25/04/2026: This morning, I woke up gently at Café Morand, a charming spot with a touch of Besançon flair and a modern twist. The breakfast, simple on paper, turned out to be very pleasant: fresh baguette, warm croissant… an effective combination to start the day right. I also tried a perfectly balanced cookie, as well as a walnut macaron-style tartlet, from a generous display case and entirely homemade. A truly delightful surprise. The café offers a breakfast set menu including a hot drink, juice, a pastry, and half a fresh baguette, with a particularly attractive price-quality ratio. As for the ambiance, the decor and high ceilings, typical of Besançon buildings, create a warm and cozy atmosphere. The service reflects the character of the place: welcoming, attentive, and taking the time to connect with its customers. 01/04/2026: The burger was good, service a little slow and lots of cooking fumes (clothes didn't smell great afterwards) but overall the atmosphere was good and the welcome was warm.

31/03/2026: We were a huge group of over 30 people, and despite that, the staff was impeccable! The food was divine; I got to try the gratin dauphinois as well as the vegetable side dishes. Everything was exquisite! I hope to go back someday 😍

The atmosphere was completely ruined by the unpleasant and sour attitude of one of the servers, unfortunately confirming the negative feedback I had already heard about him. It's truly a shame that such a lack of professionalism tarnishes the café's image.

20/04/2026: A very unpleasant experience at this establishment. We were served by a particularly irritable waiter. Not only was the welcome frosty, but every interaction seemed to annoy him. A simple request for information about the menu was met with disdain and impatience. We clearly felt like we were bothering them, which is unacceptable in a service establishment.

15/02/2026: Another amateur trying to be a restaurateur... The value for money is very disappointing! Foie gras in a 5cm dish... the waitress confirmed it wasn't "homemade." Chicken in Vin Jaune sauce... which turned out to be shredded chicken in a flavorless, unappetizing broth. I eat better at home or in a company cafeteria... this establishment has potential in terms of its location and setting, but the food is absolutely subpar; there's no real chef on board. Disappointing and what a waste, considering the setting.

20/03/2026: The pastries are supermarket quality, the elderly lady at the till was incredibly unpleasant, first and last time for me. Never again.

15/02/2026: I came after class because it was the closest place to eat. There were no other customers, which didn't exactly reassure me. The service was okay, but the wait was incredibly long just for a panini. Plus, it was sunny that day, and there were tons of cans (probably the merchandise) leaning against the window, exposed to the sun, so the storage conditions weren't being met. I also noticed that the desserts, which require refrigeration, weren't in the fridges… Honestly, next time I think I'll go to Burger King; I'll get more for less, especially since I don't understand why they charge more to eat in.

12/04/2026: A bit out of the way... Nice room and a very pleasant welcome. Breakfast is slow, especially when it's busy, and you end up with paper cups... They're short on bread and other items... The staff should just pay more attention to the service...

11/04/2026: The reception staff were very friendly and explained everything. The staff in the restaurant area should take a leaf out of their book. As described below, the cleanliness of the dishes is unfortunately a disaster. Something urgently needs to be done about that.

04/12/2024: Nous étions 12 personnes dans une grande salle vide et froide. Le serveur faisait "chuuut" avec un doigt sur sa bouche car il n'arrivait pas à se concentrer pour prendre la commande de boisson, évidemment comme il n'avait rien noté, 2 boissons manquaient et une était fausse ! Le filet de magret de canard était trop cuit et le tartare de saumon n'avait vraiment rie de spécial. Nous souhaitions nous balader à Besançon après le déjeuner, le serveur nous a orienté vers l'accueil de l'hôtel, qui nous a simplement tendu un plan. Après lui avoir demandé quelques conseils, la personne nous a juste dit "nous sommes ici" !!!!! bref no comment, on a fait que se nourrir plutôt que de passer un bon moment entre amis au restaurant.

05/04/2026: The eggs in my salad were overcooked; the yolks were greenish. The breaded chicken fillets had probably been fried in the same place as the fish, judging by their fishy taste. It was very dry. My boyfriend got sick after eating his steak :(
