01/04/2024: Good food but service not up to par. First the good news. We tested the Confins des Sens this Easter Monday with a unique and special lunch menu for €75. The results are at the level of expectations: good classic cuisine with a zest of creativity (very first experience of the Bescoin Savoyard brioche accompanying the very good foie gras, veal cooked at low temperature tasty and particularly tender, classic but tasty chocolate dessert, menu of rich and interesting wines...). So on the kitchen side, great performances despite some slightly bland flavors (the arctic char starter) and the somewhat modest portions (but that's normal for a tasting meal with two starters, two main courses and two desserts!) . Not so good news now. Decoration ordinary and without any particular charm: the floor in large red terracotta tiles and the summer terrace in slabs of washed gravel look cheap, we don't really know if we are in a restaurant that wants to be gourmet/sophisticated, or a "restaurant for friends” without fuss. Positioning to be clarified. The service, however, is below our expectations: the two people in charge are not unpleasant, just not attentive to details: if the arrangement of the table does not suit you, you are told "do as you wish" and we leaves you to fend for yourself; they seem to be watching your plate to clear it within 30 seconds of finishing it; we practice a zest of familiarity ("are you from the area?" or, when the bottle of wine is finished, "well! that's done!), we don't know the detailed content of the menu: to our question about what the "bescoin" is that we didn't know: "I don't know, I'm going to find out"; we open the box of tea bags for your neighbor 5cm from your face; we lie down almost on the table in front of you to pick up an object placed on the opposite side, etc. A little training for service staff seems essential to take a step forward...

18/03/2024: Great time, we followed the reviews on Google and frankly nothing to complain about. Very warm welcome, very good service, the dishes were delicious from starter to dessert.

12/03/2024: We dined with porcini mushroom fondue, accompanied by a green salad and a charcuterie board. We enjoyed ourselves, the quantities were generous. I really appreciated that the salad was fresh, which is not often the case at resorts, so thank you very much! For dessert, there wasn't much room left so we had a génep and a scoop of ice cream. The staff was very friendly and the digestive menu is very original since it is on a magnum of Génépi :-)

30/03/2024: Meal for a table of 17 people. A pleasant meal with good products. However, no commercial action on the part of the establishment, on a total bill of around €700 despite a few tense poles on our part. Obviously, nothing obliges them to do so but unfortunately we are locals and not tourists on vacation, which personally will not make me return to this restaurant.

05/04/2024: We ate an old-fashioned Savoyard raclette, very hearty, very tasty, no problem. We had a little Alsatian wine which was very good. The weak point would be the desserts which we found uninteresting. I had a poached pear and in general it's a dessert that I enjoy when the pear is poached in red wine. There I had the impression that the pear was poached in hot water. My friend had a blueberry fromage blanc, she didn't get the taste of blueberries and the fromage blanc was really uninteresting, very bland. A strong point on the presentation of the desserts, too bad the taste does not follow. Give your desserts a little something extra and I promise you that you are one of the best restaurants in Grand-Bornand. Sincerely

25/03/2024: I would have liked to give just one star just to read the boss's response. His responses to previous negative comments made me howl with laughter. I looked for negatives in the evening but nothing, nada! Everything was perfect, the welcome, the service, the meal, everything. Oh no, the bill at the end... it could have been free anyway :-)) Congratulations again for everything and maybe see you another time.

11/03/2024: We spontaneously booked a ski trip to France and found this gem. We love how spacious, clean, and lovely our room was. 10/10 for the European wooden chalet vibes. Everyone we have met at the hotel has been more than kind to us. The wooden structure is not 100% sound proof, but it’s very quiet at night and we slept quite comfortably. The spa, and the sauna is a big plus after a full day of skiing. We felt so relaxed. The breakfast was home made and full of delicious baked goods and other yummy options. Good to get the carbs in before hitting the slope. The location is prime, we were able to find parking easily and plenty of food options around town. Most of the staff speak good English, but I am especially grateful for the receptionists bearing with me as I try to get my French verbal skills back, a lot of the times people realized you are not a native speaker and they just switch to English, but I appreciate the practice and the patience of people speaking French. We would love to return next year, well done to l’équipe Le Vermont!!!

13/03/2024: Very good restaurant, does not force consumption and even advises us. We had eyes bigger than our stomachs and the waitress advised us I recommend. Plus a magnificent view of the slopes.

30/03/2024: Classic room with small bathroom, very small bathtub. Comfortable bedding and mountain view tb. Beautiful fireplace but just on display. Breakfast staff, maid and this gentleman who took care of the reception and the bar very well. On the other hand, the boss's cold and distant reception with the customer needs to be reviewed. Ask her for a favor, there is a good chance that she will find a subterfuge to avoid doing you a favor. We would have appreciated a bigger smile from you and a much warmer welcome. 😀😃😄😁😁
