaining that I'd mistaken you for a customer, but you wouldn't listen and kept telling me to "get out." And no thank you, please don't try to teach me your manners, because in addition to not using proper punctuation, you're bitter and acting in bad faith. My "lamentable mind," as you put it, was simply seeking information to help someone homeless who was in dire need for the night.

08/07/2026: We went there, confident given the rave reviews. Huge disappointment. I don't think I've ever eaten such tough meat. In fact, I left half of it, which, considering the price, is a shame. The duck breast was also mediocre: dry and tasteless. A pity.

29/01/2026: I'd like to share my experience at this bar; I came to the Cock and Bull with two friends who were ordering drinks (important for later). Since I couldn't afford it, but still wanted to spend some time with my friends at a bar, I didn't order any drinks there. The beers are €8, which is understandable in the city center, but way out of my budget that evening. So I brought my own beer without thinking to ask permission, and I admit that was a mistake! I'm fully aware of it! However, one of the waitresses' reactions was completely disproportionate. She snatched the drink from me, spoke to me very aggressively, poured the beer on the floor, then crushed the can before leaving with enormous aggression and disrespect. I completely understand that a bar might refuse outside drinks, but there are ways to say it. A simple reminder or a ban on drinking would have been enough. Her attitude made me extremely uncomfortable and shocked other people around me as well. It was a huge scene and ruined the evening, even though everything was going well. It's all the more unfortunate because, apart from this incident, the bar seemed really cool: the atmosphere was good, the other staff members and customers were very friendly, and there was a good selection of drinks and food—no complaints there! The problem clearly wasn't with the establishment as a whole, but solely with this waitress's behavior, which is truly problematic. Thanks :)

07/09/2025: A young, helpful, and dynamic team. Friendly chance encounters with international students are made possible by the warm atmosphere of this establishment. It reminds me of my 20s. Bravo, young people!

11/09/2026: A very pleasant spot under chestnut trees. The appetizer arrived with the main course. Upon our request, the main course was removed and kept warm. It tasted quite good later on. The foie gras appetizer was okay and tasty, but the rock-hard toast was less so. The fish of the day, sea bream, was seared until crispy, which is never good for fish, and consequently dry. The completely mushy, dry "risotto" and canned fried onions only justify a rating slightly higher than the minimum one can give because of the appetizer. I'll say nothing about the staff, who were around 18-20 years old, except that they should perhaps try working outside the restaurant industry or somewhere without a clientele. As a restaurant employee, one should, for example, ensure that a knife and fork are available when serving food and wishing guests bon appétit. As an employee, you shouldn't fidget, you should remain attentive, not make any fools of yourself, not drop your tray, etc. Overall, not recommended; there are much better restaurants in Bordeaux.

27/08/2026: Visited twice with my daughter, including today. The coffee and hot chocolate were very good. The cakes were excellent—organic and homemade. And the staff were very pleasant. For the price, let's be honest: it's not the cheapest option, but you're paying for the quality. We didn't have the chance to try the food, but it looked delicious. I highly recommend it.

30/06/2026: Everything is homemade with quality ingredients, and you can taste the difference. I love going there whenever I'm in Bordeaux to enjoy a scone and tea for breakfast. It's also ideal for an afternoon snack; the pastries are delicious.

02/07/2026: Great service, great atmosphere, however, this is our second visit. The ribeye steak I ordered rare arrived half-pint-red/cooked and hard to cut due to large pieces of fat. The price is a bit high for the quality of the meat. Otherwise, all the other dishes were perfect. I highly recommend it.

02/09/2026: What a shame! As a Bordeaux resident and frequent customer, I'm very disappointed! I bought two 3D keychains on Sunday, and they've been completely broken since Monday. Apparently, these aren't keychains at all; they're just for decoration on a bag... they break at the slightest touch... The staff, who were very helpful, told me they'd issue a voucher, but then said no... I won't be back! And fellow Bordeaux residents, steer clear!
