09/06/2026: ⭐⭐ 2/5 — Beautiful historic setting, but 100% outsourced catalog. The shop located under the arcades of Rue Royale is aesthetically remarkable, and the service is perfectly adequate. However, an analysis of the products reveals a blatant lack of local authenticity. Although the brand claims to be the "oldest chocolate shop in Orléans since 1760," it no longer makes its own products. The online catalog and the specialties offered in-store (notably the chocolate crottins and camemberts) are perfect clones, down to the last cent, of the product descriptions of Maison Mercier, based in the Cher region. The descriptions and prices are exactly the same. 😱 The chocolates are objectively of good quality, but if your goal is to consume or give authentic, handcrafted chocolate, made in the pure Orléans tradition and crafted locally, it is better to turn to the city's independent artisans.
Update following the owner's official response: Rating maintained (2/5). So be it: this is not "subcontracting" in the strict sense, but rather integration by Maison Mercier, which crafts its products in its own workshops in Baugy, in the Cher department (18). In terms of customer experience and transparency, the fundamental problem remains unchanged. The major historical claim displayed in the window—"Oldest chocolate shop in Orléans since 1760"—serves as a marketing facade. The Orléans identity is disconnected from the reality of production: 100% of the catalog, price lists, and product descriptions are exact replicas of a brand from another department. Similar to the labeling irregularities observed in other local food sectors (such as honey), the deliberate maintenance of this geographical ambiguity in the shop—without explicit display of the origin at the time of purchase—biases consumer consent. The craftsmanship remains artisanal and of high quality, but the added value is no longer local to Orléans. For chocolate truly made on-site by independent local artisans, my initial advice remains the same.

04/06/2026: I'm a regular customer at this bakery and I came again this morning 😊 Honestly, it's always a pleasure to go there! The products are excellent, fresh, and delicious, but what really makes the difference is the service. The saleswoman is incredibly friendly, always smiling and pleasant with customers. You can tell she loves her job, and it makes you want to come back. I highly recommend this place 👌

Prices are skyrocketing, but portion sizes are shrinking! Salads are only half full.
The staff is unpleasant; no hello, no thank you, and certainly no smile! They give their manager inappropriate looks when her back is turned. They give change in 1 cent because you return the cashier's rudeness. And she doesn't even say hello!
Cakes are served carelessly, so when I get home, they're completely broken and flattened.
Nothing is right at Paul!

31/05/2026: As a regular customer, I am writing to you regarding a recent incident at the organic produce counter. The extent and seriousness of the incident were witnessed by all the staff present that day, yet you have not taken any action. I am remaining anonymous for this letter, but I must emphasize that the situation is outrageous.
I had placed a large order of zucchini, initially scheduled for pickup on Wednesday. Due to a public holiday on Thursday and my inability to travel, I tried to contact the store several times before my scheduled pickup on Friday. Unfortunately, my calls went unanswered. Upon arrival, the sales assistant informed me that my order had been put on hold without any prior notification, despite my being a regular customer.
Furthermore, a cashier error was discovered during the payment process: I was owed approximately seven euros. When I called the store to resolve the situation, I was greeted by a visibly disgruntled employee. He inappropriately implied that I should give up on receiving the money. Worse, this same person informed me that the store would no longer be taking orders from me.
So I went to the store to collect what was owed to me. That's where the situation escalated: the employee I had spoken to on the phone confronted me aggressively in front of a line of about ten customers. Although I apologized for the misunderstanding regarding the zucchini order, this person never once apologized for their tone or public behavior.
It's clear that this person has a history of speaking rudely to customers and that management remains silent in the face of these actions. This type of interaction is unacceptable, especially since your stated values emphasize customer care and adherence to the Customer Behavior Standard (CBS). Treating a loyal customer in this manner, with such blatant unprofessionalism and a complete lack of attentiveness, falls far short of the standards I expect from a business of your reputation.
Therefore, I would like to remind you that, in accordance with the Civil Code and the Consumer Code, a sale is a contract binding both parties. The unilateral sale of my order without prior notification, the refusal to rectify an acknowledged cash register error, and the aggressive behavior of your staff constitute a breach of your contractual and ethical obligations. As a loyal customer, I expect your establishment to honor the commitments it has made to me.
27/05/2026: Prices are often outrageous on certain items, especially in the fruit and vegetable section where the produce is often past its prime (for example, €25 per kilo of beans when they're in season... And I won't even mention the strawberries or raspberries that cost money in bitcoin!). Furthermore, the staff isn't very pleasant or friendly, there are sometimes crazy queues at the checkout, only one of the two is open, while the other employees are busy doing who-knows-what.

27/10/2025: Honestly, it's a no-go. I went there and skipped the fish; it wasn't fresh at all, and the damn banana wasn't what it used to be.
I feel like it was rushed and tasteless. The meat itself is too spicy. I find the dining room not welcoming at all; when you walked in, you could see them drinking. The two cooks were with men. Honestly, I should avoid it. I also contacted the Consumer Affairs department.
07/10/2025: ⚠️ What a disappointment!
We had dinner for two: a choukouya dish, a capitaine fish, and a 75cl bottle of wine to share.
From the moment we arrived, there was no welcome, no greeting, no seating. The cook was sitting at a customer's table, beer and glass in hand… The atmosphere already set the tone.
The first course arrived too quickly to be fresh, clearly suggesting it had been microwaved. Five minutes later, the second course arrived: a completely dry and inedible fish.
When we mentioned this, the cook calmly explained that they were following the policy of serving unsold items from the previous day, or even earlier. As a result, we both got sick.
We will be filing a complaint with the DGCCRF (French Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control), as this is unacceptable.
No gesture of goodwill, no apology.
And to top it all off, we were simply told:
"Next time, ask for fresh fish when you arrive."
No comment… An experience to absolutely avoid.

18/05/2026: The young woman who seems to run the bar and tobacco shop is incredibly unpleasant. Humanity seems to have vanished from this place… curt, cold replies, not a smile. You get the feeling you're bothering her more with every word… I try to make an effort nonetheless. She tries to charge me more for a drink. There's nothing else to do but warn future customers this way.

20/05/2026: We went to the Piraat bar in Orléans, a party of eight. We had to pay for the entire order before it was all on the table. The Sangria was served with plastic cups, the bottle of white wine with small glasses, and the charcuterie and cheese board was served on a plate without forks. In short, it was unacceptable and we were completely disappointed.
15/05/2026: The service was completely unacceptable.
The same platter was ordered twice, and the quantity was halved 😒.
The servers clearly don't care about the customers.

19/04/2026: Imagine my surprise when I found a hair in my sandwich! That's unacceptable. Furthermore, the staff is rather unpleasant, especially the woman who seems unfriendly. I do not recommend it.
