27/09/2024: Authentic and well-managed place, with quality food and a splendid view of the Notre-Dame de la Garde cathedral.
Recommended by our B&B, we showed up at 9pm without a reservation, during our first evening in Marseille. Despite the time, they welcomed us with an outdoor table, clean tablecloths, fresh flowers and dishes that embody true local tradition.
The bouillabaisse is absolutely unmissable.
The friendly and attentive staff guided us in tasting the dishes, making the experience even more authentic. The glass of white wine was also excellent, which completed the meal perfectly.
You never have the impression of being in a place for tourists: the atmosphere is genuinely local and the prices are honest. Every corner of the restaurant is carefully curated, enriched with artistic details and curious objects that tell the story of the passion of those who manage it.
I would only suggest taking better care of the plating of the main courses because they don't look good in the photo..
23/09/2024: A must-visit whenever I'm in Marseille. It's hard to resist the traditional dish, Bouillabaisse.

15/12/2024: First of all, I have been to this restaurant several times. However, today's problem: the mojito was a complete failure, I asked to see the bosses and neither father nor son were present. As soon as they understood that I knew the big boss who took care of us. Another thing was that the waiters were not dressed properly for such a restaurant, which was not the case before. Knowing all the same that the aperitifs were offered. I hope this comment will be taken into account by management. In order to no longer have negative comments

01/07/2025: The olive oil square is nice, close to the old port; the tables are spaced apart. The food is very good, with rather average portions. (For example, the bottarga pasta: you'll get 5-6 slices of bottarga.)
On the other hand, the service is too commercial. They treat you like an American tourist. "Try my good extra virgin olive oil" #Spanish oil, nothing more, "€10 a bottle," and at the end of the meal, "How many bottles are you buying?" "As for the bill, it's fine, let's keep it simple, round up €442, and you get €450." In short, the food is good, but the attitude is poor, which is a shame and leaves you feeling heavy ;-)
22/06/2025: On this Place aux Huiles, we find many well-known food haunts, but the real gem is here with Mediterranean specialties. Paule is in the kitchen, Kopa is at the service. We are welcomed with grilled toast with black olive tapenade. The menu gives us a taste of the local side, the sea, and a slice of Italy. I'm thinking in particular of the essential half-and-half Marseille pizza that is served to you as you go. One part is with Emmental cheese, the other with anchovies on a tomato sauce base.

Mediocre service with a rude waitress who barely spoke to us. The food was pretty good, but the value for money was poor. The only positive aspect was the consideration given to someone with dietary restrictions.
19/06/2025: A small restaurant in a tiny courtyard guarded by an old fig tree. A pleasant, unpretentious atmosphere. You don't notice the hustle and bustle of the street.
At lunch, there were only two dishes to choose from per course (starter, main course, dessert). The dishes are original and creative, and good to very good, but not (yet?) Michelin-star worthy. However, you'll definitely be full. Three menus and two glasses of wine cost around 100 euros. The restaurant isn't particularly suitable for small children, but it's highly recommended for a refined break from sightseeing.
The starter of baked eggplant and olive oil mayonnaise was very delicately seasoned, while the main course of rice was a bit dry. The service was a bit cool, but the owner was very friendly.
I would go again.

Successful change of ownership!
A very pleasant surprise at Le Français restaurant. The dishes are delicious, of very high quality, and above all, very reasonably priced.
Another major plus: the easy access and the option to eat at any time, from noon to midnight, which is truly appreciated.
A halal restaurant to recommend without hesitation!

My favorites:
Fish soup
Braised ham
Chocolate mousse
My least favorites:
Frozen and dry bread
Bland mussels
Uncooked rice, some grains were undercooked
Olive tapenade (too greasy)
Mashed potatoes (frozen potatoes with water)
Frozen desserts
Even though I didn't taste absolutely everything, I didn't find anything homemade, from the appetizer to the dessert.
I'm still giving it a 3 because it costs €28 for an all-you-can-eat menu with pleasant staff and a little music that makes the meal more enjoyable.
09/07/2025: So, dessert and cocktail wise, it's great. On the other hand, the main course is far from perfect. I went there twice to try it, but honestly, it was the last time. On the other hand, the service is great.

A very pretty enchanted break with a view of the old port.
The room is very large and the tables are arranged in such a way as to make the general atmosphere cozy and intimate.
The service is efficient and fast.
The cuisine is quite decent and also allows for a pleasant evening.
26/10/2024: There were four of us and the three different dishes that we tasted were very good, even good. But no good atmosphere, cold lights, bad music and too loud and a service that really left something to be desired. I won't come back!
