La Fourchette de Léonie

23/05/2026: We ate on the terrace. The food was made with fresh ingredients. Very good value for money.
28/02/2026: A truly wonderful culinary experience. A small restaurant combining excellent food and impeccable service. A warm and intimate atmosphere. Very good value for money. An address to remember. I highly recommend it.

Le Saint Placide
Saint-Malo
21/08/2026: Spider, monkfish/lobster... then chocolate.
So good!
19/08/2026: A wonderful discovery. We opted for the "Choosing means foregoing the rest" menu. It was a truly fascinating culinary journey. The chef is dedicated to immersing us in his world without altering the essence of the main ingredients. A warm welcome, an excellent sommelier, a refined setting, and a relaxed atmosphere. A truly delightful experience!

Au P'tit
Saint-Malo
12/08/2026: I'll add a review too, we were here a week ago as the first restaurant during our vacation. I can compare with other establishments both in the city and elsewhere, so I'll give a review later. The portion of mussels was adequate, there were a few nice mussels on top, but the rest were extremely small and about a third (really) were empty shells. The service was nice and attentive, but we had to ask for bread and they didn't automatically give us a bottle of water in a carafe, as is customary here, but offered us water for a fee. As we found out, good restaurants have special bowls for cider, here we got an ordinary glass. It wasn't a happy start to our vacation.
08/08/2026: We wanted mussels and fries, and they were excellent. Our daughter had a burger, which was also very good. For five people, with drinks and two desserts, it came to less than €100, which I think is very reasonable.

Creperie Le Gallo
Saint-Malo
29/08/2026: A wide selection of galettes and crêpes, all delicious, the service is quick and friendly, I recommend it
24/08/2026: A fantastic find in Saint-Malo's walled city!
We discovered this crêperie during our visit to Saint-Malo's walled city, and it was a delightful surprise.
What immediately struck us was the impressive breadth of the menu. From classic buckwheat galettes to numerous specialties and a wide selection of sweet crêpes, the options are truly plentiful. We had consulted several establishments before making our choice and found nowhere else such a diverse range of choices. It's hard not to find something you love!
The setting is just as charming, with a warm and typically Breton atmosphere: wood, stone walls, exposed beams, and pretty tiled tables give the dining room a lot of character.
Another great feature is the open kitchen, which allows you to see the food being prepared and the staff at work. We always appreciate this type of layout, which fosters a sense of conviviality and transparency.
On the plate, the quality is undeniable: beautiful buckwheat galettes generously filled, accompanied by a particularly fresh and crisp salad. A detail that speaks volumes about the care taken with the ingredients.
And to finish in style, indulge in a crêpe generously drizzled with homemade salted caramel. Simple, delicious, and undeniably Breton! 😋
Finally, we must highlight the quality of the service and the very friendly interactions with the staff. A natural and welcoming atmosphere that fully contributes to the enjoyment of the experience.
Between the exceptional variety of the menu, the freshness of the ingredients, the authentic setting, the open kitchen, and the friendliness of the staff, we had a wonderful time.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A crêperie we wholeheartedly recommend when visiting Saint-Malo's walled city!

La Cale
Saint-Malo
25/10/2025: A great seafood restaurant right on the harbor with a lovely atmosphere. We visited twice for dinner and were very satisfied. A friendly welcome and a great menu. The second time, the service was a bit slow and not as warm and welcoming.
12/10/2025: Very good restaurant but it took us over an hour to be served, a bit disappointing

Le Lion D'or, France
Saint-Malo
09/09/2026: The meat was undercooked twice. The mussels were tiny and tasteless. The service was particularly sloppy on several occasions. The quality of this establishment has declined in recent years. It's a real shame!
09/09/2026: We were lucky and got the last free table (outside) without a reservation.
The service was very good and fast.
The food, consisting of burgers and mussels, was delicious, and the portion size and price were perfectly reasonable.
Drinks were rather expensive.

Le Penjab
Saint-Malo
06/08/2026: We walked in. Shown to a table. We tried to order drinks but was shown the "hand", to wait. Well, we waited. And waited some more. Zero engagement. After 11 mins, we walked out. We walked down the road to the other Indian which did not smell as good but more than adequate.
02/08/2026: The price was a bit "touristy" and not necessarily justified.
Overall, I was a little disappointed. It's not a rip-off or a disaster, of course, but still disappointing.

Grand Mere Augustine
Saint-Malo
17/09/2026: A restaurant at the foot of the ramparts where we enjoyed Breton specialties!
We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who made this Breton evening as pleasant as possible! No hard feelings about the onions ;)
16/09/2026: Beware! The Chef's XXL Burger only has buckwheat seeds as decoration, even though the menu states buckwheat bread.
A bit of a rip-off.
When we pointed this out to the waitress, she aggressively replied that there was buckwheat in it, even though there were more poppy seeds on the bread than buckwheat.
The bread is just plain white.

La Licorne
Saint-Malo
26/08/2026: A truly warm, quick, and excellent welcome. I highly recommend this establishment.
26/08/2026: Disappointing… The waiter rushed us to take our order (he came back to us three times even though we weren't ready to order). Once we'd taken it, he came back 20 minutes later to ask, "Are we starting your main courses?" Since we hadn't ordered any appetizers, we didn't understand why he was asking, or why our main courses hadn't been started in the kitchen as soon as we'd placed our order. As a result, it took over half an hour for our order to arrive at our table. The galette and crêpes were very mediocre, and the price was disproportionate to the quality.

La Brasserie Armoricaine

23/06/2026: Allowed us to book the restaurant twice and was closed both times - ridiculous
17/05/2026: We booked a room for 3 people, and everything was great. It's a shame the hotel doesn't have parking. Otherwise, everything was excellent: the room, the restaurant, and the very attentive staff. Thank you.

Les Abers
Saint-Malo
09/06/2026: Lovely place and staff. Very authentic building and people.
07/06/2026: Highly recommended!! The perfect hotel for a visit to St. Malo. Family-run (mother, daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter), incredibly warm welcome. English is no problem. Fantastic tips for our two-day stay, including restaurant recommendations for the nearby "Fidelis" and "Bouche en Folie" (personal reviews, both excellent!). Located within the city walls in a relatively quiet side street near a gate. You can park your car across the street at the gate and it's best to leave it there (€13/24h in the off-season).
You're right in the heart of St. Malo, the cathedral is just around the corner.
Narrow stairs to the fourth floor. There's an elevator, although it wasn't working at the beginning of June 2026. Small suitcases are an advantage.... :-) The rooms are compact but spotless, very clean, and well-maintained. Everything you need is there. Good beds! Even flowers on the windowsill! Ours was on the third floor. The noise from the seagulls was so bad that we had to close the windows at the beginning of June.
The highlight is breakfast, which is offered for an extra €15. Very reasonable!
On the ground floor, you sit in a rustic setting surrounded by natural stone walls at lovely country-style tables. There's a lot of decoration, almost too much. The owners like it, and that's perfectly fine.
Each guest receives their own small pair of tongs to take the pre-cut food. There are no knives provided. You don't cut anything yourself! Only the hosts cut bread, cakes, and other items: precisely what will actually be eaten. There's always something available. Wonderfully sustainable. Nothing is left over, nothing is thrown away! Very hygienic because no one touches the food.
Fantastic bread, toast, various cakes (the apple cake is amazing!!!), juice, jam, and also delicious cheese and salami, attractively pre-sliced.
Espresso, fresh orange juice, or egg dishes are available for a small additional charge.
The ideal little boutique hotel. A place to feel at home!
