07/01/2026: I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaueant La Table du Gourmet in Riquewihr, Alsace, France. This stunning village is a pleasure to explore both by day and by night — and during the Christmas season, the evening atmosphere becomes almost fairytale-like, with beautiful festive decorations adding to the magic. From the moment you enter the restaurant, you are drawn in by an open view of the kitchen near the entrance, allowing you to see the team at work. Inside, the atmosphere is vibrant and artistic, with warm red lighting, elegant statues representing female dancers and performers, and striking works of art that bring real character and soul to the space. A small practical note: some of the exposed wooden beams are quite low, so it’s worth paying attention to avoid bumping your head. The service is outstanding — warm, smiling, highly professional, and very informative. From the very first minutes, the team makes you feel both welcome and well guided throughout the experience. We chose the vegetable-focused tasting menu, inspired by the restaurant’s remarkable garden, which features around 350 different fruits and vegetables. Each course centered on a single vegetable, elevating it in a truly spectacular way. Describing this experience with words alone is difficult — it is something that really must be lived. While the menu is primarily vegetable-driven, two or three courses included small amounts of animal protein, mainly fish or fish roe. As such, it is perfectly suited for pescatarians or for anyone open to a predominantly plant-based journey where vegetables take center stage in a truly magical way. This was without question one of the finest meals we have ever enjoyed in Alsace. A restaurant that comes with my strongest recommendation — and I will deliberately not reveal which vegetables are featured, to preserve the surprise for those bold enough to experience it themselves. An absolute must.

22/02/2026: We were here from August 12th to 14th, 2020. The rooms are, I think, all newly renovated. Lovingly decorated. The manager was very attentive, as were the staff. The food was excellent. A great starting point for amazing bike tours; we drove a convertible. We'll definitely be back.

29/11/2025: The most frustrating restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I booked this restaurant through TheFork, where a specific menu was clearly displayed. When we arrived, we were given a completely different menu — none of the listed dishes were available, and almost every option contained mushrooms. We don’t eat mushrooms, and the staff told us they could not remove a single ingredient from any dish. So we ordered the only two options left. That’s when things became unbelievable. The owner suddenly told us that we were “required” to order two dishes per person. When we asked where this rule was written, she said she decides when and to whom the rule applies, simply because “it’s her place”. When we calmly tried to explain our situation, she literally shushed us, putting her finger to her mouth and laughing at us in front of her entire staff. It was humiliating and completely unprofessional. Then she invented another rule on the spot: unless we ordered two dishes each, we would have to pay an extra £15 per person. This “fee” is not written anywhere, AND SHE AGREED THAT — not on the menu, not on the website, not on the booking confirmation. Moments later, she kicked us out of the restaurant in the most disrespectful way, in front of everyone. Not surprisingly, this was also the only empty restaurant in the entire Colmar. Avoid this place at all costs. Misleading, rude, unprofessional, and genuinely the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years.

29/11/2025: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! My partner and I booked this restaurant expecting to find an elegant atmosphere, respectful staff, and a level of hospitality befitting a Michelin-starred establishment. Unfortunately, the reality was completely the opposite. We were literally turned away, rudely and humiliatingly, simply for asking to order only one dish each from the à la carte menu. According to the restaurant's "internal rules"—which, of course, are nowhere to be found on their website or The Fork—you are required to order either an appetizer + first course or a first course + dessert. This rule was imposed and enforced arrogantly, with no intention of finding a solution. To make matters worse, the owner herself, instead of clarifying the situation professionally, decided to raise her voice and boast that "she makes the rules, whenever she wants." This was aggressive, disrespectful, and completely out of place, especially considering that the problem stemmed simply from the fact that, not finding any other dishes we liked, we wanted to order only two—a completely normal choice in a restaurant offering an a la carte menu. We had never been treated with such rudeness and arrogance, let alone kicked out of a restaurant, let alone a Michelin-starred one. We left feeling bitter, disappointed, and genuinely shocked.

15/02/2026: As big fans of their tacos and low prices, we've never been disappointed at Caracas (the first location). However, we tried the second one, which recently opened at Pole 430, and I didn't find my taco very good. It seemed like the meat had been marinated in some kind of herbs. I ordered chicken curry, and I didn't really taste the curry, and there was very little sauce inside as well. On the other hand, the fries are absolutely delicious! Note: We arrived shortly after they opened, and the smell of the floor cleaner immediately hit my nose and throat. I had to leave because of the wait... not ideal, especially with the children's play area inside. Perhaps they could use a bit more of the cleaning products. These are just minor details to adjust, and we'll definitely be back.

17/01/2026: We arrived by chance, and although we didn't have a reservation, we were able to have dinner on the first floor. La Quille is a wine bar with an excellent selection of wines (mainly French, of course) that offers dishes that complement and pair beautifully with wine. They also have other drinks and even cocktails. Although we don't speak French, our experience was very good, communicating in English with the always friendly and attentive waiters. We ordered the house Croque-monsieur, a hummus dish, and a cheese board, accompanied by a 2023 Pinot Noir Rouge from Alsace (Domaine Engel). Everything was delicious and excellently served, although we had to remind them that the cheese board was missing (which arrived promptly). I think it's an excellent place to enjoy wine and a light meal. It's also a great place to spend quality time with friends and loved ones. Highly recommended.

08/02/2026: We ordered sauerkraut, and it was the worst sauerkraut we've ever eaten. And that's a unanimous opinion (three of us ordered it). The cabbage had a strange taste, the meat was tasteless, it seemed like everything had been boiled.

Some of the wines even pleasantly surprised us with their original and delicate flavors. The only slight suggestion for improvement was that we would have appreciated slightly more generous tasting portions. However, this didn't detract from the experience at all, which was truly delightful. Thank you again for this lovely time!
