13/09/2026: Outrageously expensive drinks: €4 for a simple syrup... €4.50 for a soda, €2.50 for an espresso, €5.50 for a double espresso – truly outrageous!... €10 for ice cream sundaes... the crepes are reasonably priced. This menu makes no sense.
04/09/2026: The experience was rather mixed. The outdoor setting is very charming, and the waitress was pleasant and friendly.
However, we were disappointed by the bread served with the fondue, which was extremely hard, to the point of being difficult to eat. I understand that bread for a Savoyard fondue is intentionally a bit firmer, but this one seemed far too hard.
I simply mentioned this, very calmly, asking if it would be possible to have a different type of bread. I found the waitress's reaction a bit defensive, considering it was simply a minor point about the experience. She eventually brought us freshly cut bread, which was indeed a bit softer and much more enjoyable with the fondue, which we appreciated.
Overall, the rest of the experience was very good, but we felt that the way our feedback was received somewhat marred the occasion. A simpler response to the comment would have really made a difference.

06/09/2026: Pleasant lunch on the terrace. However, the steak haché à cheval (hamburger with a roasted egg) was inedible, as were the fries and the salad – extremely salty! I ate the bread.

16/09/2026: A strange experience.
We arrived as a couple. The tables weren't set. The room was huge, not very welcoming, spread over two half-levels. We were crammed downstairs and six people upstairs.
The otherwise friendly waiter brought us a chalkboard with a set menu for a main course and dessert for 22 euros. There were starters available, but if you ordered the set menu, you couldn't order a starter separately. Too bad for them. The waiter asked us what we wanted to drink, but we didn't have a menu and he didn't tell us what was available. Finally, we ordered two sangrias. Great, they had some. As for the price, well, that was a surprise. The rump steak was good, but not exceptional, and the fries were good. The dessert was fine.
In the end, two coffees and two sangrias came to 14 euros. Not bad. Phew.
So there you have it. We ate well, period.

We waited almost an hour for our appetizers. When we mentioned the wait to the waiter, he responded very rudely. Faced with this behavior, we decided to leave.
That's when the exchange became even more tense: he reminded us that he could be our father, given our age, that he "works," and then repeatedly said, "You're right," in a clearly ironic and condescending tone.
We had simply come to eat, not to be looked down on because we're young.
Avoid at all costs.

16/09/2026: Great atmosphere, smiling staff, both children and adults were delighted, especially the crumble which was delicious, we will be back.
16/09/2026: The food quality was really very poor, and the prices were high. It's a shame, especially since it's one of the only bakeries open out of season. I tried it three times and was disappointed each time. From now on, I'll have lunch in advance in another town before going up to Cauterets.

24/07/2026: Having come for happy hour, we ordered a "giraffe" of beer to simplify things for our dear server. Imagine our surprise when it came time to pay and he charged us the standard price, when we could have paid less by ordering the equivalent in pints at the happy hour price! Despite our complaint about this lack of advice and professionalism, he remained stoic, offering only a "Thanks and cheers, guys!"—a false politeness that served as scant consolation.
I do not recommend this place.

08/03/2026: What a wonderful discovery! The raclette was delicious, accompanied by a generous charcuterie board and potatoes. The warm Camembert was equally good. The staff were very pleasant.

Le personnel est agréable !

22/09/2025: Very friendly welcome, simple but pleasant setting. A true restaurateur who loves his job, and it shows.
Simple but excellent meal, with well-prepared ingredients and beautiful presentation.
Simple but pleasant wine list.
Very reasonable bill.
All in all, a good place for a very pleasant meal, and a real treat.

13/08/2026: Beautiful valley, but the last stretch to the lake and Refuge is quite a steep climb. The valley car park is also always very full, so arriving early is important.
02/08/2026: Splendid surroundings.
No difficulty, however walking shoes are recommended.
