03/08/2026: A real gem! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere made us feel at ease; we truly felt right at home. The chef, passionate and attentive to his customers, offers cuisine that took us on a journey across France, with authentic flavors and generous portions. You can taste the work behind each dish, especially since the ingredients come from local producers, which makes all the difference in freshness and taste. Another great feature: several options were available to accommodate dietary restrictions, which isn't always easy to find. Just one piece of advice: the restaurant is a victim of its own success, so be sure to book well in advance to guarantee a table! A huge thank you for this wonderful experience; we will gladly return. A must-try!

27/07/2026: We booked based on the Google rating, without having checked the website or learned anything about the restaurant's concept. Unfortunately, the quality of the food didn't seem to live up to the price and the restaurant's claims about using local producers and fresh, seasonal ingredients (in our case: mussels, shellfish, and rice swimming in sauce). The vegetables were mainly for decoration. Considering the price of €35 per person, we found the value for money particularly expensive and disappointing, with flavor combinations that we felt were rather disharmonious (e.g., a starter with lentils, salmon, foie gras, and two small slices of tomato). For a set lunch menu served on a weekday, this price seems very high. Even in very attractive cities like Dijon, Annecy, Biarritz, or Paris, you can find more affordable set lunch menus in this context. Furthermore, we regret the lack of transparency. The various steps involved—entering, sitting down, listening to an enticing presentation, and implicitly accepting a set menu—gradually drew us in. It was then difficult to back out. In our opinion, several essential pieces of information were missing: - no menu available for consultation, either outside or inside; - no price displays; - a price only provided because we asked; - a set menu (starter, main course, dessert) without clearly explaining that it was impossible, for example, to remove the dessert (for whatever reason). A gesture of goodwill would have been appreciated. We are sharing this opinion to inform future customers: if you book solely through Google, without consulting the restaurant's website, be aware that this is a particular concept that may not be suitable for you. Clearer signage on-site regarding the menu, prices, and the terms of the set menu would allow for a truly informed choice before being seated.

07/06/2026: Best burger and fries ever. A ribeye steak to share, a good glass of wine, and a great atmosphere—it has it all. If you're passing through, don't hesitate; the locals already know it's the best place for lunch or takeaway. They're lovely.

23/07/2026: AWFUL ⚠️⚠️ DO NOT GO THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! I walked in and the first thing I noticed was a disgusting smell. There was a dead rat in the corner, the meat was ugly and black with grease, and everything was filthy. The atmosphere is TERRIBLE, not even a hello. Honestly, I felt like I was being ripped off. As for the service, they were out of FRIES, sauce, and there wasn't a single paper towel to wipe my mouth. Go to O'Crousty for 50, it's much better. TERRIBLE ⚠️⚠️⚠️

05/08/2026: There weren't many people there when we went, so it's difficult to comment on the service and atmosphere. Our dogs were allowed on leashes, and the restaurant was clean. However, the restrooms weren't great; the floor was sticky or greasy.

07/08/2026: We arrived at 1:14 PM and received a warm welcome. The homemade fries were incredibly delicious. A lovely selection of raw and fresh, homemade vegetables! The prices were more than reasonable.

14/08/2026: I ordered a butcher's cut, advertised as 130g, for €21. When my dish arrived, it was a small steak, probably bought at the Carrefour in Gouzon, and it was tough to boot. Having made a reservation, I ended up seated outside the terrace, near the public toilets – just wonderful. The table wasn't ready when we arrived, and there was bird droppings on the chairs, which got on my shorts and t-shirt. Disappointed, I won't be a customer again.

18/07/2026: Passing through this small village, I stopped at the crêperie for a meal. The welcome was very pleasant, the waitress was dynamic and very professional, and the food was excellent, delicate and refined. Thank you, and all the best. I highly recommend this establishment.

25/08/2026: I keep thinking about my last visit to Patapain, and since then I've found it hard to think about anything else but what I learned. In the standard farms where you buy your products, piglets have their tails docked and their teeth ground down, while sows spend half their lives in cages. This suffering completely ruins the customer experience.

25/08/2026: We arrived early in the morning and there were only 4 or 5 customers, which is very few! We waited 10 minutes before even getting a glance from the sales assistants; they were giggling amongst themselves instead of helping us… then we were asked to change lines when there were only 2 customers left. And we had already been waiting for 10 minutes without anyone asking us what we wanted. So we decided to leave because we had come for a quick lunch before an appointment. As a result, we left upset and with empty stomachs… very disappointed with this experience, avoid it in the morning!

10/08/2026: No daily menu displayed. When you arrive, you wonder where the entrance is between the "snack" area and the "cafeteria." The place is rather run-down. The staff are friendly and smiling; they do what they can, but this place could use more renovation and better signage. Consequently, it's a bit pricey...

06/08/2026: We stopped at the rest area in the Guéret mountains, which promised tranquility. But the experience was disappointing: the food wasn't great, the restaurant claimed to be open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM but actually opened around 11:45 AM, the service was barely adequate, and the equipment (tables, cutlery, etc.) was in poor condition. In short, only stop if absolutely necessary.
