12/09/2026: I absolutely do not recommend it: the main course was served in tiny, snail-sized portions, the fries were industrial-looking, and the price was €20 (rounding to the nearest 30 cents) – it's outrageous. We were so disgusted that we didn't even want to order the dessert, which was priced at almost €10 (again, rounding to the nearest cent)... The dessert would have been no bigger than a petit four, given the small portions... One thing's for sure: once is enough, not even for a drink.
The manager is very nice and attentive, but that certainly doesn't make up for everything else...
07/08/2026: A difficult experience, an unfriendly welcome, we were refused a seat inside even though all the tables were empty. Our child seemed to be inconvenienced as there was no seating provided for a 3-year-old, no smaller portions available, and no children's menu. (I didn't demand anything at all; I even offered to leave because my daughter, indeed, wouldn't be able to eat an adult's portion at her age.) There was no cook, and the food seemed to have been microwaved. The quality was poor.
Around us, we saw people who wanted to eat being rudely turned away. An awkward situation. Prices far too high.
We obviously do not recommend this place. We were misled by previous reviews (change of ownership).

27/12/2025: I had a really excellent meal. It was truly delicious. The setting was pleasant and unpretentious. The owner, despite his somewhat gruff manner, is very friendly. I don't know many restaurants in Saumur that offer a complimentary glass of champagne at the end of the meal after you've paid the bill.
I don't understand the overwhelmingly negative reviews. To dare to say it's not good, that it's frozen food, etc., etc... simply untrue. We arrived as a party of five and were warmly welcomed, as were all the other customers who arrived later. All five of us thoroughly enjoyed every course, and our plates were returned empty to the kitchen.
27/12/2025: A very pleasant evening; the food was delicious. I recommend it.

31/12/2025: The managers are completely disrespectful, and I see from the reviews that it's the same even for those who actually ate there...
Instead of simply apologizing for not updating the opening hours (10 pm) for December 30th by allowing reservations for 9 pm, they treat people like dirt, brushing them off in an incredibly rude manner.
When you've just driven 600 km to see your mother and little sister, and you arrive at 8:30 pm, counting on this "restaurant"—which was the only traditional French restaurant in the city center "open until 10 pm"—for a family meal, the least you can expect is to be greeted with a smile and a "Sorry, we closed the kitchen at 9 pm tonight..." rather than a "Uh... I'll check with my husband" and a "Yes??" "Without even a single 'hello' from the gentleman, and to top it off, a raised eyebrow that clearly said, 'Why are you bothering me at 9 pm?' I mean, I don't know, what do you think people come to a restaurant for at 9 pm? A game of bowling?
Luckily for our evening, we found it much more pleasant, certainly better, and of a higher standard than the property of these pathetic people."
30/12/2025: We arrived at 1 p.m., not even a hello, just a rude "We're full!" Please continue to ban this restaurant so they at least learn some manners and courtesy.

02/11/2024: Landed here after leaving the Auberge St Pierre in despair. What a difference. Virtually immediate service with a smile, good food and great people-watching. "The Boss" then appeared in an amazing pair of bespoke bright red braces, which turns out to be his trademark. Quite a character.
A good time seemed to be had by all
30/10/2024: Sur une magnifique place (malheureusement défigurée par un immeuble-cube en béton de la caisse d'épargne), un bistrot cheleureux avec un accueil sympathique.
Malheureusement la cuisine n'est pas au niveau du reste

29/07/2026: I highly recommend Valencia Roma for the warm welcome and attentive service from Fabien. The food was excellent; the rougail was superb, as were the other dishes: salad, charcuterie, etc. The service was top-notch, with delivery on time. The dishes were piping hot.
Thank you so much for your professionalism.
And perhaps we'll be back again.

06/08/2024: Nous nous sommes installées à six en terrasse à l'occasion de l'anniversaire d'une amie, serveur sympathique - vins proposés au verre sans grand intérêt, servis trop chauds - c'est en allant payer à l'intérieur cette première tournée que les choses se sont gâtées, cartons à travers la salle, qui ressemble à un débarras, verres sales pleins le comptoir, bar collant de sueur, pire que tout, la charcuterie servant à faire les planches pas remise au frais, rillettes et pâtés abandonnés en pleine chaleur du mois d'août sur le plan de travail. Nous avons fui dîner ailleurs!

03/05/2024: Un repas en famille dans un restaurant de taille familiale, ici on ne cherche pas à optimiser, et découvert un peu par hasard. Mais tout, le repas comme l'ambiance et l'acceuil font que l'on est content d'y aller et là de le recommandé. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés avec vos enfants.

15/09/2024: Une superbe découverte lors de notre escapade à Saumur, un très beau cadre, service sympathique et efficace. Excellent rapport qualité-prix concernant la formule déjeuner. C'est très très bon et plutôt original !
12/09/2024: Un ambience magnifique et un excellent service de la part d'un personnel bien formé.
Le repas était excellente, magnifiquement présentée et savoureuse, mais si vous vous attendez à être rassasié après votre repas, vous serez déçu. Essayez ailleurs.
Ma seule déception a été de constater qu'il n'y avait que des vins chers disponibles, pas de blanc ou de rouge maison, et 25 euros, c'était cher pour nous pour un repas de midi. Je peux comprendre que ce soit le modèle économique d'un tel restaurant mais il y a beaucoup de bons restaurants à Saumur qui proposent du bon vin en carafe ou au verre.
Cependant, l'expérience a été très agréable et nous espérons revenir. Le prix global était plus élevé que celui auquel nous nous attendons habituellement pour un repas de midi, mais il s'agissait d'un restaurant de qualité supérieure. Faites-en une occasion spéciale.
