05/03/2026: Passing through Cholet, we were looking for a nice place for lunch and after a bit of searching, we stumbled upon La Tarterie de l'Orangerie near the town center. It's a lovely spot where we had a great meal and enjoyed the menu. We opted for a €15-16 set menu with a starter, a savory main course, and a dessert, as well as a savory waffle dish for €15, a sugar waffle and a cappuccino for €6.50, and a kombucha for €4, all for around €40, which is good value for money as everything was tasty and quite generous. The butternut, chestnut, and mushroom tart was delicious and served piping hot. The Paul savory waffle with salmon was very good, but I would have liked more avocado and grapefruit toppings as they were barely noticeable, being just tiny pieces. It's a shame about that, but it's the only minor drawback, and one that the chef could easily improve. The dishes were served with a dressed green salad, and the desserts were good (waffle and French toast with salted caramel). Perhaps a little more whipped cream would have been nice to garnish the dessert plates, which seemed a bit plain, as were the drinks, which were very good. The service took a little while to get going with the two waiters, but after that, the wait for the food wasn't long at all. And both waiters were pleasant, smiling, and friendly. The restaurant is very attractive, beautifully decorated, and has a comfortable atmosphere. It's also impeccably clean, both the dining room and the restrooms. A lovely place to recommend in downtown Cholet, where this type of restaurant doesn't seem to be very common. Well done! Keep up the good work!

28/03/2026: We had lunch at this restaurant on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. It was a gift from my parents: two "Culinary Expression" menus and a drinks package for €30 per person. Everything was perfect (the welcome, the delicious, beautifully presented, and generous portions—I highly recommend it) until...the bill! Indeed, we had already paid for everything. We knew the only extras would be the two cheese plates (€6 per person), and any additional charges beyond the drinks package. I should mention that we were given a drinks menu without prices, so it was difficult to know if our order was included. At the register, the person who served us (the same one who made our cocktails) initially asked for €59! She was charging us for one of the two drinks packages we were supposed to receive. We asked her to change it. Then she asked for €29, which still seemed like a lot, but we paid. We checked the receipts on our way out, and there was another €9 overcharge. After going over the bill with her again, it turned out we hadn't included the half-bottle of water in the bill. I pointed out that €9 for half a bottle seemed expensive; she replied that that was the price. We felt ripped off again, and we... This is a rip-off! After checking the menu, the price of a half bottle is €5 and a large bottle is €8. So where did the extra €9 come from? This woman must have charged us €4 in "tips." Hence only one star for service (which actually corresponds to the billing, as the service in the dining room was excellent). In conclusion, check your bills, especially if it was a gift card purchase!

13/03/2026: We chose this restaurant during a trip to Cholet. We followed the rather positive reviews… what a mistake! The shrimp weren't fresh, the fish was defrosted, and the side dish was disappointing (a warmed-up romaine lettuce :/ retail price 0.99 cents) for a main course costing 39 euros. When you're used to eating fresh, good fish from the fish market for less, you're quickly disappointed. Furthermore, the restaurant is very small with no ventilation, so there's condensation everywhere on the windows, resulting in humidity… Looking at the ceiling, you won't be mistaken: it's moldy and the wallpaper is peeling off. The curtains are all stained… in short, more than disappointing! I will, however, give one positive point to the waitress who was pleasant. Avoid at all costs!

02/04/2026: A pizzeria I go to regularly, and it's always a pleasure. Thank you, François, for your warm welcome and friendliness. The pizzas are delicious, generously topped, and the other dishes are always excellent. A simple, efficient, and high-quality place where you feel right at home. I highly recommend it! 👍

26/03/2026: While in town on a business trip, I stopped for dinner after reading the good reviews online. And I wasn't disappointed! The welcome was very warm, and since I was dining alone, the manager struck up a conversation, which I really appreciated. Everything was excellent, fresh ingredients, and the wood-fired cooking gave it that extra touch :) If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be back!

24/02/2026: The decor was lovely and the welcome was warm. I had the €39 set menu (starter, main course, and dessert), which was excellent. It was accompanied by a nice glass of wine. The price was well worth the meal. I'll definitely come back when I return to Cholet.

22/02/2026: The service was incredibly slow... 2 hours for an appetizer platter and a main course. Speaking of that main course... 28 euros for a fish dish with mushrooms that were neither listed on the menu nor mentioned verbally. The plate was cold (a shame, as it's important to keep the fish warm), and the mashed potatoes were cold. Yet we waited almost 45 minutes for this dish, with a glass of white wine arriving at the beginning of our wait. This is our second visit, and we've had a second enormous wait and been disappointed. So, this will be our last time here.

18/02/2026: Excellent restaurant, I highly recommend it: 5 stars well deserved. My first stop near Cholet and frankly, I wasn't disappointed. Warm welcome, large parking lot suitable for truckers, top-notch service. The only minor detail is that the showers are slightly narrow, but it's really insignificant compared to the overall quality.

05/02/2026: Excellent value for money, it's incredible! The set menu is €14.50 with an all-you-can-eat starter buffet! The buffet is excellent, with new options regularly added. The owners of this restaurant are very welcoming and friendly. Special mention for the service, which is always top-notch, with a smile and energy. If I had to recommend one dish: go for the fish with beurre blanc sauce, it's excellent! My only small piece of advice: I prefer the pasta bolognese. Everything is great, go for it!

27/02/2026: A very disappointing experience with few positive points. - I asked for a glass of wine, which was refused because the bottle wasn't open. - A sommelier who didn't know his wines. - A waitress who interrupted conversations with inappropriate humor and no subtlety. - We were the last to leave, and they turned off the parking lot lights. All this for €65 per person with only one glass of wine. Poor quality for a Michelin-starred restaurant!
