26/09/2026: A truly wonderful discovery! This restaurant boasts magnificent cuisine, truly exceptional, worthy of a gourmet establishment. The service is top-notch, and the staff are incredibly pleasant and kind. We even brought our dog, who was very welcome. I recommend it 1000 percent! We're from Belgium, and we'll definitely be back when we're next in Calais. You can go there without hesitation.

19/09/2026: A great experience at Le Grand Bleu. My father thoroughly enjoyed his Toques d'Opale menu. Excellent from start to finish, which I highly recommend over the Plaisir menu I chose; it's a bit more traditional, but I still ate very well. Pleasant setting. Friendly staff.

24/09/2026: Excellent restaurant! We called the restaurant at 9 pm for a dozen people, and the owner said it was no problem, unlike other restaurants on the street that refused to accommodate us because of the late hour. We were pleasantly surprised by the presentation and flavor of the dishes; they were delicious. Upon arrival, the owner offered us complimentary appetizers: gazpacho and cod fritters. I highly recommend this restaurant; you'll be very impressed. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.

30/09/2026: On my last night in France, I had a seafood platter with delicious lobster and very fresh pink sweet shrimp. The seafood didn't need any dipping sauce; its natural flavor was delicious enough. The service was also excellent; even those who didn't speak French could communicate in English.

28/09/2026: We thoroughly enjoyed our meal; the lamb was incredibly tender, just the way I like it. The staff was excellent. I would have appreciated some more relaxing music while we ate. We'll be back.

19/10/2026: Calais has a wide choice of restaurants, at all price points. This was our third visit to Histoire Ancienne. It is a smart, traditional French restaurant. Study the menus carefully - there are some real bargains to be had on the fixed price options. They serve draught beer - always better value, and not always available in France. The service is attentive, the food is very good - and a pride is taken in the presentation of each plate.

15/10/2026: I'm giving it 5 stars because I can't give more! Where do I even begin when everything is excellent… We came for my grandmother's birthday, arriving early and still receiving a warm welcome. The place is cozy and comfortable. It's full of historical details and memorabilia that will pique the interest of history buffs. The atmosphere was more than pleasant. Our two servers were attentive, funny, and above all, professional. We even received a greeting from the chef and a souvenir photo. I can't talk about the chef without mentioning his absolutely delicious cuisine. We feasted, from the amuse-bouche to the desserts; everything was perfect. Each dish was a true delight, with perfectly balanced flavors that tantalized our taste buds from beginning to end. Generous, refined, and flavorful cuisine that alone justifies our visit. Whether it's the exceptional quality of the cuisine, the warm welcome, the professionalism of the team, or the charming and historic setting, everything comes together for a truly memorable experience. We left with smiles on our faces, our heads full of new family memories, and our stomachs full! A must-visit restaurant that we will return to with immense pleasure. I wholeheartedly recommend this place! A huge thank you again to the entire team for this wonderful experience! P.S.: We opted for the Big Gourmet menu at €40 (starter, main course, and dessert), but there are also less expensive set menus and à la carte options. The set menu remains the best value for money and choice :)

17/10/2026: Excellent savory crepes, I highly recommend them, you won't be disappointed even if they look different. As for the dessert, it wasn't anything exceptional, but it was made with good ingredients, so I commend them!

19/09/2026: Unfortunately, it was impossible to try your food on a Saturday at lunchtime, even though only three tables were occupied. You wouldn't allow us in with our "big" dog, a Swiss Shepherd who doesn't bark and lies down under the table. We went to Brasserie de la Mer instead, where we were very well received with our dog.

07/09/2026: Far from the establishments around the Place d'Armes in Calais, this small restaurant near the theater is a sure bet and won't disappoint. The warm welcome, the cozy atmosphere, the dishes that emphasize homemade quality, the efficient service, the generous portions... it's hard to find a fault with this excellent place. Please note that while the restaurant is open every lunchtime, it is only open for dinner on Saturdays. Reservations are therefore recommended.

15/10/2026: Completely renovated. A fantastic casino with lots of evening entertainment, a very good restaurant, and machines that pay out big! 👌🙏

11/10/2026: Lost wallet, very kind security guard who searched the entire casino from top to bottom to find it. We then asked the manager to check the security cameras... very cold, zero empathy towards a young woman who had lost her wallet, and told us to call next week and that they could only check the security cameras starting Monday 🤡 Supposedly he had too much to do... Customer Service Needs IMPROVEMENT...

29/08/2026: The welcome, cleanliness, and setting were excellent! A breathtaking view. Relaxation and serenity. This place is magical, and I've never eaten such good oysters as here. Even in Cancale, they have nothing on you! 😂 However, and this is for the owner: your "Penne rigate with tomato, olive, and chorizo ​​for 24 euros" is an absolute rip-off! (The sauce was bland, thin, and completely tasteless.) I swear, I could make better in 10 minutes flat, stopwatch in hand, with a store-bought sauce from Aldi! It's a real shame. So go ahead, but whatever you do, don't order that plate of pasta, which must cost them €1.50 at cost.

23/08/2026: Lovely welcome, good food, beautiful view. It's a shame the gentleman in the pink shirt took our money when we gave him our gift voucher. We were rushed through it!

14/09/2026: Unfortunately, a lot went wrong: wrong dish, was eventually exchanged for the correct one... then they forgot the cutlery... only got a knife... had to ask for the fork... forgot to bring the drink and small portions. The food itself was nothing special either, unfortunately. I had expected more from this restaurant, which looks chic with matching prices.

11/09/2026: Even though there was a minor mishap right at the beginning, I won't dwell on it, because apart from that, absolutely EVERYTHING was fantastic. The appetizer (peeled Calais lobster) was probably the best we've ever eaten (and we enjoy fine dining). The dessert selection was also exceptional. We had a wonderful window seat overlooking the sunset, and at the end, the chef himself came by to check if everything was alright. All the staff were very friendly, and the value for money was outstanding!
