17/09/2026: We couldn't eat there because we didn't get the table we had reserved (which would have also had room for our dog). The unreasonable waiter would have seated us at a table for two right next to the walkway. The restaurant was at most half full at the time, and even two hours later there weren't any more people! Unbelievable!

29/08/2026: The welcome from the owner is warm and pleasant. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience doesn't quite live up to the same standard.
The service is clearly lacking in fluidity and professionalism for an establishment that positions itself as fine dining: dishes arrive while drinks still need to be requested, sometimes without even having glasses on the table. Taken individually, these are minor details, but at this price point and level of prestige, their accumulation ultimately detracts from the experience.
On the plate, the presentation is meticulous and visually appealing. The food is good, sometimes even very good, but it lacks the surprise, the boldness, or the emotional impact one expects from a restaurant of this caliber. You leave satisfied, but without a true "wow" factor.
The setting, on the other hand, is a real success: beautiful decor, a pleasant dining room, and ample space between tables to comfortably enjoy the meal.
Ultimately, this is an establishment with considerable merit and potential, but the price-to-performance ratio seems difficult to justify at this point. At this price point, one expects much more refined service and cuisine with greater personality and flair.
02/08/2026: We came without a reservation on a Saturday lunchtime and we're very lucky to get a table. The food was exceptional - easily the best salmon I have ever eaten. Service was seamless and elegant. I would thoroughly recommend for a reasonably priced fine dining experience without any compromise on flavour or atmospehere!

08/09/2026: Honestly, even with the wait, we had such a lovely experience. The service was really impeccable and everyone was so nice and welcoming.
I also tried the Kim Kardashian burger, the Ferdi Burger, and honestly… so good!! Definitely one of the highlights for me.
And special shoutout to Peter because omg one of the hardest-working people I’ve ever seen. He was literally everywhere, making sure everything was going well and taking care of everyone. You can really tell he puts so much effort into what he does.
Overall, such a nice experience and definitely worth the visit

We had a very good dinner at the restaurant in a splendid setting.
24/05/2026: We walked past without having made a reservation, but luckily managed to get the last table. A very warm welcome in a beautiful setting; we enjoyed eating outside in the courtyard. We found the price-quality ratio to be highly recommended. We also had to choose our dessert immediately, but didn't find this a problem at all. We will definitely be back.

05/06/2026: Decided on a change of venue for my overnight stay on the way down France and found this and was well worth the effort of searching!
Will start with the food, I had the room and menu option which was unbelievable value! £132.00 for the room, 3 course dinner (with a supplement on the starter), glass of champagne and 2 glasses of very good wine and then breakfast in the morning!
The food is excellent, well cooked, well presented and as delicious as I hoped it would be. The other menu option is a reasonable €40 had an impressive selection of options too.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the chef came to chat to the customers at the end of the evening.
The room was simple, but everything you need (the fan was a bit noisy but OK, there are only sachets of shower gel/shampoo so remember your own toiletries) but very clean with lovely wooden floors and a comfortable bed.
Check in if the restaurant is not open is easy and hassle free. I managed to park directly opposite FOC and there is ample parking round the corner also FOC.
All in all a hearty recommendation and is a short walk from the centre of Chalon if you would like a post dinner stroll (and is definitely worth the stroll from the centre of town, so reserve a table now!)
14/04/2026: Excellent welcome, generous and well-prepared home-style cooking, and a varied and high-quality wine list. It's hard to find establishments like this anymore, with a truly family-run, unpretentious atmosphere and honest cuisine.
