The recommended pear cider is excellent.
As for the crêpes, the Toulouse galette and the complete galette are superb.
Passing through Alès, we were delighted with our meal.

22/03/2026: Avoid this bar at all costs. The clientele is appalling. I hadn't even finished parking before my wife was accosted by three men saying things like, "Hey, ma'am, you're hot, come here, I'm telling you, answer me!" Then one of them got up and went straight for her, putting his hand on her... How disgusting. If you want to sit down and have a quiet drink, this isn't the place to go. I'm grateful to the waiter who had the presence of mind to intervene before I even arrived. Thank you, sir!
19/03/2026: For a brasserie, the menu wasn't bad, the staff were very friendly, and throughout the meal, only French songs were played – which is quite rare and worth mentioning. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

However, the duck breast à la carte was a huge disappointment. Five tiny, ultra-thin slices, like ham, is ridiculous (it's about 1/5 of a duck breast). I've never seen anything like it!
Two of us ordered it, and neither of us received a better portion... It's a rip-off! ☹️

Starter and dish of the day are sought after, homemade.... and they were kind enough to keep the dish for me, from the daily menu, by warning them.
A terrace is surely pleasant on sunny days.
In short, don't hesitate any longer... regulars know it!

11/11/2024: This Saturday, November 9, we went to eat at the Fleurs café/brasserie in front of the station. I only have one word: big disappointment! We ordered John Dory and sea bream. When the Saint Pierre arrived, we noticed that it was undercooked almost raw. As for the sea bream, that's not what we were served. The fillet was red/pink in color and not white like the sea bream! We took the liberty of telling the waitress when we paid. She went to the kitchen to report it and no one came to explain this error to us. They even denied it and passed the message through the waitress.
What courage! Restaurant to avoid!

09/08/2024: Si vous décidez de manger sur Alès, allez directement au restaurant Les cocottes de l'abbaye. Cuisine maison excellente de l'entrée au dessert, prix avec formule entrée, plat, dessert à 18,90 euros et des patrons très chaleureux. Félicitations à la cuisinière pour ses mets. Nous recommandons+++
31/07/2024: Accueil très sympa, bonne cuisine ! Le magret était cuit à la perfection et les 3 accompagnements étaient délicieux. Je recommande !
