24/02/2026: A truly charming place, with attentive and delightful staff, and absolutely delicious, seasonal cuisine. Nieuil-l'Espoir is a real gem. Even the lunch menu is delicious and beautifully presented. Certainly one of the best restaurants in and around Poitiers.

The cuisine is traditional, homemade, generous, and well-executed—simple yet expertly prepared dishes with genuine flavors. 21/02/2026: Dinner on Saturday, February 21st, everything was perfect: the meat was cooked to perfection, the quality of the ingredients was excellent, and the Charolais beef was incredibly buttery 👏. The chocolate fondant was served exactly as it should be. Bravo to the chef and his team! Impeccable service, thank you to Aurélien, who was very professional and had a touch of humor that was a welcome relief in a world that's gone awry. The waitress was very welcoming and incredibly kind, which was evident from the moment we walked in. A very pleasant experience in a cozy setting; we were delighted with our visit. 15/02/2026: The service was far too slow, 1 hour and 50 minutes for a galette and a dessert. In the Poire Belle Hélène, the chocolate is supposed to be an ingredient in its own right, not just a decoration.

27/01/2026: We went out to eat with my works council; there were 15 of us at a long table, very comfortable in the bar area where we had the place to ourselves. The staff were attentive, patient, and very professional. The meal was excellent, with high-quality ingredients; every single dish was devoured.

30/12/2025: Majestic abbey. A lovely walk to be had in this charming little town.

30/12/2025: Magnificent abbey and church. We visited in early December 2025 and were the only visitors. There's an interesting video (historical fiction) on the second floor of the abbey. The church is free to visit and definitely worth seeing. The museum displays need a complete overhaul in both content and presentation: sometimes simplistic, sometimes opaque and confusing (technical terms are not explained), and sometimes inaccurate (the New Testament is written up to the "11th century" instead of the "2nd century"). We didn't use the tablets; we preferred to consult some scholarly websites.

15/02/2026: We ate at this restaurant a few days ago and it was a very pleasant discovery! The food is delicious and perfectly executed. The menu is varied and the value for money is unbeatable. We opted for the €37 tasting menu, which included six courses: homemade semi-cooked foie gras, lobster and scallop profiteroles, pineapple and Cognac sorbet, veal fillet, a cheese platter, and dessert. We also appreciated the warm welcome, the service, and the friendly manner of the chef, who chatted with us and the other diners in the dining room. We'll definitely be back and will remember this place.

We loved it! ❤️ In short, a wonderful discovery in the heart of this little-known Poitou region. The chef is at the helm and he's absolutely brilliant. A lovely discovery. And it's delicious! The little extra: the bread is homemade! 😋 One question: - Why doesn't this establishment have a Bib Gourmand yet? 🤔 - One small point: Remember to accept holiday vouchers.
