10/03/2026: A delightful surprise! The Mercure Hotel recommended this restaurant to me during a business trip. The Bistrot Basque in Caen is well worth a visit: generous portions, flavorful ingredients, beautifully presented. My fellow diners seemed to be enjoying themselves just as much. The atmosphere is warm and inviting without being noisy. The wine list features several wines from the Southwest (the Madiran lives up to expectations). Special mention goes to the servers, and especially to the young woman who looked after my table—discreet, smiling, and efficient.

08/03/2026: Impeccable welcome and service. The bistro is a pleasant place for a time with friends, as a couple, or with family. The cuisine is distinctive, but not exclusively so—quite generous! Affordable prices

29/11/2025: Bad experience at this crêperie. The galette batter was soggy, as if they were pre-made, and assembled just before serving. The ingredients weren't cooked properly. Even the classic butter and sugar crêpe wasn't good; the batter was rubbery, suggesting that the crêpe itself had also been made in advance.

17/02/2026: Reply to the owner below, following my initial message: I tried the couscous from a vending machine in Bretteville-sur-Odon. I bought enough for two people. Unfortunately for my husband and me, the portion dispensed was one chicken drumstick, a small merguez sausage, and a meatball about 3 cm in diameter. The amount of vegetables was also meager... I wonder what's in the single-person portions: one drumstick??? You shouldn't be very hungry, even though what we ate was good. I'm replying to add to my message: it was mainly the meat that was indivisible: one person ate the drumstick and the other the merguez, and we shared the tiny meatball in two. As I said in my initial message: what do you recommend for one person? One drumstick or one merguez? We met in front of the vending machine, and I mentioned the cutlery because we pass by it while charging our car. I didn't think I'd have to give it only one star, and I trusted it given the size of the containers. But the one containing the vegetables and meat was overflowing with broth, and certainly not meat and vegetables, for €25.90! The amount of semolina was adequate.

17/01/2026: What a wonderful discovery! Coffees from all over the world to explore new flavors. I found my coffee very different, and particularly delicious, especially the Hawaiian coffee. I can't wait to try my other purchases, which all have equally delightful aromas. Thank you! I'm a coffee and tea drinker, enjoying small quantities but high quality. 18/03/2026: A must-visit address in Caen! The villa, elegantly decorated and chic, offers a charming setting. The menu features original dishes, with a fine selection of wines. The atmosphere guarantees a wonderful time.

15/03/2026: Service on March 14th, at 8 PM We were warmly welcomed, but quickly disappointed. Here's what happened: Don't forget your thermal underwear, it's cold! The wait was far too long. Our order was taken at 8:15 PM, and the appetizers were served an hour later. The main courses? Same story: a 40-minute wait for three undercooked meat dishes, and the side dishes arrived 10 minutes later… Want a carafe of water? Tough luck, there weren't any left. As compensation, they offered us a complimentary bottle of Evian. That was acceptable. If you make it to dessert, congratulations! Few of us did, and we decided to leave. We stayed at the table for three hours. When we paid, we expressed our dissatisfaction. The restaurant offered us the equivalent of €65 off our order. We don't blame the waitress; she's on the front line and taking the brunt of it. However, we regret the overall experience. The prices charged should reflect impeccable quality. Finally, dear owner of Villa Eugène, if you're reading this, please act quickly, because based on past reviews, a trend seems to be emerging, and clearly not in your favor!

12/02/2026: We come here from time to time, and our last visit was at the end of January. We're always just as satisfied. Whether it's pizza or galettes, everything is well-prepared and delicious. Pleasant atmosphere. Warm welcome and very dedicated owners. Fair prices. Don't hesitate!

04/02/2026: We've enjoyed wonderful evenings at this restaurant for many years. The quality of the pizzas, savory buckwheat crepes, and especially the dessert crepes is a real treat. The welcome is always warm, and it's a pleasure to chat with the owners. However, during a visit in January, the experience was quite different. The presence of a couple with their child unfortunately disrupted the usually calm and charming atmosphere of this neighborhood pizzeria. The lack of structure around this very restless child made the evening considerably less enjoyable. This won't stop us from happily returning to La Fromentine, which we still love.

16/01/2026: These are truly excellent, authentic Chinese noodles. The portions are generous, and you can get seconds if there's any broth left. Prices have certainly gone up, but restaurants also have to make ends meet in this economy that affects us all. If our grocery bills are rising, so are theirs. If you want a great bowl of noodles in Caen without spending hours at a restaurant, I highly recommend Changshou!

27/03/2026: Honestly, the best kebab I've ever eaten! I recommend it 1000%! Plus, the staff are fantastic and very friendly. It's great!

22/03/2026: The kebab was really good, different with the vegetables and a delicious sauce, it's a nice change from the others and makes you want to come back.

28/11/2025: On vacation at my daughter's, she introduced me to her neighborhood bakery, "Carrément Gourmand," whose pastries I wholeheartedly recommend. My absolute favorite was the "Courchevel"—wow, it was amazing! As we say in the south of France 😉 I won't go into detail, but rather invite you to discover it for yourselves 😋 The only problem for me is that, having never seen it anywhere else, I have to... wait for my next visit to my daughter's to enjoy it again 🥺 P.S.: The custard tart, the Paris-Brest, and the viennoiserie I also tried... were all equally delicious 😋 And a big thank you for the warm welcome and the lovely shop 🥰

23/03/2026: A really pleasant and popular Italian restaurant in Caen close to the harbour area with plenty of parking available. Very nice staff with good service and good value for money. There was a wide selection of mains and desserts to enjoy.
