23/09/2026: I had a pleasant time at this restaurant. The food was good and I enjoyed the experience overall. The only slight drawback was the somewhat limited menu. A bit more variety would be appreciated. Despite this, I recommend the restaurant and would gladly return.
17/09/2026: Passing through Douai, my mother's birthplace, the restaurant was absolutely top-notch, both the welcome and the food. The carbonnade was truly amazing, especially with the fries. The desserts were also fantastic.

Thank you for the meal, which was a hit with all our guests. The team was attentive from beginning to end. I highly recommend them; they are people who love what they do. Thank you again for everything.

They are true artisan butchers and caterers who prioritize fresh products and local expertise. A must-visit in Douai for those seeking excellence.

15/10/2026: The surprise was a friendly place where you can relax with homemade dishes, which is important to me. You feel right at home with very good food, the carbonnade was excellent. I spotted several interesting dishes, and today, in addition to dessert, the dessert of the day was perfect (as pictured). Homemade carbonnade with tender meat and homemade sauce—you can't go wrong! I arrived a bit timidly because I was in my work clothes and didn't dare go in, but I was greeted with a smile. The cook was super friendly, and the waitress was attentive, making sure everything was alright. What kindness! Frankly, I eat out a lot, so quality is important to me, and sometimes I'm disappointed, but not this time. There's no risk of being disappointed. You can go there, 10/10 for the traditional option. I'll definitely be back, and not alone. As for the price, which is the bottom line, a main course, drink, dessert, and two coffees with cream is €28 without the two coffees, €24. It's a good deal. Main courses are €15. Honestly, they're nice, there are cheaper options, like fast food (it's up to you, I've seen it), the decor takes you back to childhood, the old furniture, the 70s cash register, I love it, you feel comfortable.

06/09/2026: The owners are very kind, and so is the waitress. The food was very good (the risotto with vegetables!!!). They have beautiful (and real!) books. The atmosphere was pleasant. Top-notch :)
03/09/2026: We stopped by this afternoon, thinking we knew the good atmosphere of this bar, but we were sorely mistaken. The bartender that day was incredibly unpleasant; no greeting, no "hello," and when we ordered a Coke, he simply pointed at the fridge with disdain. When we asked about the flavors of lemonade, he again, without a word, moved aside to show us the syrups. We tried to sit on the terrace, but the bartender stopped us with a curt "Pay up, guys." Sorry, but that's a level of disrespect towards customers I've never seen before.
We won't be back.

21/07/2026: I went there only once, on July 21st during the funfair. I had mussels, which were okay, but the fries made my gums hurt. Even the people I was with found them too hard and very dry. We didn't like them at all. Maybe they'll try a different oil.

23/06/2026: Hello, I had heard great things about your pastry shop, but now I understand why the young saleswoman didn't show me the pavlova! It was supposed to serve 6 people at 5 euros a slice. It wasn't tall enough, the fruit was minimal, and look at the size (if I may add a photo), it was the size of my hand...it's shameful, barely enough for 4 people, if that.
In response to your message left today, I didn't see the dessert because I was only shown a box tied with string. So, I'm not questioning the price of the cake, but the size! As for the pavlova recipe, the meringue isn't flat but hollowed out, not filled with 1 cm of cream and a few scattered fruits. It's a shame you don't consider the quality and quantity of your pastries. Sincerely.

12/09/2026: The fairground customers should be treated fairly. Displaying a non-existent daily special on the chalkboard is unacceptable!
For example, yesterday, September 10th, the daily special was duck confit, which we couldn't order...
And today, it's either tripe à la mode de Caen or beef bourguignon, same thing.
Yet, neither last night nor tonight did we order late, and looking around, no one else had the daily special.
The daily special is only listed on the chalkboard, and they make us order from the small menu!
Next year, I'll order couscous two or four times, which will be a decent portion on the side...
Not to mention the two scoops of ice cream at €8.50 for dessert...
In short, the dishes at the brasserie are just... well, you know. They were good, but not very generous.
But I repeat, the daily special is only on the chalkboard. Not actually in the kitchen! What a shame.
I'm giving 3 stars for everything else because the staff do their job. Thanks to Lisa last night for making us laugh.
Thanks to the young lady tonight for her welcome and service.
As for the rest, well, I won't be back. Having seen it two nights in a row! And the daily special is nonexistent.
You have to hurry to eat and pay too...
07/09/2026: Douai Trade Fair... We chose Arthur... The Flemish Carbonnade was decent... However, the mussels and fries... marinière... 20 euros for a barely filled pot... The "mussel" broth... no onions, celery, etc... it tasted like dishwater! 70 euros for a beer, a sparkling kir, a carbonnade, and a mussel... 3.50 euros for 50 cl of sparkling water and... pfufff!!! Shameful!!
