In Douai on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024
I found myself at Le Pré Vert where I ordered:
- 1 non-alcoholic cocktail: Orange, pineapple, grenadine, lemon --> €6
- Maroilles cheese toast --> €6.80
- Flemish carbonnade --> €15
- Raspberry sabayon --> €6.80
For a total of €34.60, very good value for money.
The owner is helpful if needed, a warm welcome, good advice, nice presentation, and delicious. There was little waiting time. The sauce was extraordinary: smooth, flavorful, and well-rounded.
The waiter knew the menu very well and was happy to answer any questions.
One small drawback: only one non-alcoholic cocktail, but that's normal in the North = beer.
09/03/2026: As a retired restaurateur, I can only say Bravo! Bravo for the warm welcome, bravo for the quality of your home-style cooking, and very reasonable prices.
We visited you for the first time on March 3rd (a table of 15). Everyone was very satisfied, and we will definitely be back soon.

26/01/2026: Hello! A superb find, easily accessible with parking just steps away. Retro decor, with period features, in a traditional pub style.
It's not very big, roughly 70 seats, but that makes for a rather calm atmosphere. The menu features homemade dishes, and they're delicious. The service is friendly and attentive, and the prices are reasonable.
I recommend it if you enjoy good food and a pleasant experience. We'll definitely be back :)

08/03/2026: The staff were very welcoming, smiling, and energetic. The food arrived quickly, and the atmosphere was great. You really feel comfortable in the restaurant. The owner is attentive and excellent; I highly recommend it.

30/11/2025: The owner enjoys talking behind people's backs (especially mine, and don't try to deny it, there's a witness). He's not the only one, by the way, but never mind. I really don't feel comfortable there and I always feel like I'm being treated like a pariah.
If I were the one treating them the way they treat me, there would be an immediate outcry.

08/03/2026: Honestly, I arrived at 6:45 PM and the owner started rudely telling me the kitchen didn't open until 7 PM. I said, "No problem, I'll have a drink while I wait." Then I ordered a rare flank steak with fries and pepper sauce. The result? I got raw, fried flank steak that was absolutely disgusting, and the pepper sauce looked like vomit on the meat. It's not the first time they've done this; Flunch is much better. And the Americano was a tiny glass for 5 euros, and the atmosphere and service were absolutely terrible. I'll never go there again and risk getting food poisoning! 😱😱😱😱
24/02/2026: Avoid at all costs! The manager is unpleasant and arrogant. The welcome was cold and icy. They need to revise their procedures. First, they should escort customers to their table and give them a detailed menu, not leave them for 15 minutes in a corner of the restaurant. Second, they should serve the ordered drink before bringing the food, instead of constantly asking for what's missing. And the food? Forget about it! 14 euros for a very small portion of fries with two fricadelles, and the quality was mediocre.
Furthermore, they were rude to their customers, criticizing them for being late even though the restaurant was empty that evening. This is another restaurant worthy of a Kitchen Nightmares award or a future bankruptcy. Avoid it!

Very good dinner, we had a very pleasant time and the employees are very friendly. I highly recommend, I don't usually leave reviews for restaurants but this one is worth it!!
