I won't be going back there.
14/04/2026: Our go-to restaurant when traveling to Alès (from Nîmes).
Close to the Sunday market and the Gardon River, in a shady spot, we've always received a warm welcome, friendly and quick service. The food is carefully prepared and plentiful.
The home-style cooking is good, and everything is excellent value for money. A very reputable establishment.

25/03/2026: I went home to have a coffee with my wife, but the owner stayed in his corner; there was nobody there except us. Luckily the TV was on, the atmosphere was really gloomy.

15/03/2026: Hello, a negative review for the person taking reservations. We booked for 1 p.m. and were told, "Sorry, we thought it was for noon," and were turned away. It's a shame because usually everything goes smoothly. They won't see me again.

The daily special on a Friday was really, really good. I was even surprised by it.
Well done. Lovely salad too.

The dessert was also excellent, with very generous portions. I'm delighted to have eaten at Le Barbusse restaurant and I highly recommend it to customers; you won't be disappointed.

17/05/2026: Ordered a Caesar salad which was Caesar in name only, it contained green beans, carrots, cucumbers, very little chicken and just enough, so I don't think I'll be going back and I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.
16/05/2026: Unfortunately, I didn't check the reviews beforehand. Horrible! The waiter was incredibly rude, the pizza was frozen, the ribeye was undercooked, and the pasta with Roquefort cheese (more cream than Roquefort) was awful. The waiter rushed us to eat (I didn't understand why). The waiters were smoking while serving us, which was great for germs and all that nonsense.
I hope you don't go there for yourself and your smell.

10/11/2023: Perfect for lunch.
Starter and dish of the day are sought after, homemade.... and they were kind enough to keep the dish for me, from the daily menu, by warning them.
A terrace is surely pleasant on sunny days.
In short, don't hesitate any longer... regulars know it!

11/11/2024: This Saturday, November 9, we went to eat at the Fleurs café/brasserie in front of the station. I only have one word: big disappointment! We ordered John Dory and sea bream. When the Saint Pierre arrived, we noticed that it was undercooked almost raw. As for the sea bream, that's not what we were served. The fillet was red/pink in color and not white like the sea bream! We took the liberty of telling the waitress when we paid. She went to the kitchen to report it and no one came to explain this error to us. They even denied it and passed the message through the waitress.
What courage! Restaurant to avoid!

09/08/2024: Si vous décidez de manger sur Alès, allez directement au restaurant Les cocottes de l'abbaye. Cuisine maison excellente de l'entrée au dessert, prix avec formule entrée, plat, dessert à 18,90 euros et des patrons très chaleureux. Félicitations à la cuisinière pour ses mets. Nous recommandons+++
31/07/2024: Accueil très sympa, bonne cuisine ! Le magret était cuit à la perfection et les 3 accompagnements étaient délicieux. Je recommande !
