27/07/2024: De nouveau un établissement qui souffre du manque de personnel, personnel en salle jeune et inexpérimenté, un patron qui a l’air complètement en mode déprime. Au niveau du repas c’est bon et propre, Dommage car on sent qu’il y a du savoir faire. On recommande cet établissement si on n’est pas à cheval sur la qualité du service.

The simple but plentiful breakfast, the value for money of the accommodation with breakfast is very interesting. Thanks to our hosts

23/08/2024: We have just moved to Bessines and we are wondering why bother going to Limoges when we have such a good restaurant 5 minutes from home! We had starter/main course/dessert. The meat was succulent, the sauces the same. The tartare was a bit too spicy but otherwise it was really great! Nothing to complain about!

25/09/2024: We had a lovely ‘menu de jour’ meal here for a bargain. The food is not ‘cordon bleu’, but very tasty and nutritious It’s clearly very popular with local tradespeople for lunch, as well as a few other locals having social meals out. It’s not aimed at tourists, but we were made very welcome For any British folks who aren’t familiar with this sort of place, imagine the best ‘greasy spoon’ cafe you’ve ever been to, then think of it serving French home cooking instead, at about half the price you’d pay in the UK (4 courses, bread, ½ litre wine and coffees at less than £15 a head)

01/09/2024: Small "worker's restaurant" as they were called before there was fast food.....unpretentious but well-cooked cuisine, choice of dishes, on-site cooking. There are few like that left, let's not hesitate to put them to work rather than eating a hamburger while driving your car in a large parking lot, the price is the same!!!!

03/07/2024: Another one of these pitiful truckers who closes his parking lot outside of meal times knows that there are drivers who end their day earlier than others. And unfortunately they cannot eat or make the cut at your place because all access to the parking lot is closed

24/10/2024: Un très bel endroit pour fêter un anniversaire en famille. L'ambiance est chaleureuse, l'accueil excellent et la cuisine délicieuse et très copieuse. Devant le Cantou, nous avions le sentiment d'être dans la cuisine de la grand-mère et de vivre un moment hors du temps.

22/09/2024: J'ai bien aimé et j' ai passé un très bon moment. J'ai bien apprécié la salle ainsi que le repas. La patronne n'utilise que des produits frais issus d'un circuit court. Cette dernière est charmante et prend le temps de converser avec ses clients. Et, Cerise sur le gâteau, mon mari et moi avons eu le privilège d'avoir la salle pour nous deux. Merci madame pour ce merveilleux moment.

26/09/2024: Un bistrot sympathique ou les plats sont bons et copieux. Une formule est proposée le midi avec entrée, plat et dessert. Et un des convives a mangé une entrecôte de près de 600 grammes.

Overall the dishes served are correct, they live up to what one would expect, but nothing more. As for the service, we would say it is acceptable, at least at lunchtime... Now let's talk about the atmosphere: If it's lunchtime, she wants to be good-natured and friendly. On the other hand, in the evening it's a completely different subject, the place becomes borderline unfrequentable. Everyone smokes everywhere, in defiance of regulations and respect for non-smokers... It should also be noted that the price of consumption is not displayed, which often leaves surprises when paying the bill. For example, two identical tours billed at two different prices (especially when the numerous aniseed aperitifs ingested by the boss are starting to take effect)... The latter does not bother to emit in quantity all sorts of belchings and other sonic flatulences which suggest that we are in a stable and of which he takes great pride... Obviously the service goes hand in hand, the ice is served to you with your bare hand directly in your glass just like the water which, in the interest of saving carafes, will be served arbitrarily directly from the tap by the owner and so on. This is without taking into account the poor quality music blaring loudly that two individuals who have proclaimed themselves DJs impose on the rest of the clientele who have no other choice than to keep quiet and endure... This is what you can expect if you are imprudent enough to come and visit this establishment in the evening! It is to be regretted that this place which in the time of Olivier the former boss was so pleasant has fallen so low...

08/09/2024: I am very disappointed with my visit, I think that during my visit they must have been very, very short-staffed. More than 45 minutes just to have the aperitif which was delicious, the manager kindly offered us an apology, unfortunately I had to leave because I was expected. I would like to go back to change my ratings because it's complicated to evaluate something I haven't eaten.

02/09/2024: Very good, menu made from local products...every day a new menu, 2 or 3 choices per type of dish, (starter, main course, dessert)...all for €15... Very welcoming, efficient staff. Pets are welcome... I recommend. THANKS.
