I go there regularly and the service is always great. The owner is incredibly kind.
The food: everything is homemade.
You only have to try the spring rolls to realize it. All the ingredients are incredibly good. The prices are more than reasonable; you can get away with spending €15-20 and still have a full stomach.
So, while it's not all-you-can-eat, you'll eat much better for less.
Plus, the owner is always very attentive to my allergies.
The interior decor is charming.
I highly recommend this place to all the residents of Sisteron and tourists.

25/09/2026: Everything was very, very good, the place was very welcoming, the girl who served us was lovely, she tried to communicate in our language at all times and was very attentive.
18/09/2026: Passing through Sisteron last night on my way back from Fréjus. The restaurant was almost empty, with only three tables occupied.
I received a quick call from my sister at her table. The waitress asked me to speak more quietly, and I told her I'd only be two minutes. The owner then came over and told me to turn off my phone immediately.
I left, and my colleague paid the bill. I understand the need for peace and quiet for the other customers, but the manner was very abrupt and authoritarian. There are no instructions regarding phones posted at the entrance.
It's a shame, the pizzas looked good.

The person who invited us noticed, too late, a mistake on the bill: dessert was charged twice. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars, but it's a very good restaurant.

Here, everything is perfect:
👉 Ultra-professional and attentive service

But what really makes the difference? The generosity.
Finally, a restaurant where you don't leave hungry… quite the opposite 😄
The portions are generous, the desserts incredibly decadent, and every bite confirms that you're in the right place.

The pizzas and other dishes are generous and excellent, and the prices are reasonable. The staff and the welcome are friendly and unpretentious. We always return with the same pleasure; we're never disappointed.

15/08/2026: Recommended by our Airbnb host, we weren't disappointed, quite the opposite. The pizzas had a crispy crust and were topped with excellent ingredients, especially the banon cheese. Furthermore, the staff was very friendly and energetic.

The dishes are refined, and I recommend the sea bream with sautéed vegetables, chilled diced tomatoes with mango, and a light vinaigrette. Very good and quick service.

18/09/2026: Great value honest cafe in centre of town. Beer is more reasonably priced than most other bars in town and the food is decent value too. The large baked Camembert platter (2 ramikins of melted heaven with dried meats and potato wedges) is fabulous value at €30. Definitely recommend.
14/09/2026: A great find! Returning from vacation near Mâcon, I stopped here for a leisurely lunch on a Monday. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside, it's incredibly pleasant! The young waitress is energetic, responsive, and very friendly.
The rosé wines are fresh and delicious. The platters are a bit small; I opted for the Montagnard burger. It's a winner, a huge winner!
I highly recommend this place :-))

The hotel is very well located.
The staff were very friendly.
What will make us return is Mr. Michel's warm welcome; we have rarely seen someone so attentive to their guests.

Hotel restaurant la nouvelle citadelle

11/07/2026: I called in here as it started to sheet with rain on my drive south.
I had eaten here last summer and today was served an amazing 'planche' ( see photo ).
Highly recommended if you are stopping in Sisteron.

03/05/2026: The room was quite dilapidated, with significant damage to the walls, a broken shutter that wouldn't close, cobwebs, dead insects, and accumulated dust on the baseboards and pipes. There was mold and grime on the shower hose, the bottom of the glass, and in the corners of the shower tray. The toilet was so small that a seated adult man's knees hit the door. The bathroom ventilation was so noisy it was unbearable. There was no soundproofing between the room and the rest of the hotel. The TV was very small, propped against the wall by a bath towel. The patio door didn't close properly. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, and the view of Sainte-Baume and the citadel was pleasant. However, considering the state of the room, the price was clearly too high. We will not be staying there again. There is no free parking nearby.
