04/08/2026: What a discovery! We were eager to try this French-Thai restaurant, and we weren't disappointed at all! The food was delicious, the spices were perfectly balanced, and the flavors were new and exciting! A real find! The prices are reasonable, and frankly, it's worth it. The decor is fantastic; we ate in the cellar, and it was magnificent! The only slight downside was the wait, which could be a little long at times. Go for it without hesitation!

04/08/2026: The menu is small, a guarantee of fresh ingredients, and the service is quick. We were happy to be able to enjoy a mix of Asian and French cuisine, but although the dishes were named after Thai cuisine, we didn't find the typical Thai spices, or they were too diluted. A shame for the taste buds; I think there's a concept to improve, with dishes that are more pronounced in their Thai flavors paired with milder French elements.

23/07/2026: Passing through Besançon, we wanted to try the local flavors, and what a surprise! The service was very pleasant, the staff warm and welcoming! And the food? Excellent, generous portions, and above all, bursting with local flavors! A top-notch place!

The organization with Chantal, then the communication… on the day itself, incredible organization, a top-notch team, always smiling and very helpful. I am truly at a loss for words to describe this experience. The meal was perfect and delicious, as were all the drinks offered at the reception. A huge thank you to Flo, Lenny, Manuel, and Izzy!!!

15/07/2026: For our 60th wedding anniversary, we hired Chantal, who presented the menu and gave us excellent advice. On the day itself, everything was perfect: the cocktail hour with canapés and champagne, and the meal was a true delight enjoyed by all. Thank you for the service; Florence was very professional, smiling, and pleasant, and along with the chef, Philippe, they took great care of us throughout the meal. A real success! I highly recommend Kaf' des Vieux Amants.

05/08/2026: Extremely slow service and no smiles whatsoever. They seemed more interested in taking on more customers than in properly serving others. Very disappointed.

02/08/2026: Great experience! Although it's in a commercial area, the terrace is lovely, well-shaded and green, making you forget your surroundings! The food was very good, and the price was reasonable. The service was impeccable and friendly. Some tables for two were a little too close together; we felt like we were sharing with our neighbors. But this wasn't the case for all the tables. Thank you, we'll be back!

03/07/2026: Good but expensive. I ordered one (yes, one) beefsteak tomato with creamy sauce. I was asked if I wanted fries on the side. Well, why not? The tomato was flavorful, the seasoning was generous but perfect. But when the bill arrived, I discovered that the fries were actually mandatory, and for the portion size, they weren't cheap. The main course was €14, and the few fries were €4.10! With the drink, the total came to over €25. What a shame.

09/08/2026: On Saturday, August 8, 2026, we were received with a kindness we no longer experience (we live in the Alpes-Maritimes department). The dishes were very good, very well presented (both in terms of style and quantity), and we tasted several wines...all excellent, each different but each one superb. Congratulations to the people who work there, as we felt wonderfully at ease. Finally, people who love their work, who enjoy human interaction...that's becoming very, very rare. 22/05/2026: Staying at a hotel, I stumbled upon this restaurant. What a pleasant surprise! The waiter greeted us with a smile and a cheerful demeanor. The food was refined, and the wine selection by the glass was diverse, including, of course, a local Savagnin. The dishes are homemade and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the modern twist on spring rolls. I highly recommend this restaurant.

24/07/2026: A truly beautiful setting that stands out, a blend of lovely vintage pieces for tea service 🙏 for the decor, clearly. It's a mix of Alice in Wonderland and a natural paradise right in the heart of Besançon 🧚 For my meal, I chose a salad with a scoop of salted ice cream. Frankly, not many places offer such originality; I thoroughly enjoyed it. And for a sweet touch, I had a violet cake for dessert, which was also very good 🧞‍♂️ Having traveled extensively, I've never seen a tea room/restaurant with this concept. Again, bravo! P.S. After reading other negative reviews of this restaurant, I honestly advise you to form your own opinion because, in my eyes, it easily deserves 5 stars. Thank you for the originality when everyone else offers more classic and much more expensive options.

18/07/2026: Discovered by chance during a short stop in Besançon on our way to our holiday destination, what a delightful surprise this extraordinary place was! With its porcelain tea sets, it felt like England; the amount of tea was very generous, the presentation superb, everything was delicious and fresh, and our children (and we ourselves) were completely won over. Every city needs a tea room like this! Well done, Églantine!
