07/09/2024: Very friendly and smiling welcome in this restaurant where the dishes are delicious: perfectly cooked duck breasts, tasty foie gras with delicious vegetable accompaniments. We do not regret this unplanned lunch stop and we highly recommend it.

22/08/2024: A nice little bike stop. Delicious treats, the same goes for the dishes, good and generous. As for the service, smile and attention were at the meeting.

05/09/2024: A lovely stop on our canal trip. Moored up in Jarnac (and drove 3 min; could have walked 18 min). Welcoming and jolly service. Abundant amuse bouche. Main courses of familiar ingredients but great originality. Deserts outstanding. Interesting and extensive wine list. Amazing range of cognacs. Excellent service and atmosphere. Enjoyed watching the chef through the window up a few stairs. Highly recommend!

04/09/2024: Accueil sympathique. Un peu embêtés car interdiction de manger en salle, du coup obligés de subir les odeurs de cigarette pendant tout le repas en terrasse. Prix corrects (plat du jour à 13€ et autres entre 12-18€). Propose un plat enfant sur demande à 7€. Néanmoins, cela manquait un peu d'assaisonnement, la viande a été servie presque froide. Donc pas mauvais mais peut-être à refaire pour changer d'avis.

05/12/2024: De l'excellente cuisine à Angoulême servi dans un cadre très agréable. Chez Paul est proche du palais de justice d'Angoulême, et le personnel qui y travaille est très professionnel et bien élevé. Tenue impeccable. Distance et humour. La cuisine est exquise, l'œuf parfait dans un velouté de potimarron, le tartare revisité avec sa panière de frites, le suprême de volaille aux pleurotes et sa petite purée, le saumon, etc. Que de belles réussites parfaitement maitrisées. Les vins proposés qui accompagnent cette super cuisine sont parfaitement associés et bien sélectionnés. La pâtisserie française est également très à l'honneur avec sa poire belle Hélène nappée de son chocolat chaud fondu, mais aussi une surprise exotique avec un dessert à la pulpe d'ananas. Le patron (collectionneur de vins et de cognacs) ainsi que son équipe vous accueilleront très bien. Justiciables, vous venez de perdre votre procès et beaucoup d'argent : venez vous consoler chez Paul. Avocats, votre client vient de prendre perpétuité quand vous lui promettiez 6 mois avec sursis : venez vous consoler chez Paul. Magistrats, vos mérites objectifs ne sont pas reconnus par vos collègues ou par le syndicat national de la magistrature : venez les oublier chez Paul fabricant de bonne humeur !

30/11/2024: Rapport qualité prix correct. Produits frais et bien cuisinés. Menu à 39€ : carpaccio de saumon, cabillaud et île flottantes (excellent dessert). Bon accueil, service rapide et efficace. Peut-être un peu cher mais cuisine honorable.

15/09/2024: Quality service. Refined products but lack of cooking for the fish (arrived lukewarm or even cold), meat not cooked as requested. Very good variety of products. Small problem: no possibility of welcoming people with disabilities: toilets not adapted, dining rooms either. Stairs are present everywhere...

30/06/2024: Nous sommes venus aux ombrages hier pour notre mariage. Tout était parfait. L'installation autour d'une table ronde ( nous étions 11) était idéale pour voir et entendre tout le monde. Le service irréprochable. Une cuisine délicieuse, raffinée que chaque convive a fortement appréciée. Nous nous sommes régalés ! Merci beaucoup. Nous reviendrons très vite .

29/12/2024: reduced menu during the holiday period. A menu at €43 with à la carte classics. good service, smiling and friendly. The kitchen is not up to the asking price. For example, a change of 10€ for a starter (salad and hot goat's cheese) as a main course deserved better than warm goat's cheese on industrial sandwich bread. As for the entrecôte, it was not seared, accompanied by a small pot of sauce with a portion of fries (quite good) and three salad leaves, two half cherry tomatoes and a very basic dressing. At 25€ we expect more generous. Efforts must be made to achieve a higher quality more in line with the asking price.

26/08/2024: Well, where to start? Fantastic staff, went out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Nothing was too much trouble. Food, absolutely exceptional - not a crumb left on any plate, very reasonably priced too. We were celebrating my birthday and they allowed us to take cakes and prepared them with candles. Ambience, such a lovely location, really feels like some old friends have invited you round for dinner. Yes, the glasses are all different and the host might get the order a bit mixed up (quickly rectified) but honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in ages. Can’t wait to return!

17/09/2024: L'endroit parfait si vous voulez être mis dehors comme des malpropres par un type exité et surtout frustré de ne pas savoir ni pouvoir gérer sa gargotte. Nous étions une table de 6 et voulions simplement diner. Au bout d'une heure d'attente, personne n'avait daigné prendre notre commande de boissons. Un de nous a lancé : "si personne nous sert, on s'en va". Et là, le "patron" déjà très énervé (un client avait demandé à faire réchauffer son plat) car on l'a vu et entendu frapper violemment son pied dans la porte de la cuisine, nous crie en tapant fort sur son comptoir : "barrez-vous". Voilà voilà... Que rajouter ???!!! Ah si, j'ai été aux toilettes 🤢🤮 et je me dis que ce monsieur nous a finalement rendu service en nous jetant dehors, ils sont immondes !

29/08/2024: Staying nearby we wandered down for a quick drink and what a lovely bunch they are here . The lady spoke very good english which was helpful. The beer was good and the wine was beautiful. Had a couple of items from the dessert menu and they was lovely
